Overview

Vintage decor meets urban style at this hipster hotel in London's East End

The Lowdown

In the heart of Shoreditch, the Ace Hotel is the king of hipster hangouts. The light, airy guestrooms are the perfect place to relax or host an impromptu afterparty; expect vintage furniture and hip extras like turntables (in some guestrooms) and Martin guitars. The spacious rooms also come with handmade quilts by APC and Rudy’s Barbershop toiletries. Public areas include the steel-walled chill-out lobby, bar and Bulldog Edition gastro café, as well as Miranda, the intimate basement club. The Hoi Polloi restaurant, which serves dishes made with seasonal produce, and the Lovage juice kitchen are also on hand for a post-party pick-me-up.

In the Area

Shoreditch has everything from vintage clothes shops to microbreweries and is one of London’s biggest creative hubs. Rivington Street is great for Asian food and local craft beers, and the Boxpark, a pop-up mall featuring food, fashion and gallery space, is within walking distance. Top local eateries include Hawksmoor Spitalfields, renowned for its delcious steaks, and Les Trois Garçons, a kooky restaurant crammed full of antiques and taxidermy. You can also visit nearby Brick Lane Market for vintage finds, or sample a cocktail at the Big Chill Bar, which regularly hosts club nights and events. The West End (for theaters and shopping) is a 20-minute bus or tube ride away.

London design without London prices!

The same great room, design, friendly staff and quality of stay that I had the first time round and compelled me to stay for a second time. Always pleasantly surprised at the competitive room rate for such a nice hotel.

Funky and Arty hotel, super nice

As always staying at ACE is super nice. The ambiance is funky and arty. Great coffee, nice decorated room, perfect shower. Matress is a bit firm but I slept like a baby. Well stocked minibar.
If I could note one downside is that the window in the room can't be opened, not even a bit in order to let fresh air in. (This is a problem in most other hotels as well)
The area Shoreditch has a lot to offer in terms of dining and nightlife. Would definitely stay here again.

Initial hitch superbly sorted

Title says it all, overall customer service was outstanding, room all you'd want, breakfast excellent. London is never cheap but you do get what you pay for with this hotel. This is not always the case but it is here!
