Classic Elegant living room property home Suite condominium Villa cottage flat leather

The Review

Behind a heritage-listed Italian facade, the Strozzi Palace occupies a dark stone building near a good pub and Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum — a promising hint at the mix of entertainment on offer in this Gloucestershire city. I used my private code (sent when I made my reservation) for entry into both the small, stylish foyer and my suite, where the signature Italian motif is expressed in fabrics, furniture and modern fittings: black, steel-gray and white with metal and leather details.

With just six suites, the Strozzi Palace is boutique in size and also in concept, with an emphasis on home comforts. My Napoli Suite had a working kitchen, a separate living area and a small balcony, and although it was more stylish than spacious, there was ample room to prepare light meals and work on a computer, as well as stretch out to watch the wide-screen TV. The big coffee table design books added a homey touch.{“type”:”img-inline”,”src”:”/static/images/product/properties/1802/prop-16860-1317075304-full.jpg”,”width”:”275″,”caption”:”The aesthetic is modern, with furnishings in glass and metal and a cool monochrome palette.”}

With no public areas or restaurant, the Strozzi is best for independent travelers who like to get out and explore their surroundings. From the hotel it’s an easy stroll to the center of Cheltenham, a flat, eminently walkable city. Like Bath, Cheltenham Spa was once a gathering place for ladies and gentlemen of society, and the theaters, restaurants, parks and promenade still have the gracious air of places designed for pure enjoyment. Large cream-colored stone buildings, curved streets and manicured parks give the town a distinguished and elegant air.

The famous health-giving waters, which have been used for 250 years, are still available for tasting at the Pumphouse, which is a short drive or a good walk out of town. En route you’ll pass many examples of Regency houses and public buildings, and you should stop at one of the dozens of cozy teahouses.

Hugely disappointing.. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

Very expensive treat for a friend and myself £170 ..rooms were lovely and various free food and easy card access handy. Aircon failed leaving room unbearably hot, pillows were very very cheap and uncomfortable and windy night meant Pigeon netting flapped around all night making sleep nearly impossible. Would have forgiven management had they responded quickly and politely... but got the classic 'sorry you feel that way' line and a 20% discount on my next stay. That's ok dont worry!! I eont be staying again. Appaling customer service, no real apology .. far better hotels available for less in Cheltenham..save yourself £70 for a nice meal and look at all the other £100 hotels available...and avoid this place like the plague. Would have been very easy to apologise and fix... but they would rather take the money and call me a liar. What a shame.

Poor transparency of costs

I made a booking to stay at Strozzi Palace and received 3 emails. The first to say that my credit card was declined, the second to confirm the booking, the third about car park locations.
When I booked the Palermo room, there is an i icon next to the room that explains “bookings can be cancelled 72 hours or more prior to the arrival without charge, after that the cancellation fee is the total cost of the stay. For reservations made within 72 hours of the commencement of the stay full payment is required at the time of booking”
There is nothing about any reference to any other terms and conditions. Like most other places, the rates and deposits are clearly marked against the room booking before you commit. I thought nothing of it at the time until I received the card declined email. As I booked the more expensive rate, that normally (like everywhere else) gives full flexibility. But no, I was wrong. Going further down the page there are two very ordinarily marked terms and conditions and payment terms. No-where does it mention a security deposit of 200 pounds.
As I use a debit card, this effectively locks the funds in my account. I queried this with the manager who sent me a robotic response re-iterating the terms and conditions of a security deposit and the 20% deposit.
Well, this place has good reviews but I must say that I don’t like to be taken advantage of and where pricing regimes are not clear and transparent.
To management - if a 20% deposit and security deposit are needed either put it on the icon note or at least have the icon note say “refer to payment terms and conditions” and put it into your terms and conditions on the website not in your email after the place is booked.
To this end, I am giving this place a 1 star because you have to be fully transparent and unfortunately, this place wasn’t. This is the first time I have done a review like this as I haven't stayed here and I feel very uncomfortable about it.

Mr and Mrs

Excellent, everything that you need was supplied. Staff very helpful. We only had an overnight stay but would be great for a longer stay. Everything supplied for breakfasts including yogurts and a plate of fresh fruit, cereals, milk, loaf of bread, butter and jams. Tea Coffee and hot chocolate, even a couple of sweet biscuits. Highly recommend this property.
