How to Get There
I wanted to add a nod to the great service at the valet stand. Samuael was great at having the car ready when needed and was very friendly. He even ran some luggage to our car to help out when my wife was short on time before a meeting.
If you are thinking about staying at this hotel, PLEASE reconsider! I booked a weekend trip through a third party (Expedia), as a gift to my girls as a weekend “mommy getaway”. The holiday time can be stressful for many, so I wanted to gift them with a weekend of relaxation.
A week prior to my check in date, I modified my reservation through Expedia by adding on another guest and paying for all of my girls to have breakfast on me. Unfortunately there was a booking error and the breakfast for myself and guests that I originally paid for was lost when processing. Expedia sent me an email that explained that I should have breakfast for myself and guests and requested for me to show it to the front desk when checking in on 12/8/18. They also stated they contacted the front desk and it should be noted and checkin should go smoothly according to plan. Just to make sure, I also called the front desk a week before my checkin. I spoke to a coordinator at the front desk and she assured me that everything was notated on my reservation.
The day of checking in, of course it was not notated. I had to contact Expedia and give my personal cell phone to the front desk staff so that they can make the note on my account and ensure that we would be able to visit their restaurant that served breakfast because again it was already paid for.
We checked into our rooms,rushed and put our bags down and went to move the car. Valet parking tried to charge us $60! He said we were there more than an 1hr. The ONLY reason why were there more than an hour is because of the issue we had with the front desk, who previously reassured me a week prior that I would not have an issue and did not follow through with their commitment. Because of that, I told valet, I was not paying $60 that I should not be charged. You would think that the front desk would coordinate that with valet, being as though he had to use my personal cell phone just to speak to an Expedia rep.
After going to dinner and enjoying a night on the town, we went back to our rooms. We were pooped. We unpacked and laid down on the bed to relax. While laying down, we noticed a stain on the bedding. It cause us to inspect the bed more and one stain turned into SEVERAL stains that was BED BUG residue and blood stains (I’ve attached some photos)! We immediately called down to the front desk and Security came to our room with new sheets. He mentioned that there wasn’t a manager on shift because it was after hours. How do you not have a manager on shift for such a larger hotel!?! Anyway, he handed us the sheets as if we were supposed to put them on ourselves! I told him I am not changing those sheets. He walked into the room and did a visual inspection of the sheets and bedding and walkied to switch us to a new room. We had to change our clothes and bag them up, making sure that we try and not bring any traveling bed bugs with us. They switched us to another room (which was a huge inconvenience btw because all of our stuff was unpacked), but it was an older room and the bathroom wasn’t even cleaned properly. The next morning we went to the breakfast buffet. Our server Alem was a really nice woman. I was excited to eat the French toast but it was really cold and hard. Another let down! I then decided to go with some toast and asked her if she could get me some avacodo (a special request) and she did with no problem. She was the only genuinely nice staff member, who tried to ensure that I had a good experience. I later decided to walk down to the front desk and requested to speak to a manager about the bed bug residue incident, the switch to the old, unclean room and wanting a refund. He told me that they would have to have an inspector come and check and see if there are in fact bed bugs present in that room. I mean who would lie about that in the middle of night. Their hired “security staff” seen the bedding and sheets basically deemed it was nasty enough for us to move to another room.
Our stress free weekend was ruined and ended up being filled with stress! We couldn’t even get comfortable enough to relax. In between the breakfast vouchers issues, the bed bug residue and dirty room switch, all we could think about was our luggage, hoping that no bed bugs got into that and that this was the worst hotel we have ever stayed at.
What made it worst was that I raved about this hotel before checking in, as I have stayed here in the past before. I will never stay here again!
Complimentary business breakfast at 1400 North (Mezzanine) was amazing and our service from Abdul was outstanding! He even offered coffees to go at the end! Great food, great service. I had a lot bagel with capers
Great stay. The rooms are nicely maintained. The weight room was above average and has everything you need while on the road. Breakfast spread was great, as well. Ask for Abdul - he was very helpful and kind!
Me and my 3 year old daughter accompanied my husband on a business trip last night. We came down to breakfast this morning and were delighted by the warm welcome from Abdul in the breakfast room. He was friendly and was very quick with service which was great for a hungry toddler. The breakfast buffet was wonderful with so many food options. The best part of which was Migale’s delicious omlets! This was a great experience!
