At the southern tip of Santorini, Sea Sound – White Katikies is an affordable apart-hotel in a quiet spot overlooking the Aegean Sea. In keeping with the island’s aesthetic, the retreat features white and cream tones inside and out. The 29 apartment-style units offer a home-away-from-home feel, with spacious living areas, kitchenettes, AC and tea- and coffeemaking facilities. Each features a spacious terrace with sea views. The poolside bar serves cocktails and snacks made from local produce — some as local as the hotel’s own farm. Boat trips and horseback riding can be arranged by the hotel.
In the Area
From the Sea Sounds’s peaceful location, it’s a short drive to the seaside resort of Agios Georgios and the black beach of Perivolos. Perissa, with its own black sand volcanic beach and bustling restaurant and café scene, is less than 10 minutes away, also on the eastern shore of the island. Drive to the west side to buzzing Fira and picturesque Oia, with its whitewashed houses and dome roofs perched on cliffs overlooking the Aegean.
How to Get There
I would have given a good rating to this hotel if I had been asked to do so at the beginning of our holidays : nice environment, nice pool, friendly staff... but what happened at the end of your stay is just a shame.
On our last day, one of my clothes has disappeared from the room between the morning and the evening. I am 100% sure I had put it in the closet before leaving the room (it is a night kimono so I wouldn't go out with it or bring it outside...), and it wasn't there when we came back at the end of the day. We searched the entire room just in case, but it wasn't there either. Just so you know, the room was always locked if we were not inside, so nobody could get in except the cleaning staff.
We informed the staff right away on the following day but they just told us none of the employees reported having found a piece of clothing. Still, it cannot have just disappeared !! Even worse, the receptionnist just kep saying they've never had any theft problem with their staff, so what I was reporting was impossible. She didn't even try to know more about the situation and solve it, she just didn’t want to cope with it. No excuses, no consideration, nothing. I mean, I get it that it must be shocking for her (just like for us) to consider that clients could have been robbed, but the least she could do was to show us that she was trying to investigate and offer us any kind of help. As it was our departure day, we were not able to stay for too long and argue, or go to the police (honestly, we should have). But we reported the case to our travel agency so that the appropriate measures can be taken. This is such a shame…
1)Lovely little boutique hotel
2)Really friendly staff
3)Great for relaxation
4)Massive swimming pool
1) You really need some form of transport to stay here as the nearest authentic Greek Taverna is 20 minutes walk away
2) Breakfast is identical every morning with the same cliché hotel "muzak" playing every day
2) Food and wine are really expensive here €6.50 for a small glass of local wine when you can get 1/2 litre down the road for €4.50. €12 for a small cold plate of Moussaka!
Sea Sound has many positive points going for it if you are looking for perfect relaxation. Just hire some form of transport to explore the beautiful island of Santorini
Stayed with my wife and 2 year old son. When we arrived Lina welcomed us and offered us a welcome drink at the pool. We stayed one week and really enjoyed it. Peaceful. A bit off the beaten track so you'll need a car but for 30 Euros pd you can hire an automatic and off you go. Speed limit is 50 so its pretty chilled. Menu at the restaurant was good. Catered for adults and children. They have greek food and nice pizzas. Wine a bit pricey but good wines at least so you get what you pay for.
Rooms were great and clean. White washed everything just like the movies of Santorini...
The staff also brought food from the menu to our rooms. They worked very hard and always smiled despite a long summer.
Would recommend this place and if you're looking for a chilled out spot this is perfect.
I have just come back yesterday from a 3 week long trip to the Greek islands and I cannot tell you how much I miss the staff of Sea Sound White Katoikies. There are no words to describe the hospitality of the place and the people are genuine and authentic. I will not even try to find words, because it is impossible. Suffice to say that you will feel so well taken care of and such warmth that you will want to go back every year.
Yes, Oia has a wonderful view but it is the people that make a place memorable and this was Sea Sound White Katoikies for me.
Sea Sound hotel is located at the south of the island of Santorini. Away from the hustle and busy and more expensive prices of the north of the island. The hotel itself is beautiful and is very well kept. My boyfriend and I chose this hotel as we wanted peace and quiet and relaxtion and we certainly got that. The location is perfect, walking distamce from restaurants while at the same time feeling like a world of its own. The owners and staff of this hotel could not have been nicer or more helpful. They made us feel like the hotel was our home away from home and could not do enough for us. The island is small so visiting the well known places such as Oia and Fira is very easy. You can drive the length of the island in under an hour and we were able to do this using a quad we rented which the hotel organised for us. The pool at the hotel is pristine with plenty sun loungers and comfortable seats. The hotel has its own personal beach but if using make sure to bring sea shoes as there are some sharp rocks. The pool bar is where everything happens from breakfast to dinner and Georgie there couldn't have been more amazing!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone from families to couples. You will not be dissapointed.
