Many travelers associate the nation’s capital with hotels that are about as exciting as C-SPAN. But those looking for boutique flair will be well-served by Hotel Palomar, which brings a shot of personality to P Street with its modern, art-focused design. It works particularly well for pet lovers, as four-legged guests get free beds and food — there’s even a Bark “water” Bar in the lobby.
Bed & Bath
Though the hotel embraces funky flourishes, this Kimpton property doesn’t stray into overstyling. There may be zebra and leopard print robes in the closet, but there’s traditionalism to be found as well: Rooms come with comfortable beds, fluffy throws and (in Spa rooms) a large soaking tub for two.
As with any Kimpton property, there’s a nightly lobby wine hour outside Urbana, the restaurant, as well as free Wii games that keep families at the hotel occupied. In summer, sangria is added to the daily happy hour, along with iced coffee and lemonade.
How to Get There
Another fabulous trip to the Kimpton Palomar DC. As usual the staff provided a great welcome and we were given a free upgrade to a spa room for my birthday along with a bottle of wine and a cake waiting in the room for us.
We used the secret password at check in and that got us a $25 credit on our bill ,,,,, result!
The room was very quiet and comfortable with a huge walk-in closet that even I couldn't fill!
The hotel is really well located in Dupont Circle and if you ever go to DC for the Gay Pride Parade then this hotel is right on the parade route.
There are plenty of good places to eat nearby and it is really easy to walk into Georgetown straight down P street.
We left DC via Ronald Raegan airport and it was very quick and easy to get there by subway.
When we are next in DC we won't stay anywhere else!
This hotel is really nice, with a great atmosphere. Staff are all exceptionally friendly and helpful, and also knowledgeable of D.C and the area surrounding the hotel. The next door restaurant, Urbana has exceptionally good food, although could be considered a tad pricey for some. The rooms were of a high quality and I found the beds very comfortable. There is also a pool, which is sparsely decorated, but it still has sun beds. Overall I really enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Palomar, and would definitely stay again.
It’s my first time to write a review, because this hotel is amazing! We came here on 4th of July. The staffs are super friendly and welcoming, especially we met Ella and Will!
Ella help us a lot when we move from the other hotel, and even send us a bottle of Champagne with a sweet card! Will help us to print out all the documents we need and had a really great conversation!
Thanks to all the staffs here to make this trip perfect!
I recently booked a last minute weekend stay here. On such short notice I needed a hotel that was easily accessible to public rail lines, food and nightlife. After booking through a 3rd party I wasn’t initially too sure if this was going to be what I wanted but upon arrival it became sure to me that this was in fact the right choice!
When I arrived to the hotel I was initially greeted by the front desk clerk on duty, Will Hargrove. He was extremely hospitable and welcoming and probably made my stay 10 times better than it would’ve been. He made the check-in process quick and hassle free, giving detailed information on the hotel and the local area. The hotel overall was very clean. The King suite I was in was one of the best I’ve experienced. The food and drinks in the common area were great! Throughout my stay I routinely entered and exited the hotel, Mr. Hargrove actually remembered me by name and greeted me on sight. These types of encounters make a stay at a hotel feel more like a stay at your home!
I definitely will suggest this hotel to others and I will be back for future stays when I visit the D.C. area!
Spacious rooms, friendly and helpful staff, outdoor pool and well equipped fitness. Very good value for money. High speed internet free of charge. The hotel also provides bicycles free of charge; despite of heavy traffic in DC riding bike is a great way of exploring the city.
