Love the historical vibe!

A nice change from your generic chain hotel. The doormen were welcoming and helpul as were the front desk staff. The rooms were small but comfortable, clean and cozyl We had everything we needed. The decor from the front living room area to the inside of the elevators was so interesting and funky. I will rate the Tavern in a separate review, but that was also top notch!!! Great location with cool restaurants nearby. I'd return!!!

Nice old, quaint, boutique hotel in the heart of the city

My husband and I enjoy staying at B&B's and quaint, boutique hotels when we travel so I researched and found this one for a reasonable price. It's a very nice looking, well decorated hotel located near the heart of the city so is easily accessible to everything. It has a nice, gourmet restaurant and bar in the hotel which is very nice to have! We ate breakfast there two mornings and it was delicious! The rooms are older of course but still nice, but not fancy. The noise is loud at night from the traffic and people. It looks like maybe they could seal the windows better to block the noise. They offer tea time at the hotel which we did one afternoon since we both enjoy tea. The bell men were always very helpful. I would recommend the hotel and would return to stay if I went back to DC.

Very nice boutique historic hotel

Enjoyable hotel, very strong drinks. At night the streets can be very loud with trucks backing up and car horns so bring ear plugs, it is in the city after all. Did not have a chance to try the breakfast. Would visit again.

Lovely historic building

We spent 3 days in DC and found this hotel excellent. As others have said, it is rather noisy as the road is very busy, but it's so central that you should expect that really. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Once we worked out how to use the shower controls (very fiddly) it was great. The staff were very helpful and cheerful. The bar, restaurant & breakfast service were excellent. The quality of the food was very good and reasonably priced for a city centre hotel. We would have no qualms about recommending this hotel and we will certainly use it again if we go back to DC.

Quaint hotel in the City centre

We booked through Booking. com and we were given an upgrade so we had a larger room. To be fair it was noisy although the windows were secondary glazed but it didn't stop us from sleeping - it is in the city. Staff were very helpful and courteous and we'd stay again. It had a seat we could sit on unlike the pokey room we had in NY!
