How to Get There
We stayed at Kastelli Resort for 7 days and we had a wonderful time. The check in was quick and easy - during the check in we were able to arrange a one day car rental for the same day! The rental company delivered the car to the hotel and we were off to see the island.
The room was very nice and clean. The pool area was beautiful, organized and clean. The breakfast was very well run with plenty and fresh options - we had sometimes lunch around the pool and the food was amazing! There is really nothing negative to say. Perfect location - lovely room - wonderful and helpful staff!!
I can’t wait to go back in the future!
We stayed for 2 weeks in late August at Kastelli Resort and held our wedding reception there. We chose Kastelli because the reviews were fantastic but it exceeded our expectations in every way! The management team were brilliant, Antonis, Michael lead the team professionally, nothing was too much trouble.
9 of us had rooms that were spotless, poolside for the younger ones, quieter rooms for those that wanted them.
Our reception was held overlooking the beautiful pool area, the service, food and wine were perfect.
Kim and I have travelled a reasonable amount and experienced lots of places where guests are viewed as an opportunity to bump up normal prices, Kastelli however came in with better prices for anything we wanted to book. Transport, private boat trip, you name it.
We have always said we don't go back to the same place twice, here we will make an exception. We will be back!
Thank you for everything you did for us!
We enjoyed two very relaxing and quiet weeks at Kastelli, at the start of October.
We arrived to a warm welcome and brief guided tour of this beautifully clean hotel. The room (306) was ground floor with access to the main pool via our terrace.
It was good sized with all we required and a good standard of cleaning daily.
The breakfast was a bit boring and samey and could do with more fresh fruits and / or cereals for those not wanting scrambled egg, bacon and those funny little sausages!
We chose not to eat in the hotel restaurant as we always like to dine out when away and can recommend Fistikies (3 minute stroll away)
There is a ‘library’ with a book exchange system with a large number to choose from.
The gym is small and limited in equipment but was never full and why would it be if you’re meant to be on holiday? Having said that we did use it!!
There is a spa where the staff were very helpful and friendly.
There were four pools available to guests and plenty of sun beds to choose from.
As it was October we chased the sun around the main pool but I’m sure in mid season there would be no need. The main pool area is undergoing a revamp this winter so may be better next October.
This is a very nice and very quiet hotel. It is only minutes away from the strip of restaurants with pushy front of house staff but even closer to easier and quieter establishments (Alexander for example)
Everything you could need is in short walking distance of the hotel either from the front or the rear.
There are great views of the hill that houses Ancient Thera and is a good test of your stamina, especially if you take the rocky path via the chapel!
My friend and I stayed at Santorini Kastelli in October and were blown away with how beautiful the resort was. We were only able to stay for 1 night, but wish we would have had more time to enjoy the amenities and explore the Kamari beach area of Santorini. It was a bit of a hike away from the Oia and Fira areas, but a short taxi or bus ride is not really a problem (especially if you're staying more than 1 night!). My special shout-out is for the staff, who went above and beyond to help my friend and me when we accidentally missed our ferry back to Athens. They helped us research other ferries and flights, sat down and helped us book new tickets, and gave us a complimentary ride to the airport (which saved us about 40 euro). They made an otherwise stressful situation very easy for us. I would highly recommend to anyone, and will definitely be visiting again (and staying longer than 1 night!).
I would have preferred to award the Kastelli an extra half * but its not accepted. This is a beautiful resort on first impressions with Bougainvillea dotted all over the pristine blue and white buildings. Sadly its not a 5* Hotel whether in Greece or not. Our Junior Suite looked like a good choice to celebrate my birthday with a semi private pool, but the smell of the drains and the awful noise of the pool gurgling all night plus the thin walls was unacceptable. On the second day my husband moved the broken brick in the pool to stem the noise but the cleaners moved it back. So, we spoke to the manager who immediately offered us the choice of two other rooms, we opted for the Master Suite overlooking the Infinity pool, a big improvement. Why such a poor score you may wonder, here's why.... Firstly we lost two nights sleep, ALL the pools are freezing cold, maybe ok in summer months but not October. Flies very annoying. No tissues in the rooms surely, a basic bed and breakfast would provide tissues, also we had to ask for hand soap, dressing gowns and slippers which should have been in our room on arrival. The fruit and wine basket included in our tariff( again we had to ask where they were) comprised of one apple one orange and a rotten peach. Unforgiveable for an alleged 5* hotel was the Nescafe tubes of instant coffee!!!! There is no entertainment as such, again perhaps its the time of the year but it was a bit boring. So, that is my reason for the mediocre score bearing in mind the prices they charge. Now I would like to point out the more positive side to the Kastelli.... the problems we encountered were met and dealt with immediately by a friendly and courteous manager. Staff friendly and professional. The food perfectly acceptable even though the wine list was limited as they were closing for the season. A Library with quite a good range of books was a godsend. As other reviewers have noted the Kastelli is in a great position away from the main drag where I found the restaurants and shops ( not all) a bit depressing. There is though at the end of the lane an authentic Chinese/ Thai restaurant. A regular bus service runs outside the hotel that will take you to Thira and Oia for a couple of euros, approx. every 20 mins. A word of warning when arriving at the of the bus station in Thira, Kamikaze bus drivers are parking and reversing without any semblance of care...you have been warned.
