How to Get There
Chateau Vigier is absolutely wonderful! The beautiful country setting is a dream, the golf course, pool and spa are superb and the grounds are delight to explore. The food at the brasserie is great for lunch and dinner with a wonderful view, especially at sunset. Breakfast is amazing with so many good options . The common rooms in the Chateau are wonderful for relaxing and reading and the chambres are spacious and comfortable. All the staff are very friendly, professional and polite. We enjoyed every minute of our time there, wished we has stayed longer and hope to be back soon.
Bathroom rather dated.Selection of teas minimal and cup chipped Room basic for price. Staff in house and breakfast and bar 19 excellent but staff in Chai not very friendly and all in a hurry when not busy and long wait when busy. Food generally good but lamb tough and Spanish salsa disappointing. Block bookings with presentations necessary? Note required for swimming towel collection.
Our party of seven couples met up at Chateau Des Vigiers for four days of golf (the men), sightseeing, pampering and pool lounging (the women) and trips out to paddle the Dordogne and eat in local restaurants (the whole company). We had terrific time and the hotel is good. My wife and I had a large, modernised, air-conditioned room on the ground floor - with a small seating area outside. Lovely. Our party had an inclusive deal for golf, bed and breakfast. We all found the breakfast good - taken indoors or out, depending on the weather - offering a range of patisserie, cereal, jams, bread etc - and hot cooked ham and scrambled eggs if that's your thing. Eggs cooked to your liking were also included; service was good; friendly, respectful and efficient. The golf courses were good (we had a choice of three 9 hole courses). We didn't try the Michelin starred restaurant - but we ate in the bistro on the first night. The food was fine, quite chefy and well presented, and the wine choice reasonable. Service was efficient but dis-engaged. Not great value for money though and we ate out the other three evenings (beware - taxi prices are prohibitive. The hotel quoted €210 each way for return trips to a restaurant 10 minutes drive away because taxis had to travel from Bergerac). Eventually we found a local taxi driver, Daniel, who sorted us out for little more than half the price - as recommended by Lee and Mike at the excellent Le Cafe 1500 (see review).
What a great find the Brasserie at the chateau was.
For €35 for 3 courses and good wine atarting at €23 a bottle, you simply couldn't have wished for better.
All food was excellent and plentiful portions and staff very helpful too.
We will definitely be back on our next trip to France
Lovely setting for an evening meal outside .
Beautiful olives with a glass of champagne .
Had confit of duck . Actually a very small portion but tasty . Came with a tiny amount of piped potato purée and not much else .
Cheese plate for dessert again very small .
We finished our meal around 10pm . Staff waiting to lock up . Felt we should leave but noticed their hours were until 11pm .
