Fantastic place
Reviewed 2 months ago

We stayed in Asclepios at 2 different occasions at the beginning of October. Place is an absolute gem! Wonderfully decorated, huge rooms, with a fantastic and beautiful view over the mountains and Coffee estate.
Staff is extremely efficient, friendly, helpful and they will do everything possible to make your stay even nicer.
Restaurant serves good food and great wine.

Good for 1-2 Nights

My friend and I stayed with Asclepios for one night and felt that it was sufficient enough for our experience. The rooms were extremely spacious and the rounds were beautiful but specific wellness retreat qualities were lacking. The retreat was very quiet and peaceful and only two other couples were staying during the time of our stay,

Unfortunately there are no programs or schedule for wellness during the day (yoga etc) and anything of this kind comes at an additional cost and must be booked at least a day in advance. It was disappointing to think we would be able to have access to many of the amenities on the grounds like the steam room outside but again - additional cost and must be booked. The pool was quite cold so we could not swim reardless of the heat.

The dinner was well prepared but breakfast was a huge disappointment. Some small pieces of fruit, granola, and a piece of very dry handmade toast. You cannot order eggs etc so we ended up checking out extremely hungry.

Again beautiful ambiance if you are looking to get away to experience the quieter side of costa rica, but you may be able to get more value somewhere closer to the city.

A hidden gem in the heart of Costa Rica that more people should know about

I have very recently stayed here (August 2018) for three nights and must say I really enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed my 3.5-week stay in beautiful Costa Rica.
My room was spacious and clean, called 'Indra', had a nice bathroom and a breathtaking view - garden, volcano and coffee plantation - amazing. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food here is exquisite and made with love - delicious, fresh and full of flavour. I love the fact that the staff handpicks the herbs in the hotel's gardens. This is a very private and personal place where both singles and couples are treated very adequately. There are 12 unique rooms. I came here to relax and 'find myself', which is exactly what this place is for. The only place you can use wifi is on the guest terrace opposite the beautiful pool, which I find a very good idea. The spa is a very peaceful place and I enjoyed my facial as well as the relaxing massage I was given before leaving for the airport. I can only highly recommend this place and I do think it is worth every dollar/colon! Cannot wait to be back. Gracias por todo!

Relax break but...

Relax environment put you away from TV, Internet, music, etc
Asclepios massage is good: about one hour with good products and performance.
Small place means no crowds, no wait line and staff recognize you all the time
WiFi available on the social area.

Well...where to start. Imagine you are running a small hotel with limited budget. Is a good idea but poor execution: staff is always in a struggle about the food, bathrooms, pool temperature, gym, massage schedule, etc.
We had to order our food 90 min in advance to make sure it was available. It was good but overpriced.

This is an option ONLY if you book using a promotion available on their Facebook or Yuplon. Plan for one night since there is nothing to do other than relax and a massage.

So overpriced it's unbelievable

We paid £700 for 3 nights here, and a massage each. It genuinely feels like we've been scammed.

I'll start with the positives: the rooms are very spacious and the views are amazing.

Now for the negatives: the staff is polite but incredible stretched/clueless, the breakfast is a joke, the service is slow, the pools are freezing and therefore unusable, half the machines in the gym are broken, the whole place is slightly worn out (the shower knob just fell off one day, the bath was stained..), the massage was incredibly disappointing. It also took 2 tries and 2 completely rescheduled days to get the massage booked in properly.

Save your money and your sanity, and stay down the road at the Villa San Ignacio - staff, food and drinks are way more appealing and wallet friendly than here.
