Dirty! Noisy! Sketchy!
Reviewed 3 days ago

We stayed at Beach House Dewey for two nights in July 2018. The pictures online look so welcoming, but we were extremely disappointed to see our actual accommodations. Our room was cramped and dingy. There is no closet, just a few hooks precariously attached to the wall. The floors are scummy-looking and perpetually sandy (even when we arrived, before we had tracked in any sand on our own feet.) The bathroom is tiny, and some of the wall tiles were missing--revealing yucky dirt and mold. The whole facility seems a little grimy: dirt on the walls, on the area rug, in the mini-fridge. Many conveniences that you take for granted in any hotel room were missing: alarm clock; iron; bedside outlets for charging phones; closet space. The walls are paper-thin. You can hear every noise from the neighboring rooms. We were awakened on our first night by a very loud phone conversation being conducted next door; from about 3:00 until 4:00 in the morning, my husband banged on the wall numerous times to no avail. The noise kept us awake for hours. On our second night, we were kept awake by the loud music coming from the bar across the street. This isn't the hotel's fault, obviously, but it definitely detracted from our ability to enjoy a beach "getaway."

Despite an overall disappointing experience, here are a couple positives. Location couldn't be better. We loved the easy access to the beach. It's a quick walk down the street to a well-maintained (though crowded) public beach. It's also just a mile or so to the boardwalk area at Rehoboth Beach, and about a ten-minute drive south to Bethany Beach. We also enjoyed the pool (even though it, too, was a bit shabby...cigarette butts lying around everywhere, sand and debris in the water.) My two sons didn't notice any of that, and had a blast swimming. And we appreciated that the housekeeping staff straightened up our room while we were out, replenishing our supply of towels, and arranging the kids' stuffed animals in a cute little scene on the bed. This was a nice touch. I also thought the woman at the front desk was very kind when I checked in. We arrived a couple hours prior to check-in time, but our room was ready so we dropped our things off early without a problem. However--these positives aren't enough for me to recommend this hotel. Check-out time couldn't come soon enough for me.

Best manager ever!!!!

Went on a family trip. We didn’t actually stay in this hotel room, we were actually staying at a condo down the street and the condo only had two spaces available. I was stuck looking for a parking space for myself. I spent an hour looking for over night parking and nothing. I decided to take a chance and see if this hotel would sale me. Parking space. I went in asking and I spoke with Mike the manager and Freddy. He saved me from risking my car getting towed. Not only did he allow me to take a parking space in the hotel but he didn’t charge me. He was extremely nice. I will make it a point to stay in this hotel because if this is how mike treats people who don’t even have a room in his hotel. I can imagine the treatment if I were a guest. Thank you sooo much Mike!! I’m so grateful.

Girls Trip!

Three of us stayed in a room with two double beds. We wished the beds were bigger but only stayed one night so it wasn’t that bad. Room was clean, modern and had what we needed. Steps away from the beach which was awesome! Outdoor shower and hose to rinse off. Outdoor pool with plenty of seating. Super cool to see the lights flashing in the pool at night. In the heart of Dewey. Within walking distance of all the bars. Right across the street from Bottle and Cork so it gets pretty loud at night. Would stay there again.

Center of all the action!

Rooms are very spacious, clean, great décor. Perfect views of sunsets over the bay from the third floor! A hop skip and a jump away from night clubs, beach, family friendly restaurants, great ice cream shop, and liquor store across the street.

Managed to perfection!

Great find

Couldn't be happier. Rooms are spotless. Pool was crystal clear. Price was fair. Air conditioning was super cold. Fridge and micro in room. Stayed three nights and will definitely return. Staff was friendly and efficient. Bring your own coffee. No breakfast.
