Offering an Asian vibe in the Dutch Antilles, Baoase offers a welcome alternative from the standard Caribbean resort. The owners set out to bring back barefoot elegance and they succeeded—the fine dining restaurant is right on the beach, letting guests feast on gourmet fare and French wines with their toes in the sand. Many of the villas and suites have private pools, while the simplest rooms are just as lovely, with stone bathrooms (some of them outdoor) and silk bedding. There’s no spa, but a range of wellbeing services are offered in villas and suites or right on the beach.
In the Area
Baoase’s in-house tour guide takes guests on cruises and day trips to explore the main island and Klein Curacao (Little Curacao), on countryside tours to ostrich and aloe farms, secret caves, museums and art galleries, and to the historic inner city and harbor of Willemstad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Watersports include scuba diving (there’s an instructor on-site), jet skiing, deep sea fishing, surfing, and swimming with dolphins at the Dolphin Academy. The island is also home to two scenic and challenging golf courses, Old Quarry and Blue Bay.
How to Get There
My family just spent a week at Baoase to celebrate a special occasion. We were 4 adults and 2 children and stayed in a villa with 4 bedrooms which had its own pool. Although we did not have any beach view or access from our accommodations, it was not a problem because we really enjoyed being at the resort beach. The staff is exemplary and the number of people on the staff is truly astonishing for such a small resort. Everyone knows you and seems to care about you. There are little touches like complimentary snacks on the beach late afternoon or fruit shakes mid-morning that make you feel very pampered. The snorkeling just outside the resort lagoon was fantastic, lots of beautiful fish and coral. I would also like to give a shout out to Carlos who took us on a day trip to the other side of the island. He was great! Also, my daughter and I each treated ourselves to spa treatments with Marta. We can't stop talking about how wonderful she is.
There were some electrical issues at our villa which could have had an ill effect on our stay. However, management dealt with everything as well as they could and minimized the impact that it had on our enjoyment of Baoase. I can't wait to have another "excuse" to return to Baoase.
My family and I stayed at the spectacular master villa at the Baoase resort. The villa was absolutely beautiful with its own kitchen, living room, and multiples bedrooms. We also had our own private infinity pool overlooking the beach. There was a hidden, private spot to watch the sunset. Clyfford was incredibly helpful throughout our entire stay, and truly made our experience in Curacao amazing! He was the best, whether it came from hospitality, restaurant suggestions, or island knowledge. We loved the food and the restaurant at the Baoase. Mark, the chef, prepared us incredible breakfasts and a wonderful barbecue one night. Oliver and Jesse, the managers, were wonderful and very pleasant and accommodating. We want to thank everyone at the Boaose for their diligent work and for making our vacation so amazing! We certainly plan to come back within the next few years!
Amazing hotel with really relaxing and fantastic atmosphere, service at its best, food (breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner) really really great. We have been nearly alone in the hotel during our first days and even when more people arrived it still felt as if you are alone in an oasis where you can relax and find your inner calmness again and just enjoy life!
Would recommend it to everybody who likes to relax, doesn’t wana be in a big hotel and loves the touch of luxury!
Paradise has been found! An oasis in the middle of a desert island. The best resort we have ever been to. We wanted to celebrate our 25th anniversary, yet both stressed out and didn't want the pressure of making the most of a hectic European trip. This place is perfect, so private and relaxing. Have never been so calm and rested after a vacation. Lots of space, never felt crowded. Food was incredible. The staff were so nice & friendly. Service better than a Ritz Carlton. The rooms were modern, high tech with designer fabrics, yet all so comfortable. So many unique details, from the plants and sculptures to the containers and serving dishes at every meal. After most vacations we say that was fun, we should go back to that area, but never do. We WILL return to this resort. Curacao is a beautiful island, great to explore.
Our family of five stayed for 12 nights at the beautiful resort. We experienced a great relaxing vacation. From the general manager down to all the employees everybody was so friendly, helpful, making us feel extremely comfortable. All our requests were immediately attended to. At the restaurant we enjoyed the artistically prepared and very tasteful food, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Again, all the restaurant employees were outstanding. We recommend this resort very highly.
