Barefoot Caribbean elegance with a touch of Southeast Asian style

The Lowdown

Offering an Asian vibe in the Dutch Antilles, Baoase offers a welcome alternative from the standard Caribbean resort. The owners set out to bring back barefoot elegance and they succeeded—the fine dining restaurant is right on the beach, letting guests feast on gourmet fare and French wines with their toes in the sand. Many of the villas and suites have private pools, while the simplest rooms are just as lovely, with stone bathrooms (some of them outdoor) and silk bedding. There’s no spa, but a range of wellbeing services are offered in villas and suites or right on the beach.

In the Area

Baoase’s in-house tour guide takes guests on cruises and day trips to explore the main island and Klein Curacao (Little Curacao), on countryside tours to ostrich and aloe farms, secret caves, museums and art galleries, and to the historic inner city and harbor of Willemstad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Watersports include scuba diving (there’s an instructor on-site), jet skiing, deep sea fishing, surfing, and swimming with dolphins at the Dolphin Academy. The island is also home to two scenic and challenging golf courses, Old Quarry and Blue Bay.

Amazing yet again...

They say three times is a charm, but Baoase is so charming, we have just booked our FOURTH winter vacation for this coming December. For us, Baoase is paradise found. The most casual of experiences in the most relaxing of all places we have ever been. Understated elegance, excellent service, spotless clean housekeeping, friendly, helpful and polite staff, to name just a few of the wonderful things you get at Baoase. The breakfast is outstanding and the dinners are delicious. Leave your heavy packing and troubles at home, come to Baoase and experience true relaxation in the garden spot of the Caribbean. Can't wait for December!

It is a cute little relaxing hotel. Perfect if you want just lay around and be left alone. The staff and mangers were friendly. The rooms are very modern and well maintained. Food is on a pricier side. Small portions but filling. You can see some nice fish snorkeling in the resort.

Amazing place

Discreet, bespoke, boutique honeymoon

My wife and I have just returned from our honeymoon on Curacao staying at the Baoase Luxury Resort. Oliver and Jesse, the owners, obviously care deeply about their guests and the resort. They both welcomed us and made sure that our special requests were fulfilled completely.

We stayed in one of the honeymoon suites with a private balcony and Jacuzzi. The room was spotlessly clean. We had breakfast on the beach every morning and dinner in the evening. The restaurant food is first class with lots of fresh fruit and seafood. Anything else you you think of the Chef Rene will happily produce. I definitely recommend the Seafood night and the Asia night. Our most memorable dining experience was our picnic one evening. If you want a quiet romantic meal with your loved one, then you have to have a picnic. Big cushions, rugs, moonlight, candles and divine food.

You won't need to scramble for a beach spot, lots of places to catch the sun or the shade as you wish. And you can easily get food and drink from one of the beach butlers. You can swim in the lagoon or grab some of the snorkel gear and swim just outside for some easy reef snorkelling. We also took advantage of booking a yoga session at sunset, it was very relaxing by the sea.

All the staff are friendly and helpful. They are all real people who want to make your stay the best. This isn't a corporate chain and it is all the better because of it. Baoase is discreet, bespoke and much more personal.

Thank you Baoase.

Superb Food and Customer Service

Baoase is a wonderfully romantic resort that we enjoyed as a couple to celebrate a birthday. We will always remember the fabulous time we had at Baoase.

The resort is approximately a 40 minutes taxi ride from the airport. When we arrived, we were surprised to find Baoase is located in a residential neighborhood. However, once we passed through its large wooden gate, a different world waited for us on the other side. We were very warmly greeted and escorted immediately to our room #402, the Colonial by Marchand (? spelling) who explained everything we needed to know for our stay.

The Colonial is located above the office in the front of the resort less than a three-minute walk to the beach and restaurant. The Room is lovely, well-appointed, and has all the comforts of home. Our only issue is due to its location, we were reminded by the occasional neighborhood ambience (car music, dog barking and distant traffic) that we were in an active neighborhood.

Nevertheless, the owners have gone above and beyond through the resort’s design and placement of thick fauna and flora throughout the property, to give guests the feeling of being in an intimate paradise far from civilization. The suites are discreetly positioned in private locations throughout the resort.

The open-air restaurant is superb in its setting, the service, as well as the delicious food. The breakfast buffet is incredible. The dinner experience is not to be missed.

The beach is warm, cozy and picture perfect. We would definitely return to Baoase but stay in a suite close to the beach!
