Four splendid days in Avila beach hotel: WoW!!
Reviewed 14 hours ago

We made reservations to stay in one of the rooms located on the protruting pier overlooking the laguna of the hotel. What a beautiful experience we had.
Welcome and check in on Thursday was efficiënt and the front office crew and porter/bellman showed warm hospitality. Room 288 was huge, had a great private deck with views and breezes. We loved the firm bed, the clean bathroom. Airco had a few issues but we did not used it too often. Sumptious breakfast in one of the open air restaurants. Plenty of beach chairs and shaded places. There is a great beach bar to end the day or start the evening with an ice cold Presidente or white wine.
We would like to mention Esmeralda, the sweet heart that cleaned our room with a smile. Thanks for the coffee and bathroom accessoires.
We loved staying in the Avila.

Avila gets it right!

When we last visited the Avila two years ago, we loved the hotel and location but were not so impressed with the service. This time, we were very happily surprised to see such friendly and competent staff throughout the hotel. What a difference that makes! Our room in the Belle Alliance was large, with a lovely view, and kept very clean. The breakfast buffet was fine and the service attentive (definitely not the case 2 years ago!). We had no complaints about the Schooner Bar and had a great night enjoying the live jazz in the Blues Bar. Can’t comment on the food as we always ate out at one of the many fine restaurants nearby. But I would definitely recommend hiring a car to explore the rest of the island. Well done, Avila, and looking forward to returning soon.

Just back from Avila Beach Hotel ( April 1-15), here is an honest review:

Location is good, you are a short 5 minute local bus ride from the Aquarium and Mombo Beach, both worth a visit. The hotel offers a free shuttle into Willamstaad twice a day however it is walkable ( 15 minutes) if you are a walker, but mind the heat. Everything else you will need to either rent a car or book a tour, taxis are very expensive here!! 80 US for 2 people to go 7.5km drive to Sambil mall.

The Hotel is in very good repair and kept well. The rooms are chic, comfortable and very clean.

The beach is adequate with plenty of chairs and shade options, it is however small if you are coming from larger beach islands such as DR, Cuba or Caymans etc.

Dinning is good here with 3 different options available. Note that the main dinning room The Pen is closed on Sunday evening which may be an issue for some, however there are some lovely options across the street.

I feel what sets this Hotel apart from others that we have been to is the staff. They are a fantastic group, always pleasant and very helpful. They truly raise the bar in the vacation hotel game.

If you are going to Curaçao this Hotel is a very good option

Lacks in hospitality

Good location, somewhat, beautiful property. Rooms are basic and outdated. Staff tries to be nice but untrained. I really think this is all on general manager's fault. I passed by him couple of times. Unfortunately, he just ignores the guests. Most managers at hotels will greet all the guests and try to be nice. But. Not this manager. Staff learn from their bosses. No wonder why this hotel lacks in service. Dont get me wrong. They are nice, but, has no k knowledge of hotel service. Food is subpar. Overall, nice property with inadequate staff training that starts from the top. I wont return.
