How to Get There
I’m currently staying here (May 28th through June 6th 2018) and I have to say I’m pretty disappointed in my stay. My opinion is that this place does not represent the Westin brand well at all.
We’re here visiting family - my wife, our twin 7 year olds and myself are staying in a double queen room. We’re staying 9 nights total. Originally was going to book a hotel in Middletown but it was all filled.
Location - we’re here visiting family and friends so the location works nicely.
Lack of room cleaning:
The first 5 days the room was only cleaned once. Please note I opted out of the green option - only due to the fact we have two kids with us. I had to go to the front desk two days in a row to beg them to come clean the room - it still didn’t work. Mainly empty the trash and get us fresh towels. I ended up having to put the trash outside the door along with the towels. And no, we didn’t have the do not disturb sign out.
We actually ran out of toilet paper and I had to get them to bring us some! I had to (again) go down to the front desk and tell them that I want the room cleaned everyday. And I had to talk to the manager to make that happen.
Missing items from the room:
After the cleaning service finally came, she still didn’t leave any toilet paper, shampoo or body wash. Again, another trip to the front desk.
Cable was out for the last two days. So no TV.
Lack of basic “stuff” in the room:
Missing items such as the room service menu. Had to call the front desk again.
Bar / Restaurant closing early:
Sunday night seems to have some discrepancies between what the hours were.
All in all I would not choose this location again.
My experience with WestIn Wilmington was so bad, that I didn’t even spend my night at the hotel. I travel for work and pleasure all around the world, and spend most of my nights on hotels - I didn’t expect to find the worst hotel here at WestIn.
Before arrival we called the hotel to ask if we could have a package delivered at the hotel. The hotel received the package for us, signed it and kept it in their storage unit.
At our arrival it shows that they never logged this package in their system, and claims that they didn’t receive it (well, then someone else has access to their locked package room)
When they bring out the package it shows that it has been opened and emptied. Even the guy who brought it to us agreed that the weight of the package could impossible contain two iPhones.
All their explanations changes. They claim that they didn’t do anything wrong. Told us to talk with their insurance and not them. Now, 6 months later, nothing happened and WestIn didn’t answer on any contact since we got told to reach out for their insurance (who of course denied to pay anything)
Horrible customer service, and its proven that you can’t trust leaving you stuff with the hotel.
Visited for a wedding. This was an excellent choice by the Bride's family. It was so close to all the venues. Newer hotel with a great check-in concierge DiNeisha was her name! I loved my room, very comfortable and gorgeous linens. Sleeping was a dream in this hotel. No outside noise, very quiet. Nice restaurant for breakfast.
We chose to stay at the Westin, even though it was a bit out of the way for our weekend plans. The pluses: there are several decent restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, and staff helped us with a fed ex package. The negatives: other reviews note the place is a bit tired. That is true. Unfortunately, some of it could be easily remedied, but hotel management ignores it. The toilet paper holder was loose. The shower valve faceplate was loose and askew. The shower floor was dirty, as if housekeeping never scrubbed it clean.
We ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Although not too busy, it took way too long to seat us. Another 5 minutes to get menus. Then 10 to 15 minutes before our orders were taken. And it wasn’t too busy.
We returned late afternoon to find the television not working. The front desk said someone would be at our room to fix it within 15 minutes. Nothing happened. We went out to dinner and returned. Still not fixed. Went to the front desk to inquire. Apparently television had been out for 12 hours already and a number of guests were complaining. Manager didn’t care.
We called Westin customer service and are awaiting their response.

Very nice full service hotel located near the river in downtown Wilmington. I was able to get a room at the last minute for a business trip. My room was excellent as I got upgraded to a King Suite. I was arrived late, and departed first thing so I did not get to experience the hotels other services. Service at the hotel was very good.
