How to Get There
The Aloft is not a particularly pricey hotel, but it does provide excellent value. On arrival I was dismayed to discover planes taking off and landing on one side of the hotel, and trains rattling along on the other. However, the sound proofing in my room was astonishing and I had a very peaceful stay. My room was spotless, the staff were efficient and friendly and the hotel is adjacent to the ExCel Arena (just 80 paces) with all it's amenities and entertainment. The food in the bar was ok, but nothing to write home about.
However, top marks for room design as all the cupboards, drawers and wall sockets etc were kept well away from party walls, so there was no disturbance from neighbours rattling coat hangers or slamming wardrobe doors in the wee small hours. An excellent and well thought out piece of design. I would be very happy to return to this excellent hotel.
Me and my eleven year old daughter loved our stay ten out of ten she also said that she what’s to stay hear again I agree. The staff couldn’t be more helpfully and hotel very clean and homely. Perfectly situated away from busy city centre.
I could literally write an essay on how this hotel made a simple two night reservation into a two week period of hell trying to correct.
I have used this hotel to stay with work for over 12 months, on and off each week.
I normally arrive late (10pm onwards) as I travel late, however on the last occasion I arrived to be informed that my room had been given to another guest and I would be moved to a nearby property.
Not the greatest news to receive when all you want to do is check in, get some rest in preparation for work the next day.
The alternate hotel happened to be the Moxy in Stratford, not a like for like comparison nor a suitable substitute.
Following my stay, I was also charged incorrectly (additional night etc) and a higher rate than I had originally booked. This then caused numerous phone calls to the hotel to try and rectify. Having to speak with multiple people who provided assurances that they would address and yet did not.
Service here is abysmal and stems from Marriott / SPG not really valuing the value from their returning clients.
Avoid at all costs.
We stayed one night before a flight at City airport. Outside the hotel the planes are LOUD! But in our room we couldn’t hear them! Amazing soundproofing. Very clean and comfortable, modern.
Was very happy with this choice.
Food at the bar was not great, but it’s a hotel and the location was what was important to me.
12-15 minute walk to airport or 6pounds taxi
Great hotel, good located near conference centre. Clean en nice rooms, cosy corners for internal meetings. Good bite to eat in the afternoon and nice people.
