Perfect Location

We stayed here for one night on our first visit to south London. We were really impressed with the location. It’s walking distance from all Greenwich has to offer. Greenwich village & surrounding area is beautiful. There are lots of pubs, bars & restaurants nearby.
Parking is easy & a reasonable price. Our room was very clean & comfortable. The view was lovely too.
Breakfast is fine, I dislike buffet breakfast generally as the hot food is usually awful but this has good continental choices & a sensibly limited hot choice.
I would stay again if in the area.

You are paying for the location not the facilities.

Having paid such a price for two nights, I was very disappointed with the facilities inside the building. Nothing special about it at all. Functional is about the best I could come up with. The Bar was closed on the Friday night of a Bank Holiday weekend! As it is, it is only open from 5pm to 10pm, when it IS open.
I am not keen on Breakfast buffets and certainly did not expect one at this hotel. Not with the rate charged. But Buffet it was and frankly it is a disaster.
The room is way too small, the tables crammed together, the food is laid out right by the entrance and the one coffee machine is located on the other side of the entrance.
The result is a mass of people milling around in all directions on different missions!
The first morning, it was so chaotic, I stepped out to wait in the car park until things had calmed down a bit. Even so, it is so tightly packed, people were frequently knocking into me as they passed my table to get to the toaster, or wherever.

I heard another guest accurately describe the experience as 'A Bunfight'!

Some scrambled egg and chewy bacon were the only hot choices available. I enjoyed the fresh bread, though.
I have written a lot of reviews and always try to find something positive, however I have rated this place as 'Terrible' because I feel we were grossly over charged for what was provided.

Budget hotel at a high price!

Wow what a difference a year makes! Where to start.... clear cost cutting throughout the stay. Booked or should that be mis-sold back in May last year. Breakfast is now just a poor continental with a majority of pre-packaged foods. A “cooked” breakfast in its loose terms was just scrambled eggs (of varying colours) and bacon. The tomatoes, mushrooms etc are long gone! There is no restaurant or bar facilities unless there is a function. There is a 24-hour snack bar at reception but ridiculous prices eg a small bottle of water £1.50! The biscuits and bottled water have disappeared from the bedrooms. In the bathroom the toiletries are fixed to the wall which is fine in the shower but no good for a bath.

Would recommend alternative local chain hotels where the quality and food available is superior and the price is realistic for the offer.

After 4 years of staying here the poor management over the last few months means we will not stay again and wouldn’t recommend it.

Great Location - Room/Facilities a little disappointing
Reviewed 3 weeks ago

It was a beautiful old building right in the heart of Greenwich - perfect location to explore Greenwich. Inside was a little disappointing. I expected more of a grand lobby to go with the exterior of the building - but it was a very small, modern seating area - generic. Rooms were fine - modern, clean, roomy. Nothing really exceptional. Entry to the hotel was strange - all the front entrances were closed. Only entry was through the back parking lot in a poorly signed entry - a disappointment considering the wonderful building exterior! The staff at breakfast was terrific - very welcoming and helpful.

Decent hotel but a disappointing breakfast

I stayed at the De Vere Devonport on business and it was clean and welcoming. My only criticism is the breakfast. The only hot food from the buffet was bacon and eggs - no mushrooms, tomatoes, sausages, hash browns and so on. For the price of a room and for a 4-star hotel this was disappointing and it could easily be rectified.
