How to Get There
We stayed at this hotel for two nights as part of a 6-day bike tour of the region with VBT. The hotel is absolutely stunning -- a beautiful historic property with delights around every corner.
Our room was quite comfortable and spacious and the bathroom was very well appointed and had lovely toiletries, along with robes and slippers. Our WC was a little tight, especially for my husband!
We enjoyed drinks and lovely service at the hotel's bar in the lobby. The plentiful breakfast (with made-to-order fresh-squeezed OJ and even wine!) was served in a cozy little "cellar" room as well as in the lovely outdoor courtyard area.
The location, within the "rempart" walls, was well-located near all the shops and tourist attractions we were interested in. Lots of great restaurants within close walking distance as well.
If I'm lucky enough to visit Beaune again, I would stay here in a heartbeat and would recommend this lovely gem to anyone.
This hotel is in a good location in Beaune, within walking distance to many restaurants. The rooms are ornate, but not exceptionally large. Be sure to arrange pick up or drop off- it is a walk to the train station, especially in July! Fortunately the staff was able to give us a ride on one of their gators (I do not think this is the norm). Breakfast in the courtyard was great.
Very traditional hotel in a traditional setting. Clearly not much wrong with this place but it feels that the hotel could benefit from a little upgrade across the board to do justice to the grandiose proximity of the Hotel-Dieu and all the famous grand crus. Non European (wealthy) tourist will enjoy the “old France” feel (except when it comes to the rather inefficient air conditioning!)
This was my 2nd visit to Le Cep - the first time was 18 years ago and I remember it being lovely. But things change. This is a very old and charming hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. But the rooms need some improvements. The carpet was worn out and felt dirty. The bathroom was dated and awkward (even more so than most European baths). The room just felt dingy, as did the hall way and stairs. For the price I would have expected much better. I will not stay there again.
I arrived with a group and stayed with a friend in a junior suite. It had a connecting door to a room on the third floor for family use. This provided a fun architectural effect of stained stair case over part of the soaking tub! Being an old (and famous) hotel, it was not surprising to find we actually had to take two elevators to get to our room on the second floor! The staff was fabulous and helpful. The breakfast incredible and the bar on the ground floor great fun for an aperitif or digestif. Dinner at L'Oiseau des Vignes (on the premises but not owned by the hotel) was phenomenal.
