The Review

Perched above Agios Ioannis Beach on the west coast of Mykonos, De.light Boutique Hotel is a textbook Greek island retreat. It’s small (there are just 18 whiter-than-white suites), and there are stunning views of the Aegean Sea from every angle. Located three miles from thumping Mykonos town, this laid-back hotel offers a welcome escape from the party hub’s lively bars and sceney clubs. The focus here is on shifting down a few gears and soaking up picture-perfect vistas.

The swim-up bar is manned by a mixologist who shakes up poolside cocktails. At night the water shimmers with fiber optic lights.

All of the light-flooded suites face the sea and feature private verandas on which you can tuck into a classic Greek breakfast (creamy yogurt, local honey, fresh fruit) or sip a sundowner. Bright pops of color break up the white-on-beige color scheme, and a pillow menu adds to the boutique hotel experience.

There are two restaurants on-site, both located poolside. The Pool Restaurant is a top spot for an informal lunch made with local produce, and the Authentic Restaurant serves posh dishes alongside an impressive wine list. Fill up on classic Greek dishes, but remember to save room to savor the dramatic sunsets.

Brilliant Stay

I had spent hours researching where to stay and I was not disappointed - this hotel surpasses its name!!! The views are absolutely stunning and the staff make you feel welcome from the outset. The breakfasts too are exceptional in terms of choice, quality and service. The amount of available sunbeds around the pool can be an issue but the beach is only a five minute walk away where sunloungers and parasols are freely accessible. In keeping with many hotels there was no kettle in our room but on mentioning this - a new kettle was delivered later that day!!! There is a small supermarket immediately opposite the hotel as well as a bus stop should you wish to use public transport to travel around Mykonos. Vasilikos bar-restaurant across the road from the hotel is a convenient alternative for lunch/ dinner and also recommended is 'Funky Kitchen' in Mykonos town. Still wondering whether to stay at this hotel?? Don't - just book it!!!

Amazing week at the De.Light
Reviewed 5 months ago

We have just returned from a week at the De.light Hotel Mykonos – just prior to the end of their season.

I feel lucky that Secret Escapes gave us the opportunity to truly appreciate a hotel which we would not normally be able to consider.

From the moment we walked into reception there was a WOW factor!

The unobstructed panoramic view from the hotel was perfection. I never tired of staring out to sea and to the island of Delos.

The staff were amazing – Attentive but never intrusive. We were made to feel comfortable the whole time – nothing was too much trouble.

The breakfast was outstanding. Everything was fresh and cooked to order from an A la Carte menu. Congratulations to the chef on producing “the perfect poached egg” day after day.

The bedrooms were kept spotless, with clean towels and plenty of luxury toiletries.

It should be noted that there is no direct access to the beach from the hotel. There is a fairly steep hill which could prove challenging if you have mobility issues.

Would we recommend? Most definitely!
Would we return? I do hope so!
The De.Light has become one of our favourite and most memorable hotels, and we’ve visited a few over the last 40 years!

Fantastic stay

From the moment we arrived we couldn’t have been made more welcome. Our room was very spacious with a huge balcony and hot tub and a view we would never tire of. It was kept exceptionally clean throughout our weeks stay, with delicious cookies every evening for the turn down service.

Breakfast was amazing, there was so much lovely food we didn’t need to eat again until dinner! The attitude of the staff was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. We actually only ate in the hotel on one evening but the food was delicious. Drinking st the bar was very relaxing though and staff were willing to make cocktails that were not on their menu.

Getting around the island was incredibly easy with the bus stop directly outside the hotel. We would definitely visit again.

Beautiful hotel with amazing staff

This is a very small boutique hotel where you can relax in beautiful surroundings. The staff were so friendly and took care of your every need! Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are very comfortable and well equipped which was fortunate for us, as we were unfortunately staying at the time when the ‘Medicane’ decided to hit Greece and it’s islands. We had a few hours of sun during our stay when we could enjoy the beautiful pool area. Our last day was a beautiful hot day, so we were able to visit the local beach a short walk away where there are beds for the use of the hotel.Unfortunately it is a bit of a hike back up a hill, which is not so good for oldies like us. Such a shame they don’t have direct access to the beach from the hotel.
The breakfast was amazing! Everything was fresh and cooked to your order from an a la Carte menu. The food in the restaurant was very good though a little pricey.
An excellent stay despite the weather and we would love to return.

Excellent Stay

My wife and I stayed here for 5 days and had an amazing time. The hotel itself is beautiful, it’s very clean and has an amazing view of the water. If I remember correctly there are only 20 rooms so there’s not too many people and it makes for a very quiet and relaxing stay.
Aside from the beauty the thing that really makes the hotel is the wonderful staff. Everybody was so kind and helpful and they really cared about the quality of your stay and that we were having a good time. I honestly can’t say enough good things about the staff here.
We stayed in room 25 and it had a big balcony with a hot tub and a great view of the ocean.
Food here was also great with a good selection of wine and other mixed drinks.
I highly recommend and will certainly be back.
