Vintage decor meets urban style at this hipster hotel in London's East End

The Lowdown

In the heart of Shoreditch, the Ace Hotel is the king of hipster hangouts. The light, airy guestrooms are the perfect place to relax or host an impromptu afterparty; expect vintage furniture and hip extras like turntables (in some guestrooms) and Martin guitars. The spacious rooms also come with handmade quilts by APC and Rudy’s Barbershop toiletries. Public areas include the steel-walled chill-out lobby, bar and Bulldog Edition gastro café, as well as Miranda, the intimate basement club. The Hoi Polloi restaurant, which serves dishes made with seasonal produce, and the Lovage juice kitchen are also on hand for a post-party pick-me-up.

In the Area

Shoreditch has everything from vintage clothes shops to microbreweries and is one of London’s biggest creative hubs. Rivington Street is great for Asian food and local craft beers, and the Boxpark, a pop-up mall featuring food, fashion and gallery space, is within walking distance. Top local eateries include Hawksmoor Spitalfields, renowned for its delcious steaks, and Les Trois Garçons, a kooky restaurant crammed full of antiques and taxidermy. You can also visit nearby Brick Lane Market for vintage finds, or sample a cocktail at the Big Chill Bar, which regularly hosts club nights and events. The West End (for theaters and shopping) is a 20-minute bus or tube ride away.

Just want to say Lukas had excepptionable, impeccable and brilliant service this evening. The only reason we stayed longer at the rooftop bar this evening was because of his vibrant and energetic energy. He made our night and really made us feel welcome. Awesome evening with great friends!

Cool hotel

First of all the reason for the three stars is due to the location, the set out of the hotel and the friendly staff.
We did encounter a couple of issues throughout the hotel, check in time and rooms hot, the staff explained the situation and we did understand their hands were tied due to the time of day.
The staff were very apologetic. Hopefully when we come back we experience a better stay. However the beds/rooms are comfy and no issues. Ere

I always stay here when in London

Whenever we travel to London my wife and I make it a point to stay at the Ace. We've stayed in many of their US hotels (including NYC, Palm Springs, and New Orleans) and appreciate the attention to detail Atelier Ace brings to their properties.

This hotel is in Shoreditch, one of the trendier neighborhoods in the city. I like it because the conversations I hear and the energy in the area feel like Austin, where I live full-time. It also means you have access to a ton of great restaurants, bars, and shops all within walking distance of the hotel.

On-site, the rooms are great. They are big — American-style, even — with all sorts of bed options. Upon check in on this trip the manager saw I had stayed with them before and upgraded me to a deluxe double with a great king-sized bed and a window seat.

Service has always been great, even when things out of their control have happened. Last year we were disturbed by two fire alarms and ended the trip with no hot water in the building. The hotel comped our incidentals and arranged for showers off-site. When we've needed things, they've always come through.

The Ace, in general, is one of the best boutique hospitality groups in the states, and it's great to know the level of comfort extends to the UK.

Overall great experience you expect from the Ace

Service was incredibly friendly and helpful. My room was huge by London standards - probably 50% bigger than any other one I've stayed in. The pillows and bed were very comfortable. Complimentary bath products smelled were high quality. Love the location on shoreditch high street. Great restaurant on site.

Super cool hotel.

Great NY feeling to this hotel. Loved the decor and rooftop terrace (views and cocktails were both super!). Staff were really helpful and especially accommodating as it was my husbands birthday, Will definitely return!
