How to Get There
I have stayed at this hotel several times. It is my favorite business hotel. The reason for this review is that I had to download, sign and return documents. I was having a terrible time but Matthew Mammosser stepped up and really help. The place is still in need of an upgrade, but service like this is exceptional.
The bed was absolutely comfortable. This place is very clean. The rooms are very nice. The restaurant was live and kicking. If you looking for a quiet place Harry's is not quiet it is loud and fun. Will be back soon.
We spent a recent weekend at this Westin. We had a king standard room on the 12th floor. The room was very clean - it just could use some updating. The furniture (particularly the desk and drawers) were a bit beat up from use. The bathroom was very nice with a rain shower head and separate shower wand.
We ate breakfasts both mornings downstairs at Holy Mackerel. The food was very good and the service was great. We had a drink at Harry Caray's one afternoon- and service there was great, too - though they probably could have used two bartenders. The bar is large - and one bartender was handling it by himself.
There were a couple things that needed to be fixed in the room. We let housekeeping know - and they were both fixed before we returned to the room that afternoon (toilet paper holder was broken and the bathroom sink drained slow).
We went down Saturday afternoon to use the hot tub/spa, which is in the pool area. It was crazy in there. There were a few parents and kids behaving well - but there was one young woman with 14 (yes, 14) kids that were from toddler age to about 14. About 10 of those kids were all in the hot tub - including preschoolers - when we arrived. We told them the sign said that you had to be 16 to use the hot tub. They ignored us. Then I mentioned to my husband we should call the front desk about it - and then the woman came over and told them to get out. They then were running back and forth from behind the hot tub area to do cannonballs into the pool. Once they were out - we used it - but just for about five minutes. We saw a lot of dirt in the foam - likely because of a lot of kids being in it. As soon as we got out to dry off, those kids went right back into the hot tub while we sat right next to it. Right before we left, the woman left with about half the kids. The rest (6 of them) were all left alone in the hot tub (oldest was maybe 11 or 12 - youngest maybe 5 years old). On our way back to the room, we stopped in the workout room to call to report these unattended kids. They said they'd send security down to check it out. I'm guessing they have at least one camera in that pool area - so someone should have been monitoring it. I'd guess this woman and maybe another parent or two had all these kids in just a couple rooms - but I could be wrong.
We stayed from a Saturday to a Monday. By Monday - things were much more peaceful (and adult!) than the weekend. We didn't have time to use the pool/hot tub after Saturday, though, to see if it was better on Sunday or Monday morning.
Overall - the hotel is very nice and all the employees were friendly and professional. Our room was well cleaned and restocked both days but could use refurbishing.
Although this hotel is nearer the airport than the city, I’ve no complaints with this hotel. The staff was courteous and always willing to help. My stay there this time coincided with a competition for the US weightlifting competition so the hotel was fully packed. We had to wait a short bit for our rooms to be available , which is understandable because of the packed crowds billeted that weekend. when I got my room it was clean and sheets were changed. It was a short walk ( literally just a car park away) from Target :) and there’s a shuttle bus that can drop and pick u up ( accdg to their shuttle bus timetable, of course) to anywhere within a 5 mile radius between the hotel and Oakbrook mall. There’s a Costco along the route of the shuttle bus and a mall just across the hotel, and in winter weather, u can walk but if it’s too cold, it’s better to ask the hotel to drop you off. There are several Restos and shops along the route of the bus too and they are nice enough to drop you off then just ask them to pick you up on the next shuttle run. Though the hotel was packed, the room was quiet enough that u didn’t hear your next door neighbor. That is, unless they are having a party which I had experienced on my last night’s stay. However, the noise stopped around 12:30 am , they were teens next door after all. The heated indoor pool was open even during winter ( thank god). There’s a sauna, gym, and jacuzzi available too. I like staying in this hotel even during the height of winter because there’s lot of in hotel facilities you can avail of. There 2 restaurants in the lobby. One is a sports bar, I think. Sorry if I can’t review the Restos as I was always out of the hotel during the day so I eat out. Did I mention that there’s an AMC theatre nearby as well? You practically have everything u need in and around the hotel location. And if u want to head to the city, the hotel provides a shuttle bus to the train station. I love staying in this hotel, they really provide whatever u need for a stressless stay in a hotel.
I stayed here in mid February for a long weekend. It was terrific! The hotel is very up-to-date, well maintained, and spotlessly clean. The pool, hot tube, and sauna are world class. They have the largest pool I have ever seen in a hotel. Almost Olympic size. The exercise room was terrific! The hotel service was impeccable, and the price was a bargain. Normally, I would not notice hotel linen but the sheets, towels, and pillows were quite luxurious. A very nice touch.
The only minor downside was the limited dining options within walking distance. But there are plenty of options if you have a rental car, or take their shuttle.
