Perfect Honeymoon

This was everything we hoped for. The facilities, the accommodation and the service were exceptional.
As a Hotel Manager myself, I can be quite a difficult guest however the staff at Santo Maris surpassed all expectations easily....the response to any request was dealt with happily and with speed.
The location was fantastic - very close to the action but far enough away so you do not get disturbed by the hustle and bustle.
If we had any negatives it would be that villa 106 is on the edge and there was some building work going on which was quite noisy but to be fair, we only mentioned this once and we were told they would look at options but we said not to bother.
Also the menu in the restaurant was a little strange - not to our taste and very limited but there is so much choice around that it should not put you off!
I hope we will be back - it was heaven....

Don't come here. Not worth the money

I usually don't write reviews, but felt a need to share my bad experience. My husband and I were so excited to spend our wedding Anniversary at Santo Maris and we were honestly so disappointed with our stay.

When we arrived we requested a late check out and they said they would make a note of our request and they would notify us if they were not able to honor the request. Because they did not notify during our trip I assumed that we were going to get a late check out and changed our flight to a later time to Athens. On the day that we were checking out, we received a called at 10:45AM saying that our check out is at 11AM and if we needed help with our luggage. I mentioned to them that we were told we could have a late check out at 1PM or even 2PM. She said she didn't see any notes of that and we had 15 minutes to pack up and get out of the room. We were so upset because not only did no one tell us that we could not get the late check out, but there was no note of it at all! Not only that but we had changed out flight time assuming that we were getting a late check out time.

More issues! It was storming and windy the night we checked in and it was a little late so we ordered Thai food to be delivered to the hotel as we didn't feel like eating out. When our food arrived we received a call from the front desk and we were told that food deliveries/outside food is not allowed as they want to prevent issues such as food poisoning. This is absurd! We were never told this rule of no outside food, and are you just trying to make us eat on your property every single day?? We have stayed at some many nice hotels worldwide, and this is the first time we have ever encountered this.

Now to the room. We were both shocked at how the room and view looked nothing like the photos. Our Junior Deluxe Suite is described as being able to sleep 3 people as there is a couch/sititng area by the tv as seen in the photos. Our room could only fit two people, and there was on couch or siting area, only one chair! The view is described as a sunset and sea view, and the view we were given was blocked by many buildings.

Worst of all, the bathroom is so dangerous!! There is no door or wall for the shower, it is completely open and water sprays all over the floor in the bathroom. My husband slipped at night when using the restroom because of the bathroom floor still being slippery.

We toughed it out for 2 nights, but we were so unhappy with our room that we ended up complaining and they said that not all rooms will look like the photos. I told them that it should at least be described correctly or mentioned on the website that not all rooms have a couch, or can fit 3 people, or the bathroom will look nothing like the photos, the view is completely blocked. They said to pack our things up, and later in the day they would move us to a different room. The room that we were moved to looked similar to the photos online. This is the room that we should have been given in the first place. Instead of being apologetic, the staff and management made us feel as if we were bothering them. I was told that we were given a Wheelchair accessible room which is why the shower had no enclosing and water sprayed everywhere. I feel like this room should not have been given to non wheelchair couples. It was so dangerous!

We booked 4 nights at Santo Maris thinking it would be the best place we had ever stayed, and honestly I wished we had stayed elsewhere. This hotel does not treat it's guests well, and they make excuses for everything. They absolutely ruined our Anniversary. Shame on you Santo Maris!

Best experience ever!

We had an amazing experience at Santo Maris. From the second you make your booking to the second you are leaving the hotel, you get amazing treatment. Staff are so nice and facilities are perfect and very clean. Definitely want to come back here and I recommend Santo Maris 100%. Also, it is very close to the beautiful oiá village. Amazing!!!

Excellent suite with fantastic views. All facilities including the spa were brilliant, with the quality of massages exceptional (both by Anna). The breakfast was also very good. Friendly and helpful staff.

Only two minor areas of improvement suggested:

1. More variety particularly for vegetarians in the evening restaurant, which was nice but not the same quality as places in Oia

2. There is an airport transfer for arrival provided by the hotel and not for departure, which is a little inconsistent
