Luxe downtown high-rise opposite the Burj Khalifa, with an outdoor pool, an ayurvedic spa and four restaurants
Directly opposite the world's tallest building and the world's largest mall, the Taj Dubai is a luxe high-rise in the heart of downtown Dubai. The rooms and suites are done in soothing neutral tones, with hand-made furniture, hand-painted Indian artworks and floor-to-ceiling windows. For more space and comfort, book a Junior Suite; the extra features include walk-in wardrobes, a separate living room and an extra-wide kingsize bed. The marble bathrooms come with a tub and twin sinks. Take your pick of four restaurants: light snacks and cocktails at the Byzantium Lounge; authentic Peruvian cuisine at Tesoro; gastro pub–style fare at the Eloquent Elephant; and Indian specialties at Bombay Brasserie. Cool off by the outdoor pool or indulge with the signature Thaqthia amiqa treatment (an exfoliating scrub followed by relaxation massage) at the Jiva spa.
In the Area
No visit to Dubai is complete without a trip to the observation deck of the Burj Khalifa. At 2,722 feet, the building is more than twice the height of the Empire State Building. Just next door, the Dubai Mall is an enormous shopping complex with more than 1,200 stores and 120 restaurants. And don’t leave the city without first experiencing an Evening Desert Safari. Try your hand at sandboarding and camel riding; then witness a traditional belly dancing show under the glittering desert stars.
