How to Get There
To make a very long story short, the pictures are deceiving and the quality of accommodations altogether not worth the money. Do NOT believe what you’re seeing. There are tons of other options in the area that are the same price and have the same views.
-the rooms are dark and musty (they’ll say that all rooms in the area but it’s patently false; we moved hotels the minute we got there and thank goodness we did)
-the lounge chairs are outdated and dirty
-the customer service was terrible - nobody to help us bring our bags down the steep steps to the room
-the steps don’t have guardrails or anti-slip pads - quite dangerous
-the shower (in our room) was like from a bad summer camp - just a gross curtain and a rod
-holes in the walls
-the safe (requiring a 20 euro deposit for the key) is small and can’t fit anything smaller than a Kindle fire
This place is effectively the Motel 6 of Santorini...don’t be fooled.
The beauty of ILIOVASILEMA SUITES is beyond words. The magnificent VIEW, the simple, cosy decor of the suites and the warmth of its staff add up to a most beautiful representation of Santorini. We stayed in Suite 17 and it was perfect for us. Others may find it less so, that’s their opinion but for us, it’s perfecto! With the vantage view of the caldera, the Skaros Rock and the most gorgeous sunset, we couldn’t ask for more. We enjoyed breakfast at our terrace, the pastry basket was filled with the most delicious sweet pastries. We didn’t dine in the Suites simply because we love exploring Santorini and the great restaurants/cafe nearby. You just hv to be here to believe this surreal experience. High FIVE all the way !! Somehow can’t seem to upload the more beautiful pics but these attached will suffice.
This hotel is at the top of the island of Santorini and offers some of the best views of the island and the Aegean Sea.
A continental breakfast with a lovely variety of pastries was brought to our room each day. Service was cordial and really good.
Inside the room, accommodations were pretty ordinary. Since the hotel is on a very steep hillside, there were at least 100 steps to climb twice a day or more. All things considered, the hotel is very popular and is a better-than-average place for a vacation.
When we arrived at the hotel we were stunned by the views. Absolutely gorgeous. Our room was licated a bit to the side so we had a lot of privacy in our balcony, we upgraded to the jacuzzi room for a couple nights, the room itself was better but you have a constant traffic of people so wouldn't reccomend doing that. The staff are great, as soon as you come in, they show you a map and things to see. The hotel is in great location, walkable to Thira and bus station not too far away but best if you get a car and drive around the whole island but dont park just outside the hotel, you will get blocked in (guaranteed). The food at the restaurant is not great. Gor convenience the room service is sufficient but doesnt taste great, also the breakfast could be improved. If you just have what comes with it without any extras it will never feed two people. Thats my only negative. Would stay here again without a second thought, it has the best views and its looked after well.
Had a wonderful stay there - highly recommend it. The staff is beyond wonderful and so attentive and helpful. The views are magical, and it’s in a great location. Convenient to get to Fira by foot, but also quiet and peaceful, away from the hustle and bustle of Oia. The hotel is located on top of the hill, so it’s very private.
We didn’t get the private pool, and it was honestly better. The balcony had wonderful views and we had a lot of privacy. In the morning we would lay by the pool area and the big open balcony, which overlooks the caldera. The rooms with private pool didn’t look very private, as guests would walk by it all the time, so I’m glad we didn’t pay extra for that.
The only minor cons - I think the hotel needs a bit of refurbishing (newer towels, etc) but honestly, it was great for us. Also you can’t oversee the caldera from the pool (if you’re looking for a place like that). The pool is very deep, so kids would need lots of supervision.
