Warm Winter at the Beach
Reviewed 7 days ago

The small cabin did not appear a cosy place for a winter stay other than the small size of the room. The quite stark modern styling while very attractive was more appropriate for summer beach accomodation. However an efficient heat pump and underfloor heating in the bathroom kept us very warm. It took a while to find the bedding for the sofa bed. There was not a table inside but we brought in from the deck the small round one and the chairs. Once we were set up it was lovely and the environment set in the trees was wonderful. Because of this we were prepared to overlook that their was no parking alongside the cabin and that there was an outside walk to reception and the restaurant where we had an excellent meal.

High quality getaway in prime location

Had a fantastic time here during our stay. The accommodation was comfortable, quiet and private. The amenities within our suite accomodation fantastic too - we had an upgrade, and we enjoyed the space and the luxury of the suite. Underfloor heating and a large bath, sky TV and our own balcony. All was very much appreciated and enjoyed. The fact that it was so private and cosy made our stay feel like a proper escape from reality.

We found the service of a very high quality. Everyone was friendly, amiable and professional - even had a DVD player problem sorted straight away - and were personally noted of the fix. The hotel also provided a range of activities to do within the grounds - tennis, swimming, spa pool and gym.

Treetop delight

We’ve just been for a 3 day break on a Grab One deal which included breakfast. We are also Accor Plus members and so received other benefits. This is a quality place to stay and the Tawa treetop chalet we stayed in had high quality presentation, warm bathroom floor heating and a heat pump which meant we kept nice and cosy. Special appreciation to Peter the chef who went through the Monday evening Moroccan Night buffet with me as I have food sensitivities which can be debilitating. The buffet was tasty and very generous as was the breakfast and evening menu. Because it was good we ate in especially as most eating places locally are closed Monday and Tuesday in Winter. We enjoyed the spa and sauna. Another valuable staff member is Chanel who runs the morning restaurant like clockwork. Yes, I’m sure we are very likely to return as it’s ideal for couples enjoying a quiet retreat. The treetop photo is from our deck showing a glimpse of the sea. As others have mentioned the chalets are set in the hillside and are often a steep walk, we are 68 & 71 and accepted it as a challenge to help burn off the extra calories!
