How to Get There
Our family trip to Tanjong Jara Resort in Dungun, Trengganu is a marvelous one. The resort is sited within greenery along the Tanjong Jara Beach. Beautiful beach with blue greenish South China Sea. Nice sunny weather but its a pity that the sea is not safe to swim as jerry fish is aplenty. Nevertheless the swimming pool is not too bad. Breakfast is good with different choices of food from traditional Malay, Chinese porridge, Indian and International breakfast. The dinner under the stars (open air hawkers style) is enjoyable. The local cuisines are flavorable with local live traditional music. Having meals at different restaurants is a great dinning experience. A real good break from city life and hectic work schedule with free and easy relaxation laidback in the middle of nowhere. Good ambience full of coastal vegetations and coconut groves. Matured gardens with well grown Angsana, Casuarina and many other trees and flowering plants. Acoustic sounds and sea breeze with blank mind was a real retreat. The woodern chalets with traditional Malay architecture with spacious bedroom and interior deco is comfortable. Sun rise from South China Sea is scenic. Watching release of sea turtles at night was a learning experience for the family. Friendly service and helpful staffs made the holidays a remarkable one. A good choice for family outing.
We were in TJ for 4D2N.Love the location of TJ and the space. On our arrival day,We arrived at TJ in the evening. We were greeted by 2staff,1 was the porter and the other was the receptionist and later on their manager Frank.
We drove to TGG instead of taking A flight. So as we arrived we dropped our bags off and registered before we parked our car at the parking area nearby.
We were given welcome drinks, cold towels and some local kuih. The receptionist showed us around the area and to our room and before she leave us she gave us a map of the resort and also a paper with daily activities that they have at the resort.
There’s only 2 main restaurants(western or malaysian cuisine)theres another 1 at the adult pool area and they only served lunch but just some light snack’s.The food in TJ is quite pricey btw.
There’s 2pools.1 is near the lobby and that’s the adult pool and the other one is far end on the other side a bigger pool for children and adult, and the gym and spa village is there as well.
The staff there was all very nice and friendly.
There were quite a few intern’s as well and they were nice too.(Hamdan,Xian,Makunda,Alice, Jasmine,Chef Ann,Buja,Mar)
Ohh not to forget,You have to do alot of walking.
And if you are chilling at the pool or beachside the staff will come around giving out ice water to you.
There’s a beach bag in the room for you to use.And they provide mosquito repellent and healing balm as well. The healing balm is very good.
The room..Room was great.Spacious and clean.
Shower was awesome and there’s a bath tub as well.2 sinks(perfect)and they provide plenty of towels. The only downside of it is they do not have curtains. They replaced curtains with those wood kind of blinds and same goes to the door.
During the night when we close up everyting and we were outside our room,We could still see inside(No privacy during the night).Other than that i am happy with the room and the view (seaview).
Conclusion to my short trip to TJ.I love it!!
After having first stayed at Tanjong Jara back in 2010 and having visited repeatedly ever since, it is difficult to find new words to describe what we consider to be probably our favourite holiday destination.
To repeat comments that we have made in the past, for us, there is something magical about Tanjong Jara. Apart from the beautiful surroundings, there is a peace and tranquillity there and the whole experience is enhanced by the fantastic staff that have a wonderful way of being able to make every moment of your time there special and memorable.
We have grown to call this our second home and as the years go by, we consider everyone there as our extended family and this is the way in which they treat us in return.
This year, we went again on the snorkelling trip to Tenggol Island and I think that we saw more fish than ever before. The colours and variety of the fish were remarkable with the background of the beautiful coral showcasing them in all their splendour. Once more, it was truly magnificent.
The Spa was tremendous and helped us to unwind and relax in a way that we find impossible at home.
The food, as ever, was fantastic and we would like to thank all concerned for the special meal that we had on the last night of our stay. It was delicious!
We have always said that it is difficult to single out individual members of staff for praise, as without exception, every member does their utmost to ensure that we are well looked after and have a wonderful holiday. This year was no exception and as the list is so long, we hope that they will all accept our sincere thanks for their attention, kindness and hospitality.
We would like to mention Mr. Frank Motzkus, who took over as the new General Manager in 2018 and who we would like to thank for giving up some of his valuable time to chat with us during our stay. It was great to meet you and we wish you good luck for the future.
And so, until next year, when we hope to return and possibly this time with other members of our family, we would like to wish everyone at Tanjong Jara all the very best.
Keep up the good work!
We heard so much about YTL hotels, hence my husband and I decided to check out Tanjong Jara Resort as our first YTL Hotel experience. We were definitely not disappointed!
Firstly, the staff that attended to us, Sheila was a trainee. She was extremely polite and friendly. The resort manager made it a point to warmly welcome us personally, which made us felt at home from the moment we checked in.
Sheila then accompanied us to our room and showed what is available and explained about the room facilities. We were really tired upon our arrival. When we found that our room was ready with the fan and air-con on, we felt very comfortable as the weather outside was quite warm.
Another thing we like about TJR is that our rooms were cleaned and tidied up twice a day! They also ensure that the mosquito repellent were switched on for our comfort. The staff that we crossed path with at TJR were all very friendly and always wore a smile on their faces. We were really impressed with TJR and we felt 2 nights there were not enough for us. We would definitely like to return back to TJR, hopefully next time, we could check out their world class spa!
Another enjoyable stay, this time in a room with a balcony over the stream looking out over the beach and the occasional swim past from the water monitor lizards. Very comfortable. Breakfast buffet always a good start to the day. Save for the theme night, we took all our evening meals in the same restaurant where Annie the chef conjured up something different every night. Three good snorkelling trips. Even managed to see a turtle launch one night from the hatchery. Highly recommended as before.
