How to Get There
My wife had made a prepaid online reservation at the Westin hotel. Upon arrival, in the late evening, the hotel staff told her that the hotel was booked and that she could not get the room that she had reserved, and prepaid!
Apparently there was a convention in the area because she was not the only person to be bounced from her booking. The rooms apparently had all been taken by another group of people. Three other "customers" were redirected to either the Extended Stay hotel in Schaumburg (30 minutes away), or the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles (35 minutes away), both of a lower grade, and after 11pm at night!
The front desk (Stephanie) did not seem to care and was borderline rude. Wife ended up finding herself another room at another hotel well past midnight.
Simply unacceptable, unethical, unprofessional, unreliable, and un-hotel like.
The Westin hotel has gone very low...
With all the elegance of a downtown hotel yet all of the quaintness of the suburbs. Right by two great malls and close to the city. The rooms were clean and the staff was prompt with my few requests. They let me check in early and the bed was amazing...I slept great!! My only complaint is that there was no free Wifi but otherwise the stay was great.
Hotel is very dated , stains on the counters , worn out and scratched counters . Room is spacious though . Bathroom’s terrible and cramped bath tub , has rain shower in bath tub , bathtub wouldn’t drain water properly . To add to this request for extra towels was greeted with rejection . Wouldn’t want to stay here agian . Not the Westin service I have seen in others . There is nothing in this hotel that justifies a 4 star rating . May be would pass for a 3 star hotel .
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Westin last week. Upon arrival they authorized our bank card for twice the amount they were supposed to. In addition to them over authorizing, somehow, someone charged $190 of room service to our room. I brought it to the hotel's attention right away. I was told by a manager that the issue was resolved with Visa and the money would be returned right away. The money still had not been returned the morning we checked out of the hotel, 4 days later.
On top of the money situation, we were also placed in a room with stained linens and carpeting. The framing on the mirror was pulling apart. Also, there had been something spilled on the wall in the hallway outside of our room and it remained there for our entire stay.
At check out I asked to speak to a manager, again, about the issue. Over half of our vacations funds were made unavailable to us throughout our vacation because of not one, but two mistakes on the behalf of the hotel. All the manager had to say to me was, "It is an unfortunate situation, but there's nothing we can do for you."
Thoroughly dissatisfied with their customer service.
The hotel and facilities were very nice along with the service I experienced. There was very little information contained inside the room regarding things like pool, gym and internet. What I didn't realize that I was going to get nickel and dimed for items like breakfast and internet that usually accompany room reservations with a hotel like Westin. Movies for $20. Come on. A lesson well learned for an inexperienced traveler.
