Perched on a rugged promontory where waves lash the shores, this grand Victorian hotel and cottages provide the perfect base for exploring some of both Cornwall and England’s finest coastline, or simply staring out to sea in quiet contemplation.
The Headland overlooks the postcard-perfect Fistral Beach in Newquay. Winner of two prestigious Gold Awards at the Cornwall Tourism Awards and Gold and Silver accolades at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards, this family-run hotel dominates the coastline and the original building featured in the memorable film adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Witches.
It boasts spectacular views and impressive leisure facilities. There are both indoor and outdoor pools, and the spa – Cornwall’s first Five Bubble awarded – gives The Headland a contemporary feel. The Cornish salt steam room is a lovely local twist alongside the Swedish sauna, hot tub and aromatherapy showers. The hotel scored a well-deserved TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.
Allowing you freedom and flexibility, the five-star Headland cottages are built in a charming Cornish village style. If you opt for a cottage stay, you will still have access to all the hotel’s facilities and you can mix self-catering with meals in the restaurant.
How to Get There
We stayed during the second week of November and were very lucky to have beautiful sunny weather all week. We enjoyed long walks with our dog and were happy to return to the hotel and rest our aching feet at the spa/steam room/ pool in the evening. Looking forward to the opening of the new complex.
To those who find the cost for a dog excessive please note that we arrived to find the cleanest most fresh smelling cottage and this continued throughout the stay following the daily service.
Staff as always were very pleasant in all parts of the hotel and genuinely welcome dogs. This place is not merely dog tolerant it is very dog friendly.
Have booked for last week of March
Awful hotel, can’t believe they charged £50 for two small dogs to stay at the hotel per night. Atlantic hotel near by are far more reasonable only charging £20 for the night for both dogs!
Rude on reception and incredibly unhelpful. Not dog friendly at all. Far better hotels in Newquay to go to do that are dog friendly.
Where the staff and service was second to none! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Spa was fantastic. The breakfast was as good as any we've had. Real leaf tea too - always much appreciated! Very relaxed vibe and we noticed that dogs and children were made welcome too. We'll be back for an indulgent weekend soon.
Loved staying here,so friendly and welcoming.A great atmosphere and location is beautiful.Staff are the best and nothing is too much trouble.Would recommend to everyone. You will love it here. Will be coming back soon
I cannot sing the praises of The Headland Hotel enough. Its a truly grand and spectacular hotel. Staff are all amazing. Very polite and helpful and always willing to go the extra mile. Special mention to Paul on reception and Molly our waitress. Both were fantastic.
Hotel itself is grand. Room was immaculate. All the mod cons in an elegant setting. Bed was so comfortable.
Restaurant is worth a booking a table for. The food was lovely. Cooked to perfection.
