How to Get There
We stayed at the Amba Charing Cross last week and had a phenomenal time. We stayed in an executive room which was quite large for London. It had a free minibar which was stocked daily with soda, water, beer, chocolate and potato chips (crisps). You NEVER see that in any other hotel and it’s a real pleasure. The bathroom was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. We ate breakfast in the Amba lounge every morning which was great since we didn’t have to worry about where to eat before running out to sightsee. Diana in the lounge was wonderful and very helpful, always with a smile on her face. Breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs (although they would make any other type you requested), bacon, fresh fruit, all types of bread and delicious croissants, pastries and juices. At night, they served appetizers such as meat pies and meatballs. And great-tasting wine, soda and beer was available all day. If you are a gym rat, forget about the “gym” in the hotel. It’s very basic. My husband, who simply must work out everyday, joined a gym nearby called The Gym London Charing Cross which he loved. It’s a few blocks away. And it was very reasonably priced for a week-long package. There is a Boots store next door which sells shampoo, makeup and some health-care products such as Benadryl. There is a tube station next door. If you have bad knees, be forewarned. Many tube stations require you to walk up and down a gazillion steps and, if you have bad knees, can be very difficult.
Poor service and maintenance issue. Tiny rooms with no space for clothes. Breakfast is ok, but not very tasty. I asked the reception was to remove some stuff that I don’t use in order make some room for my clothes, but they didn’t do it. The USB ports for charging were not working.
A very friendly welcome from an amazing staff.
We had a room with free snaks and drinks in the afternoon, which was really great.
Our room was luxury and we received a very sweet personal card with some chocolate and a drink.
Mini-bar wad also free and filled every day.
The breakfast was outstanding.
Location was perfect, next to the underground.
Because of the kindness of the staff and the beautiful hotel, we felt like V.I.P’s.
Many thanks but especially to Maria and Diana.
Loved it. We’ll be back! X
