Excellent Service & Location

An older boutique hotel surrounded by large chain hotels in South Kennsington, it is the best of the neighborhood. The personalized service was outstanding The front desk staff and conceirge staff made us feel welcome & appreciated. We were met with smiles and always an offer to assist each time we walked in the front door.

Our room was a "twin king". It was 2 twin beds made up separately and pushed together which fine since we were 2 friends traveling together. The room was larger than expected. The bath had a huge tub/shower combo although there was little counter space near the sink. Water pressure and tempurature were fantastic, especially for an older hotel. Also, the room was very, very clean. The furnishings were a bit worn and the towels could be replaced but the bathroom amenities and room extras were top notch. We had a mini fridge, coffee/tea maker, plenty of coffees and teas as well as cold cream in the fridge, all replaced every day.

The included continental breakfast was good but a little repetitive by day 6. The french press coffee was terrific and the baked pastries were outstanding.

The neighborhood was clean, safe, filled with restaurants, very close to public transportation and tourist information. There are a couple of food stores to pick up snacks and wine very near the hotel.

I highly reccomend this hotel for budget minded travelers willing to spend a little more for a much better experience.

My new go-to in London
Reviewed 5 days ago

I had a wonderful six-night stay at the Ashburn the end of May. My room was a standard double and was spacious and comfortable with loads of closet space and a huge bathroom. I was shocked how quiet it was, for being in such a convenient location. It's literally steps from the Gloucester Road tube station (on three lines, so very easy to get to many areas of London) with a number of pubs nearby as well as grocery and convenience stores.
The staff was absolutely lovely and made me feel very at home. I loved having the bar and lounge just downstairs! Breakfast was standard continental, and everything was clean and restocked quickly. Hot breakfast is available at an extra charge- I didn't order it but what I saw looked great.
My only issue, and it's tiny, is that there was only a shaver outlet in the bathroom of my room so I had to move a table lamp by the bed to use my American adapter. I loved my stay here and will be returning in September.

Good, but rather basic hotel by the Gloucester tube stop

There isn’t a reception like one normally expects when walking into a hotel. There are two desks and that’s it. Check in was easy and the receptionist friendly. We were given an upgraded room on the third floor. The room was very pleasant and well furnished, with lower end furnishings. The grout in the shower, however, was in need of a good cleaning. The trains from one of the underground lines beneath the hotel could be heard in the room, leaving the station. The continental breakfast was very good, although the dining room is small and cramped, with little room between tables. The is only one small elevator for use by both patrons and cleaning staff. There is no business center.

Hotel Ashburn in Kensington

We visited in this hotel the first time. The hotel was ok, clean enough BUT I definitely appreciate more if the cups and spoons in the room were properly washed. According to my validation, it didn't happen. I ate yoghurt and left the spoon to the bathroom. When I took the next evening the spoon from the closet, there was still some yoghurt in the spoon.
The breakfast was ok. If you paid some extra, they served warm dishes as well. Location was good, near the tube station.

Quaint hotel, loved my stay

It was a quick walk from the Gloucester Tube stop. The room was very clean. The bathroom was amazing. The carpet could use cleaning or changed to hard wood. The mattress was comfy and the staff was very helpful and pleasant. I would definitely stay again & recommend.
