How to Get There
Great hotel in a fabulous location. Very close to tube, making all sites easily accessible. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Very comfortable room and super clean . Tasty food at breakfast.
wonderful vacation but short, defently we recommend the double tree hotel to all our friends.
Kindly note that I did not stay the night, i attended an event. Eventhough it was probable the busiest pre-christmas nights, the hotel had booked several parties to their functions rooms but did not prepare to man or organize the cloakroom staff accordingly. Huge queus at arrival and when leaving the personnel did not have no clue which tag belonged to which room and when they did they did not find correct jacket or bag. They kindly did offer somebody elses bags and jackets but for some unknown reason I kind of wanted to have the same things that I left at the cloakroom. Utterly unprofessional attitude and system, happy-go-lucky if you end up leaving with your own things.
On the positive side when seated at the tables, the staff came often enough to ask drink orders and kept adding wine to the table. The food on the other hand took a long time (pre-ordered menu) and taste and quality were mediocre at best. Starter salmon was dry, main course turkey blant in taste and arrived cold other main course risotto was unrecognizable, dessert was supposed to be panna cotta but for bitter chocolate and weird jelly on top, it was kind of difficult to recognize. Overall disappointing dinner and arrangements. I would not organize events st doubletree tower, for the same price ou get better food, better service snd eventually happier people in other places.
My husband arrived earlier than myself and quickly checked in, he managed dropped off his bag in the room and mentioned the room wasn’t great but no time to do anything about it.
When I arrived and checked in myself I did mention this to the guy at reception, he said your husband was fine with it!! BUT Then I seen the room!! I was definitely not ok with it and thought the ‘wasn’t great’ was understated. I’ve been in hospital rooms with more luxury and I mention this because it was the first thing I though of when I walked in. For £300 a night this wasn’t a cheap stay and I expected more from a Hilton hotel. Actually it was more like a cheap motel or lodge at the side of a motorway, but with a worse view. It had no sense of luxury what so ever.
I asked again at reception for a room change, we did not request a disabled room and I’ve no need for an assible room. I needed out of it.
So apparently me booking through Expedia makes a difference.... not sure what but the lady at reception did mention it twice! She didn’t mention the £300 a night though!!! I am a Hilton Honors customer but didn’t book with them and I didn’t think it would matter to mention it. She did upgrade us to the floor above and apologised but the room was of equally low standard and with dirtier walls, paper thin walls and a mattress that’s like stone. The only difference was the bathroom. But now by this stage I was late for an appointment and needed to just leave.
So rounding up I would certainly never choose this hotel again, I’d stick to the ones in the city I know or even choose one slightly out of the city. Aldgate now has a great hotel cheaper and definitely better looked after.
Great quality hotel in a fantastic location for the City of London and close to attractions of Tower of London and Shard etc... will bring the family here for a weekend of fun and use the Hilton as a base. Lots of entertainment and eating options within close proximity of hotel. Transport options also well placed with the tube a few metres away and river boat trips to go up to Greenwich or down to Westminster. Recommended!
Had a great stay here with my fiance! The 12th floor Savage Bar had great views and some interesting drinks. The Was really cool being able to walk to nearby tourist sites and the Tower Hill tube station was only two blocks away! Very convenient getting around London and overall a very enjoyable stay!
Piece of advice...the sheer curtains are definitely see through...lol. Wish they had a spa too, but otherwise a great stay!
