How to Get There
We had a director's dinner here a party of 18 and the service was not great, we expected that we would all be able to sit at one table and they put us at two tables (Definitely not what we wanted) the service was slow it took extremely long for the waitress to bring water to the table and the wait for the food was even longer. One table was served before the other so that meant that some of our guest were ready to leave before we had even finish dinner. At no time did anyone come around and ask if we were okay or satisfied.
My family and I have been visiting the Fairmont for many years but sadly have had to stop since the prices have been hiked up - unjustifiably in our opinion. Yes, the bedrooms have been refurbished but that is it. The bathrooms have not and although the manager states in a previous review that the bathrooms were in ‘excellent condition’, unfortunately they look very dated especially now compared to the new bedrooms. On our last visit we spoke to a manager about the price hikes and he said they weren’t going to drop as the hotel is now hoping to compete with the likes of Sandy Lane. No chance! It would need a major overhaul for that to happen. Not just some cosmetic changes.
We would love to return but sadly it looks like the Fairmont is pricing itself out of its appropriate market and alienating its loyal customer base.
Came with 3 friends for leisure weekend. We had a great time, the rooms were impeccable. We were impressed by the food and customer service. We also greatly enjoy the water sports. Will be recommending to friends and family
We stayed at The Fairmont two years ago and thought that it was close to perfection but were not quite so impressed on our second visit. The hotel has recently renovated its rooms and they are, if anything, more impressive than before. However, the top (third) floor is now designated as 'Signature' rooms that feature a butler service and a few other benefits. As we had booked long before the introduction of this new class of room the hotel were kind enough to honour our request for a top floor room - one thing that has not altered at the Fairmont is their highest standard customer service. However, while we appreciated this gesture, we did not feel that butler service etc was enough to justify the substantial increase on the price normally charged for identical rooms on the second floor.
Breakfast is now served in the Palm Restaurant, which we felt was an improvement on the smaller Taboras restaurant, and featured a good variety of hot and cold dishes plus an egg station that, although busy, was never overrun. One hick-up occurred on the Sunday we were there when there were a couple of large parties from outside for breakfast. Their long tables were made up of individual tables usually available for residents, which led to a shortage of tables and queues to be seated. by residents. This was a one-off while we were there but should not have happened in a hotel of this standard.
Food at the Taboras restaurant was overpriced for the quality - we had lunch once and that was OK but no more but the evening Texas BBQ was greatly over priced and not very good. In fact, the best meal we had at the Fairmont was room service - dining on our spacious balcony was a delight.
The hotel is in a wonderful position and the service is friendly and quietly efficient but we get the impression that everything is now geared for greater profit (29 BDS, almost £12, for two beers!). Barbados has always been expensive but with increasing prices and taxes the island could be pricing itself out of price range of many of its regular guests. Additionally, there were some children staying during our stay and one of the reasons we had previously booked was because it was an adult only hotel at certain times. We will not return if it is going to be open to children.
I just stayed over a weekend to celebrate my birthday recently- the service was phenomenal! The rooms were big, exceptionally clean, and well decorated! Location was absolutely perfect. We were very happy and were made to feel like the most important guests all the time. Not to mention, the food they provided there was beyond our expectations! Thanks for a great birthday!! My boyfriend and I will return again. :)
