The ancient volcanic island of Santorini is an otherworldly Greek destination known for its dramatic landscapes, picturesque clifftop towns and blue-domed rooftops. With chic white drapes, elegant cream-colored furnishings and a blissfully private location, the luxurious, TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence-winning Markezinis Suites fits right in on this gorgeous island.
The one-time residence of a former prime minister, the mansion is divided into five deluxe accommodations. Wonderfully removed and attended with impeccable service, this is a place where every conceivable comfort – Jacuzzi baths, feather pillows, fluffy bathrobes and more – is at hand. To really live it up in the lap of luxury, be sure to spend some time at the sophisticated Elia Restaurant and wine bar, where a leisurely wine-tasting is a must.
With vaulted ceilings and beautiful hardwood floors, these stunning open-plan suites are pure elegance. You’ll find 320-375 square feet of space to stretch out in and plenty of soft natural light. Neo-classical subtleties give the suites an aristocratic air that oozes luxury, and the Jacuzzi bathtub will certainly make it hard to leave.
Elia Restaurant offers intimate poolside dining, serving a fine menu of Mediterranean cuisine. With a stylish vibe and tasteful décor, this is the perfect place to spend a romantic evening. Breakfast can, of course, be a bit more lazy, with a breakfast-in-bed option available in the comfort of your own suite.
Situated in the Southern Aegean sea, Santorini is located in the only inhabited volcano cauldron in the world and attracts swathes of worldly travelers to its burnt-sienna sands. Near the hotel, in the peaceful area of Messaria, you’ll find lovely whitewashed villages perched high on tall cliffs and lined with boutiques, cafés, gourmet restaurants and wineries. The best thing to do here is to simply stroll around the area; you’re never far from a spectacular volcanic beach or an incredible panoramic view, and the relaxed island vibe will make you feel perfectly content to just explore in the sun.
How to Get There
This hotel provided the foundation for a vacation in Santorini that exceeded all of our expectations. We are treated preciously in this grand hotel of only several rooms, surrounded by a local school, church, and plenty of parking. Yet we get all the benefits of the tourists that pay triple to stay in a less beautiful room for the Caldera view: we spent all of our sunny afternoons and sunsets by the pool at the sister hotels and were treated like one of their guests. At night, we relaxed in the grand majestic rooms of Markezinis Suites. A car allows all of the hotels to be experienced seamlessly. I would say that a vehicle is pretty indispensable.
Natasha and John were genuinely helpful and relaxed hosts. Nothing was too much trouble for them. My wife and I especially appreciated ALEX, who by the end of our 4-day stay, knew what kind of tea we liked and brought it to our room. Her attitude was always lovely and professional. We were truly content to be in Santorini and, on one rainy day, spend an entire morning and afternoon in our room drinking tea, reading, and watching movies.
No need to be skeptical of the 5-star ratings on Tripadvisor. The breakfasts and service are outstanding as advertised. We would not come to Santorini without booking this hotel again.
We had been traveling in Greece visiting Crete, Santorini and Naxos.
On Santorini we had been at the Lilium hotel and another one nearby.Although you don't have the great view that Santorini offers, you get very nice rooms and exeptional breakfast!
Air conditioner workted great, in August , a must.
We had been to the regular room and in the more expensive option, smaller one was more to our liking;)
The hotel is located in a complex of villas which is very authentic and nice to see, rent an ATV and go exploring!
No pool, but you can go to the sisters hotels to use their pools, we never did.
Out of Crete, Naxos and some other hotels in Santorini,
that one was the most charming and offered best value for our money.
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The room was great and the experience was amazing. We loved the breakfast each morning just outside of our room. The hotel is in a great location in the middle of the island, a short ride/walk to Fira and not too far from oia either. Can’t say enough good things about this place.
Nice host, great food and very clean rooms. perfect for couples. It is located in the centre of the town, close to bus stop and supermarket. Because the town is in the middle of Santorini, 5 min by bus away Fira.
My friend and I were lucky enough to stay at this unique hotel for four nights. Its a small hidden gem with comfortable amenities and kind hosts. Giannhs was especially accommodating and met our every need. They went up and beyond to make our stay special. The breakfast was set out each morning for us at a requested time and was incredible! I would highly encourage other travelers to stay here.
