La Maltese Estate
What We Love
- The pool deck includes a terrace and an infinity pool
- An excellent on-site restaurant — one of the best on Santorini
- Free nightly tastings of local wines
What To Know
- The property is open seasonally from April through November
- The pool is quite small, as most are on Santorini
- Imerovigli is not as heavily traveled as other parts of Santorini; it’s a quiet getaway
- The hotel’s formal, classic French design can seem out of place on Santorini
- La Maltese is one of the few cliff hotels to welcome children
- Free WiFi
Set high atop Santorini’s caldera (820 feet above the Aegean, to be exact), La Maltese is housed in a 100-year-old neoclassical mansion off the tourist path in the lightly traveled town of Imerovigli. Relaxing comes high on the agenda, and a stay here is all about enjoying the nightly wine tastings on the outdoor deck, sunning yourself by the pool, and breakfasting alfresco on the balcony (breakfast is served until 3 p.m.). La Maltese lacks many standard hotel formalities, with no reception area or strict meal schedule, and the lobby-cum-living-room is dotted with antiques, oriental rugs and ornate mirrors, making the whole place feel like your own private villa. Each of its nine rooms are luxurious and elegant, with handmade four-poster beds and intricate gilt mirrors. The Honeymoon and Master Suites are as spacious as they are lavish; both split over two floors they come with their own private verandas with volcano views, while the Standard Double Room has a veranda with inland views. Of course, days here aren’t meant to be spent fully en chambre, and the hotel’s pool deck has a terrace, gorgeous infinity pool, and plenty of loungers for lazing the afternoon away. Then there’s the spa, with its indoor heated Jacuzzi, hammam, sauna, jet showers, relaxation area and experienced therapists. After you’ve rested up, you can get out and explore Santorini in style. The staff can arrange a car to the best beaches, or a private yacht charter. When your day is done and you’re enjoying the fiery sunset, it’s easy to see why this island has enchanted travelers for centuries.
How to Get There
We cant find words to describe how lovely and kind we were treated at this hotel .
It’s one of the best hotels in Santorini, very classy and fancy and at the same time we feel like home .
The staff is very polite , kind, friendly and most important very well prepared. We would like to send a special thanks to Annita, Johnas and Maria.
My daughter said Annita is the best !! Lol
So the story to this Hotel is that our parents stayed here last year, they were more than disappointed. After two days they had to switch the room into an other Hotel because of their disorganisation in the hotel. They complained and got the offer to go here again for 5 days - they didn’t want to so we’re here now.
We arrived and we got a drink in the Buddha Bar, it was nice ( the only good thing about it). After that drink my sister and i got to see our room, No windows, not really much Lamps in the room, so actually not enough light in the room by night. We went up to the bed and we got to see a blanket without the cover on the bed, so we asked for another blanket to have two, and the cover for the blanket, but they dint have both of it.
After that disappointing experience we started the shower, no hot water for 10 min.... The bathroom is moulding all over, even the paper at the wall of the toilet. Beneath the coffee machine was a lot of dirt from coffee and all the bottles in the Minibar stuck to the floor, so really yummy. We are still on our first day of this 5 Star Hotel Holiday on Santorini, and we are considering to book another hotel which is worth it’s money.
( dirty glasses, the q-Pad glass is so disgusting we touched it with a napkin....)
( We stayed 5 days on Mykonos previous in the 5 Star Hotel Utopia, and compared to this one it is a „5 star“ difference ! )
I stayed in hotels with 0 Stars which were better than this one and i payed less than a fourth of it’s price.
Have never ever been more disappointed than right now.
They wanna have your money and don’t wanna give any service to it,unless you spend some money in the Bar.
We stayed here for 4 days as part of our honeymoon and we LOVED every minute of it. Our room was super private with a pool on top. We were lucky enough to watch the most incredible sunsets from our balcony and the customer service from the hotel manager as well as receptionist Maria and waitress Anita was just fantastic.
Travelling with a baby can be hard but the staff went over and beyond for us. They even had someone help us with our bags as there were many stairs to and from our room to reception.
Highly reccomend this place. It was AWESOME!
Cheers La Maltese Estate team! ❤️
