How to Get There
We had an amazing trip to Casa Chameleon. We traveled with other couples and everyone loved the hotel!
Service and Staff: Every single Casa Chameleon employee who we encountered was friendly and helpful. They all went out of their way to help us with any requests for recommendations or needs for our room. We had excellent communication with the concierge staff before we arrived and we loved to meet them once we arrived in person. Paola, Tony, Eduardo (and the one other woman at the concierge desk whose name I can’t recall..so sorry!) all made great recommendations and booked everything for us immediately.
We all loved Jose at the valet - he drove us back and forth in the golf cart to Las Catalinas, lugged our bags around, and even took us to see a family of monkeys in the trees next to the resort and helped us take photos using his binoculars. He really made our trip special! All the servers in the restaurant were great. Our whole group is going to miss Franklin the most! We kept him busy at the pool with our drink orders and he was hustling all day. He truly made it possible for us to relax and unwind while he did all the work, and he was really one of the nicest and most gracious people we met all week!
Rooms: Rooms are beautifully decorated. Gorgeous views of the ocean from the pool deck. We stayed in room 22 which appeared to be the lowest room on the sunset side of the hotel. 95 steps Down and 95 back up. We are in pretty good shape and these stairs were tough. Be sure to discuss room options with them if you have any physical limitations as many are accessible by only stairs.
Restaurant: Food and drinks were great. Scenery was perfect.
Bottom line is Just Book It! Ask for the excursion and local restaurant recs when you get there. We did the surfing lesson with Mojo Surf and the sunset sailing with Serendipity- both booked through the concierge and both were priced well and highlights of our week. Highly recommend this hotel and hope to go back soon!
From the moment I started to explore destinations in Costa Rica, Casa Chameleon at Las Catalinas stood out.
The positive experience that started with reservations, continued through concierge service, room service, restaurant and bar experience, even the valet! This is truely a group of people that want to make the time you spend with them special. AND the property is perfectly secluded, beautiful and well maintained.
There were too many special, individual memories to share, but this is one example of our experience. My husband loves to play guitar, it is one of his most effective ways to relax. Traveling with a guitar is not relaxing. Before we began our trip, the concierge staff reach out to ask if there was anything they could do to make our trip more pleasant. We responded with a request for help in locating an inexpensive instrument for him to use while we were in CR. We knew that this was a big ask, but what do you know, they made it happen!!
I have to stop myself from trying to describe all the special moments of our visit and I never left the property!
Would go again in a heartbeat!!
This is a beautiful location with beautiful private villas. The room we had was one with an ocean view and private plunge pool. We had a fantastic relaxing time in this dream-like locale. The food at the hotel was very good, the room was spacious and tastefully appointed and the staff...what can I say - friendly, helpful, discrete, there quickly when you needed them, otherwise non obtrusive. A very special shout out to concierge Eduardo - I'm a guitar enthusiast but didn't want to bring my own instrument on the plane with me. Eduardo helped me find a music store in Liberia, select an instrument using photos shared by the store, arranged to purchase the guitar and had it at reception ready for me to play and travel with on the rest of my trip - all within 24 hours. This was clearly above and beyond the call of duty but typical of the "can-do" attitude of the staff and Casa Chameleon. I will never forget this service - thank you Eduardo!
This was amazing place.
I travel a lot and have very high standards for places to stay.
This place went beyond my expectations: service was amazing, food was great, peppery very unique.
Best sunset view from the room
Highly recommend this place for romantic getaway
We stayed here March 15-21 and were not disappointed. We have never been to Costa Rica before and we’re blown away not only by this hotel and staff but the people and culture every where. It is an extremely safe county.
Upon our Arrival we were greeted by the transfer ( can’t remember his name) very programs welcoming along with house made granola bars and snacks and waters. Perfect for after a long flight.
We arrived and were blown away by the views, the decor and the staff. Tony was excellent in arranging our excursions and taxis as well as recommendations. The room was amazing every one has a beautiful view as well as plunge pool. We didnt want to leave our room , it was so private and clean.
Franklin Seville and jublo ( sorry if I misspelled) Were amazing at taking care of us in the restaurant and poolside. Franklin was on top of our every need making sure we always had food, drink ,clean towels and sunscreen. There is always iced water by the pool. everywhere we went it was spotless, bathrooms by the pool were so clean at all times.
At night the turn down service again impressed me. They leave you a pot of tea and a local sweet snack for bedtime. They really pay attention to detail and think of everything .
This resort is definitely a r& r place. If you want more activity at night I’d recommend going to Tamarindo(30 min ride 125$ round trip 2 people ) for dinner and night life after. However we opted to enjoy the spectacular sunset every night right from our villa , hotel pool or bar, with unobstructed and breathtaking sunsets. The bar and restaurant are fabulous also. It has an adorable loungey area in the bar with comfortable couches and a very Moroccan atmosphere. They also have a traditional gong sunset ceremony. Very special. We ate here almost every meal and the cocktails were great ,noting too sweet, but could have been a little stronger. There’s is also a little up and coming town down the hill that has a store , but is very expensive. The restaurant there on the beach was ok but casa chameleons was better. I’d stop before you get to the hotel if you need anything. I can not say enough positive about our visit to casa chameleon. The only negative is there is no break from the sun from around 2-6 pm . There are no umbrellas by the pool( bc it can be quite windy at times) and the cabanas need a little lip or awning to give just a little shade. Same with the villa deck.
We can not wait to return!
