A bit of a disappointment this stay
Reviewed 1 day ago

We have stayed at the De Vere Devonport several times. It is ideally placed in the centre of Greenwich, part of the iconic former old naval college buildings, and we have enjoyed our previous stays there. The room was comfortable though the upgrade offered by the booking site, if available, was not. However that was not a particular issue. The fact that the hotel bar has been closed for a month was an issue. Most disappointing when one is expecting a nightcap (the restaurant was closed for dinner so we ate out, but looked forward to returning to what used to be a rather splendid bar - to no avail). In the morning the full english breakfast turned out to be semi-full (just scrambled eggs and bacon from the hot grill). Generally, the feel-good factor was missing this time and we would hope that efforts are made to rectify matters so that return visits are again attractive

Reasonable rooms. Clean. Draughty; badly fitting windows let in all the noise from the function room and noisy partygoers smoking and shouting loudly outside. Noise levels need to be restricted in the function area.

Appauling language from the wedding guests. Why the hotel would allocate a room overlooking the function suite to people travelling with toddlers is beyond me.

Do not stay here on a weekend when a function is on.

In need of some tlc
Reviewed 6 days ago

The staff were great and as attentive as you needed them to be but the rooms are in some real need of tlc. They are not comfortable but I guess depending on when you stay and the price you pay, it’s not bad for London. You’re in a great location in Greenwich and tube access is easy to all locations.

Great location

This hotel is in a very good location for a trip to the capital. It is pretty handy for going into central London, but there are plenty of reasons to stay put and explore Greenwich.
It’s just a stone’s throw from the main gates of Greenwich Park which is perfect for a walk and a visit to the Observatory. The Maritime Museum is also nearby, and The Queens House, both free to visit. The hotel itself is pleasant and the self service breakfast is plentiful and good. There are plentry of medium priced places to eat all around or a quick trip on the Docklands Light Railway will take you to Canary Wharf where there are even more lively sights and shops and restaurants. Greenwich can also be reached by river bus from Savoy Pier or Westminster. I liked the hotel and will certainly come back, especially if there is a special offer on!

A hidden gem - perfect for a London visit

To say I was pleasantly surprised about this hotel, is probably an understatement. I stayed here for one night with my mum. It is an ideal location for the O2 arena - it’s about a 40 minute walk from the hotel along the Thames Path to the arena, alternatively a short tube ride on the DLR. The hotel is in a great location for exploring Greenwich, right on the edge of the lovely Greenwich Park, a stone’s throw from the Cutty Sark and the Maritime Museum. The hotel itself is well equipped and clean and lovely and quiet (something you don’t get when staying right in the city). The breakfast, which was included in the price was continental, so we were surprised when we also got bacon and scrambled egg!
I would not hesitate to stay here again, even if you were visiting central London, it’s a short tube journey to all the main attractions.
To top is all the service we got was great, everyone from the team who cleaned the rooms to the receptionists were super polite and friendly.
