Great location, clean rooms and communal areas, helpful staff, breakfast good standard as was the evening meals, Will use again as my preferred London Hotel for short visits, easy access to DLR and only 40 mins to the center of the city. Great find.

A great few days in London

Just returned from a week’s stay at the De Vere Devonport House. Check-in was easy and hassle free with Kash. Room was good. Had a view of the Cutty Sark. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and the food was replenished even at 9:30 when breakfast was finishing. Theres lots to do in Greenwich, more than we expected. And the hotel is in a great location to explore London. It was good to come back here from the hustle and bustle. Cutty Sark station is very close to the hotel as is the bus stops and ferry terminal. Also close to visit the O2 and Emirates Airline. Will definitely be back.

Nice hotel in superb position but couple of downsides

Stayed on a Saturday and Sunday night. The hotel is in great location next door to the maritime museum and only couple of hundred yards from the Cutty Sark and pier. The room was clean and very spacious on the 2nd floor overlooking the courtyard. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean. However the shower was over the bath and the bath side was extremely high making it very difficult to get in and out. Apparently all rooms apart from disabled rooms are like this and due to health and safety regulations they are unable to provide a platform/step.If you have mobility problems beware. I have back problems but am still fairly fit playing golf and tennis a couple of times a week but I found it very difficult and painful to get out of the shower due to the height.
The breakfast was good with great selection of food and friendly service. We did not have an evening meal so can't comment. We can comment on the bar however. The selection of drinks and quality available was poor and the price of them was certainly on the expensive side. Soda water was added to my gin rather than tonic and they tried to serve us ginger beer with our whisky. This was very dissapointing and needless to say we did not drink in the hotel on the second evening..
However I would stay there again due to its superb situation and friendly staff

The exceptional level of service made it a pleasure to stay here

Travelling as two couples we booked a Travelzoo special to stay here- and what an absolute bargain it turned out to be. We arrived before our check-in time but the desk manager (Kash) knew immediately that one of our rooms was cleaned and ready and, without us having to ask, he offered us an early check in. He was polite, efficient and gave the impression that nothing was too much trouble- and this continued throughout the stay - parking, directions, restaurant booking, courtesy umbrellas, check out - all dealt with as if we were the most important guests at the hotel. The great experience continued in the dining room. Ekaterina ( I was so impressed I asked for staff names) managed the restaurant to perfection. Again everything was smooth and efficient. Service was quick but not rushed, Ekaterina kept an eagle eye on every table to ensure that staff responded to every need. Food arrived beautifully presented, well cooked, hot and all at the same time - so no-one was left waiting for their meal. a jug of tap water was provided immediatelt without asking.
The hotel is wonderfully situated at the heart of Greenwich, next door to the Queen's House and National Maritime Museum. The building is lovely and surprisingly spacious for a London Hotel. Car parking is available on site for £10 a day. The deal was stupendous- £119 for two to include dinner (from the standard menu - not a special inferior menu), bed and breakfast with bottle of Prosecco as well. I was even please to see that the hotel did not waste money on providing sewing kits and shower hats but sensibly put hair and shower products in the bathroom and an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe. Full marks to de Vere for sensible planning and to their staff for making this an outstanding visit ( despite the only rain in months). Having stayed there on a bargain basis I would be happy to rebook at full price. Of course there are always things that are not perfect but any minor negatives become insignificant when the total experience is so good.

Travel lodge would be better

Honest review. I stayed in this hotel 18 months ago and was very disappointed. The manager very kindly offered me a complimentary stay as my first visit was very disappointing, we were promised a cleaner more improved hotel on our second visit. We booked for 3 nights , so we paid for the other 2. The second night was reduced at £84, the third night was £99 ( full price). Not that’s nearly £200 we have spent to come back to this hotel. I wish we had not. As soon as we arrived the room was the exact same, stained carpets, mould in bathroom, blinds in tatters. The toilet seat was shocking, all chipped!!! I emailed the manager who apologised and the next day the toilet seat was changed. I sent another email detailing the mould and I got NO reply, but a bowl of less than impressive fruit I emailed a third time stating I feel we have came back under false intentions, the hotel has not improved, again I was ignored. The breakfast was less than impressive also, fried eggs swimming in grease on a plate, the beans were out so long they were hard and crispy on top, the pastries were stale and every day I had to ask to the water and orange juice to be replaced. Please spend your money on a travel lodge or similar.
