How to Get There
A small quaint boutique hotel in Kensington with rooms in a variety of different styles. Very old with a lot of history. Quite central with shops close by and a train station. Lovely food and a great overnight stop.
This hotel has turned into a nightmare. I complained first thing Sunday morning to be told they would get back to me, I had to chase the management today only to be told I am a liar and that they have checked the CCTV and there was nothing going. Let me first explain that there were two prostitues that had obviously just been called by two dirty old men staying directly opposite our room, this is totally unacceptable. The management told me how could this be as they knew the guy staying there and that he was staying in the room with his wife to then be told that the room opposite was in fact empty! hmm doesn't sound right to me. We were given false information that the bar was 24hr, this bar is not 24hr and therefore guests go to their rooms to drink, this felt like a loud knocking shop with people up down the stairs hanging around everywhere! We arrived back at this hotel at 12:30am I feel sorry for the residents on the street, outside the hotel is full of drunken people on the street coming out from the bar. I’ve been told that the bar will in fact be one of the hottest bars in town soon exactly what this hotel should be a bar and not a hotel do not stay here! I contacted the management in hope of a refund as our stay was so awful, this I was told was not going to happen and that we could come back at a discounted rate really?! No thank you.
The Good: Location, staff, bar area
The Bad: everything else. Our room was incredibly small, not even enough room on the floor for our 2 carry-on suitcases. everytime we needed to go from the bed to the bathroom we had to move both pieces of luggage out of the way. The furnature was beat to hell and dusty. The door separating the toilet from the rest of the room would not close all the way, lights were flickering and some of the switches flat out didn't work. There must be a few marvelous rooms to give this hotel a 5 star rating, because the room we stayed in was terrible. We brought the issue to the management, who eventually gave us a different room for the last night of our stay, which was bigger but again, nothing special. The photos online to not in any way reflect the quality of the actual rooms. This hotel is not worth the price it costs to stay. It might have been a 5 star location at one point, but it's currently not even close.
