How to Get There
This was meant to be a lazy and relaxing holiday in a luxurious hotel (which it is sold as). We have just cut our holiday short and have flown back early from such a disappointing trip!! Unfortunately everything else was fully booked so we are demanding compensation.
This hotel is far from luxury and I really do not understand the amazing reviews. We have stayed in some wonderful hotels all over the world and this cannot compare. You only have to walk a few metres down the road to see what a proper four star looks like.
The hotel are short staffed with one man that does everything and one person on reception. Saying that, the staff are lovely and the only good thing about the hotel.
The hotel itself is tired, there is peeling paint and rust everywhere. The sun loungers are cheap with no cushions, the pool leaks, the grout is stained. The hotel “restaurant” is under a cheap rusty cover and there is no special feel about it.
They have paid no attention to detail, there is no proper coffee machine and the coffee is cold.
We paid a small fortune for the upgraded room with outdoor hot tub but we have stayed in better quality Premier Inn. The room has rust on everything, and so worn and used. The outdoor furniture is damaged and the hot tub was dirty when we went to get in. The room has cheap everything, TV, tiny wardrobe space, rough small towels. The bed is cheap and the mattress is covered with an off white mattress topper to hide the lack of quality underneath. Everything is dressed up to try and give it a luxury feel but they are so far from the mark. Like the previous review says- gold plated suites!
My partner and I work hard and this was meant to be a trip of a lifetime in a luxurious place, don’t get me wrong the view is amazing, but the hotel is a complete rip off. We understand Santorini is expensive for what it is but this hotel is not worth the price so please do not waste your money. How it made it into luxury small hotels is unbelievable (maybe 10years ago). We have stayed in a couple of small luxury four star hotels before and the difference is huge. I have added the 10 photos aloud but this is just a small number of the photos we have which show further damage.
Booked a deluxe suite directly and was disappointed straight away. Shower not working properly and hand basin would not hold water to have a shave. Furniture looked as though it had been salvaged from second hand store. Also, satellite TV a disappointment. However, fully booked so could not change, but only saw three other people. Obviously got the worst deluxe suite, so avoid room 16.
We visited here for a week to mark our first anniversary. Wonderful experience. Room was beautiful. The staff were all amazing and were very welcoming. Nothing beats having your breakfast served on your veranda overlooking the Caldera. We hope we will visit again soon.
visited gold suites for 3 days Oct 2018 fantastic place great service was upgraded to the grand suite pure luxury santorini was just at the end of the season so very quiet very relaxing maybe a little too quiet for some but cant fault the hotel service was excellent stunning views breakfast served on your balcony each morning nice restaurant Avocado a 1 min walk away did the hike to Oia took around 1hour 50mins
Santorini has been on my bucket list for a long time, so choosing the right hotel to stay in was very important! It’s safe to say that The Gold Suites did not disappoint. It was AMAZING. The beautiful hotel, the warm and friendly staff and the breathtaking views over the Caldera were everything I had dreamed of. We even got upgraded to a superior suite which was a lovely touch. Thank you to all at Gold Suites for making our holiday perfect. X
