Overview

The Review

Apanema’s facade may embody traditional Cyclades architecture, but step inside and it’s anything but old-school. Music pours out over a poolside scene that caters to a cosmopolitan crowd of jetsetting Greeks, Brits and Americans.

The lobby’s aesthetic of bone-white walls, framed seashells and beachy lanterns is a design blueprint that extends through the 17 guestrooms and complements the customary Greek details: wooden shutters, exposed stone archways and gauzy muslin drapes. Each room has at least three windows, as well as its own balcony or terrace, which doubles as a dining area for the breakfast of Greek coffee, made-to-order eggs and fresh orange juice that’s delivered until 1 p.m. Generous by Mykonos standards, Superior and Standard Doubles are between 322 and 376 square feet. {“type”:”img-inline”,”src”:”/static/images/product/properties/1806/prop-58836-1316616530-full.jpg”,”width”:”275″,”caption”:”On a cliffside perch overlooking the Aegean, Apanema promises spectacular Cyclades’ sunsets.”}

The 15-foot walls are bare but for a seascape painting or two and the occasional inlayed etching of a Greek goddess. Black tiles and smoked glass walls enclose bathrooms filled with Molton Brown or Etro goodies; guests are offered a choice at check-in.

Despite being at capacity during my stay, the hotel never felt crowded. A handful of rooms have private entries that don’t require a trip through the lobby, and my quarters, accessed by a concealed staircase, felt more like a private villa.

But the best place to be is the two-tier sun deck, cocktail in hand, enjoying the pool and stunning views. Dotted with lounge chairs, beach umbrellas and potted hibiscus plants, it gives guests a good excuse to ignore the beach. Should you desire a chilled glass of Peloponnesian wine, a fruit smoothie, or a fresh towel, the small but gracious staff is on hand to deliver.

Best hospitality
Reviewed 3 days ago

We recently stayed 4 nights at the Apanema Resort in Mykonos. We travel extensively and I must say that from start to finish, it was one of the best lodging experiences we had! First of all, we never had to worry about carrying our luggage up or down the stairs. In addition we enjoyed the welcome drink once we arrived in our room. The room was sleek with a modern feel. yes, not really spacious but everything was clean, updated and it was comfortable. It was a bit away from town - not far, but for a short distance had to walk along a road without sidewalks, but it was nice being in a quiet environment. We dined in their restaurant two nights. The first night we had a bit of a glitch because the food took so long to come out, but we were told it was because fish takes longer. Nonetheless, the food was delicious! We ordered breakfast (from an extensive menu) each morning and it was delivered to our room so we could dine with a view of the water. The young man at the front desk (I think his name was Dimitrus) was wonderful. He helped arrange our trip to Delos and always had lots of helpful information. Hospitality was number one for them!! In addition, at checkout we received a box of soap from the island as a parting gift. I would definitely recommend this lovely boutique hotel.

Convenient Location and Congenial Staff

The easy five minute walk from the main town was perfect, as I personally prefer some space and Mykonos can feel quite crowded.
The rooms are comfortable, but feel small (or at least ours was). Still, if you're only using it to crash at night, then you shouldn't mind.
When we checked in, there was a girl at reception, and she was fine. But when we went to the desk after freshening up, Dimitris met us... and he is solely responsible for filling our holiday Mykonos with treasured memories. He gave us so much information, and was so helpful that I can't imagine what we might've done without his guidance.

Very friendly staff

They go way and beyond. Isabela is so hospitable and all the staff went above and beyond expectation. Breakfast was good and the room was a big space and next to the pool. The location is close by the heart of Little Venice and shopping places. Many restaurants within the walking distance. You can see the coast view. We really love the feeling of hospitality. To us it counts the most. We will definitely comeback to this hotel. Thank you Apanema Resort for an awesome stay.

The Best Boutique Hotel Ever!!
Reviewed 4 weeks ago

On a recent trip to the Greek Isles we were fortunate to stay at the Hotel Apanema in Mykonos. This place is to die for. With less than twenty rooms, this boutique hotel is tops on service, service and service. Plus, the views including sunsets are truly spectacular.

Isabella at the front desk is totally the best. She made arrangements for a daily car rental. Her dining recommendations were spot on. And her friendly, cheerful attitude in fulfilling any of our requests was remarkable.

Leah at the bar was equally as friendly and eager to please. She was a great mixologist and picked up immediately on all of our drink preferences.

Breakfast was ordered the night before and made to order.... no buffet line with the same old stuff every day here! The staff will bring breakfast to your room or serve poolside at your preference.

In all, a very memorable experience. Can’t wait to go back

Lovely Hotel with Great Pool and Friendly Staff
Reviewed 1 month ago

This is a very lovely boutique resort close to town with a great pool and friendly staff. The pros were a spacious room, breakfast on our balcony, a great pool area, friendly staff, and a short walk to town. The cons were that the walk to town was on a road with no sidewalks and a bit treacherous and that rooms could use a bit updated. But overall I am very happy with our stay which was relaxing and great.
