How to Get There
Thanks to quadruple glazing, hotel is very quiet. I had a lovely, well appointed high tech (for me ) room which was comfortable. I slept like a log. Would have given 5 stars as was very impressed, but the bar charges 12% service charge on drinks .. I think this is greedy given cost of drinks themselves is not cheap...but that is my only gripe and I would stay here again.
Great hotel, we have stayed a four times now but have experienced problems a couple of times. The first time we stayed we got upgraded to a huge river view room, When we went the second time I emailed before booking with images and was advised what the room was called.. we booked that room and when we arrived it definitly wasn't what we asked for. We complained and was moved to another room... still not the one we were told we booked however the manager told us he did not have the one we wanted avaliable. Whilst the other half was speaking to the manager in our room I was phoning other hotels to ask about room avaliablity and suddenly he leaves and comes back with a key card... for the room we wanted and believed we booked originally! (even though there isnt one avaliable?!)
This is a very nice hotel however with a huge breakfast selection. However the location isn't great... and although they offer a 'free shuttle' we have been told numerous times that they arn't going to run it after arriving... which means a hefty taxi bill for us!
Would I stay again? Probably not, I believe there are hotels that may not look as nice cosmetically but offer better customer service and in much better locations.
Having spent an incredibly emotionally draining day/eve with a dying friend in a hospice, I was too tired to drive home to the country. I booked this hotel, received a confirmation email against my credit card and went for dinner. Upon arrival I was told that they had no rooms and that my confirmation was a mistake. No attempt to contact me when the booking was received by them and despite offers of other hotels that they could send us to, none were available. I had no option than to drive for almost 3 hours at 1am to get home. They didn’t seem to care at all or offer any actual solution or compensatory gesture. I have attempted to contact the hotel since, but the GM has not had the courtesy to respond. I imagine it is this culture of carelessness with customer service that is cascaded to the ‘associates’ we met on Saturday night.
I am mortified by this experience and the total lack of responsibility taken by the Crowne Plaza, Battersea. They initially attempted to blame TripAdvisor, but I pointed out that from the time they received the booking, to my arrival, they had plenty of time to figure out a solution and contact me. I felt extremely distressed and very upset by this experience, especially given the circumstances of my visit to London. We were simply shrugged off and treated like mugs by the highly inexperienced DM and junior receptionist.
From what I saw of the reception area, the hotel is shabby and lacklustre, situated along a very badly signposted and poorly lit back alley, the arrival entrance looks more akin to the back door of an Iceland store, than the welcoming portal to a great customer experience from what was once the flagship brand of Holiday Inn.
“Cold hearted” would be a more accurate brand value for Crowne Plaza / IHG Hotels.
I stayed recently with work and had overall a very positive experience. The hotel is out of the way and not near an Underground station. This is reflected somewhat in the price but I’m not sure for me that it outweighed the difference to being more central. There are buses very near by though and Clapham Junction is 15-20 mins walk.
I am not sure I was upgraded from booking a deluxe room but I had a pleasant river view and a surprisingly interesting view of the Heliport which you can barely hear in the room.
The restaurant was good especially the steak which was cooked to perfection. When the service was very slow for a glass of wine (my order was forgotten), it was offered for free.
Good stay and would stay again.
Rooms have modern fixtures and fittings with a trendy luxurious feel! They’re quite dark (maybe supposed to give a cosy feel?)
I struggled with the lighting control in the bedroom, about 10 different options with 2 sets of up and down to control things?!!
The bed was plush! And huge!
Exec room had a TV above the bath!
Food in the restaurant was good quality and pretty much on par with other hotels price wise!
The best thing here are the staff! All seemed to be lovely, really professional, polite and friendly!
