Summer Vacation
Reviewed 2 days ago

My husband and I sadly just left Imerovigli fir the first leg of our summer vacation. We booked the Iliovasilema Suite with a private balcony with a caldera view and a heated private infinity pool with built in water jets....Amazing!!! The suite was very spacious with a mini bar, eat-in kitchen, private pool area with outdoor shower, 2 full bathrooms, a nice queen size bed, and spacious closet area. There were plenty of power outlets...be sure to bring your own adapters, 2 televisions which we did not use due to most channels being in Greek, which is to be expected. Our view was amazing. We experienced the most beautiful sunsets we have ever seen in our lives! Arranging for transfers and tours were a breeze. Room service was pretty good. Our room came with continental breakfast with the option to choose from the al la carte menu without an extra charge. It was surprisingly chilly during early morning and night which we actually appreciated, so be prepared for that. The rooms can get hot but our AC worked just fine and we appreciated that as well. We walked to Fira which is a 30 minute strenuous walk but we felt the location of the hotel was perfect. It was very close to markets, restaurants, the bus station and a quick taxi ride to Oia. We would have taken the bus but the bus driver in Oia literally shut the door in our faces and drove off 😖😤, luckily we took a taxi for 20 euros... we felt this was fair coming from the U.S. it was seamless and about 15 minutes...beats a 3 hour walk! Overall our experience was good. Kudos to Fay, Maria, Manos and all the staff. We highly recommend and if you can splurge, get the room we had or one with a private jacuzzi. People do walk by and most will speak typically telling you how lucky you are to have the private pool 😉.

Gorgeous Views

Gorgeous views!!! We spent a bit more to get the junior suite with the private hot tub and we were happy we did. It got a bit chilly at night so having the hot tub was a nice thing to have after the beautiful sun set. Having this room we also got an upgraded breakfast which was very good!! We had a big ham and cheese omelette (there were more types you could get), pastries, cereal, fruit, coffee, juice - well worth it since it is usually an additional charge for more options. The staff was very friendly and always helped with any questions we had. Easy and quick walk to the bus to go to Fira or Oia! Bus only cost 1.80 euro a person.

Transfer to the ferry port was 15 a person which was a bit high. Also you couldn’t flush toilet paper in toilet which was kind of unappealing but bad plumbing happens on the island unless you are at a 5 star resort. Also the pool wasn’t the best if you are looking to lounge - it was deep everywhere and couldn’t stand or sit anywhere in it. It did have nice lounge patios with chairs though with killer views! Bed was a bit hard but we slept fine.

Very Enjoyable Stay

Stayed here for a week in early June and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. A very warm welcome upon arrival and our cases were taken down to our room with a complimentary bottle of wine waiting for you. You need to be aware that there are many steps leading up and down to your room, to the reception, to leave the hotel at the top or bottom so if steps are a problem for you this would not be for you. As the hotels are built into the cliffside overlooking the fabulous Caldera they are all like this but it does mean your view is uninterrupted and is stunning. The rooms are quirky, cave like, and not like anything we have stayed in before but walking along and looking at the others they are all very similar in this area. Our room was narrow but long and the bathroom very unusual to say the least, but everywhere, our room and surrounding area, is immaculately clean. I did query if we had the correct room as ours was classed as a “Superior Double Room” but noted the rooms next to ours had a hot tub and ours did not. To us “Superior” means better than something else so I wanted to know what rooms where not “Superior” – what were we better than? They said our room was bigger than other double rooms, bearing in mind our room wasn’t big, I asked what room numbers were smaller and they mentioned a few so I went to have a look and to be fair ours was bigger and with a better outlook. The hot tubs are classed as honeymoon rooms so if you want a hot tub then make sure you request this but be advised they are not private and on the terrace where the pathways are that everyone uses to get anywhere. We did have a fridge and mini bar and TV but no drawers so only hangers, it would benefit from drawers being in there.
The staff cannot do enough for you if you ask. There is a tiny pool which is extremely deep and some sunbeds available. Breakfast needs to be booked at reception by the night before and is served to your room and you can eat it outside on your terrace. Breakfast can be served from 8.30 – 11, we would have preferred it earlier which is just our personal preference, we did ask but it was not possible. The breakfast is continental style with also a choice of omelette with bacon, scrambled egg or boiled egg although there are other things on offer at an extra charge.
Be aware that although it states car parking is available here it is highly unlikely you will park close to this hotel as the area is very small and extremely busy. We had a hire car and at times it was total chaos trying to park there but further down there is an area with a basketball pitch and you can park there but again that does get busy. The local bus stop is not far and buses are regular and very cheap, we did use the bus one day and no problem at all. There are several tavernas/restaurants in the area some are pricey and others good value depends what you want to pay and if you are overlooking the Caldera or further into the town. Our pick up time for the airport was early evening but a room is available with sofas, TV and shower and toilet which was regularly cleaned as it was well used. We loved the location being between Fira and Oia as we prefer a quieter location with the option of those places being within reach if we want to go there so this was ideal. There is no need to go to Oia for the sunset as it gets crazily busy there and the sunsets here are wonderful. I would definitely stay there again.

MANAGEMENT DO NOT BELIEVE IN APOLOGIZING
Reviewed 1 week ago

Stayed there 3 nights for my sons wedding . The views were amazing and everything was nice up until the manager moved us to a supposedly bigger room for us to accommodate some of our guest . Management moved us at 130 pm when my wife was getting her hair done and our guest were arriving . The room was smaller and much harder to get to and was quite dangerous for my elderly parents . Our bags were thrown everywhere in the new room , photographer complained about lighting. Eventually my guests helped us move our luggage and belongings back to the original room after I complained. NO apology was given manager was rude and when asked to speak to her manager she just said ‘I’m it’ which she wasn’t. Eventually we spoke to the executive and he too was rude with no appology nor any compensation. In this case management and owner 100% believe that the customer is always wrong . I do not recommend this place .. other cheaper and better accommodation available... Other negatives include - no parking- phone did not work in the room (we reported it nothing was done)- we had to walk up 25 steps every time we needed something-
ps I also got threatened of legal action by management if I say anything negative about them ... how pathetic they are ...

Great view in a great location but not a great hotel
Reviewed 1 week ago

We just returned from Greece and spent 4 nights at the Iliovasilema Suites hotel. The view of the Caldera and sunset every night was very special. the hotel is nicely situated between towns and breakfast is served on your balcony. The staff at the hotel were very nice and always very accommodating. All these were pluses for sure. Our room was very tiny, and rather pricey. The WiFi worked best on the balcony and was almost non-existent in our room. There were no drawers for clothes and the chair in the room was not something you wanted to sit on forgery long. I would stay in this location again but would find a different hotel for the price.
