Perched on a rugged promontory where waves lash the shores, this grand Victorian hotel and cottages provide the perfect base for exploring some of both Cornwall and England’s finest coastline, or simply staring out to sea in quiet contemplation.
The Headland overlooks the postcard-perfect Fistral Beach in Newquay. Winner of two prestigious Gold Awards at the Cornwall Tourism Awards and Gold and Silver accolades at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards, this family-run hotel dominates the coastline and the original building featured in the memorable film adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Witches.
It boasts spectacular views and impressive leisure facilities. There are both indoor and outdoor pools, and the spa – Cornwall’s first Five Bubble awarded – gives The Headland a contemporary feel. The Cornish salt steam room is a lovely local twist alongside the Swedish sauna, hot tub and aromatherapy showers. The hotel scored a well-deserved TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.
Allowing you freedom and flexibility, the five-star Headland cottages are built in a charming Cornish village style. If you opt for a cottage stay, you will still have access to all the hotel’s facilities and you can mix self-catering with meals in the restaurant.
How to Get There

This was a fifth visit to the Headland Hotel and it was just as special as our first visit.
Our dogs who were first through the door were welcomed by the reception and front of house teams with lots of fuss and this didn't stop throughout our stay.
We stayed in our usual cottage which was as immaculate as always, even though work on the new aqua centre is still ongoing we didn't hear any building noise.
The beaches at Fistral, Crantock and Perranporth are excellent with miles of clean sand and sea for our fur babies to run around, play and to make new friends.
Whilst we didn't have a meal at the hotel this time, we did enjoy their fabulous afternoon tea, it's best to book to avoid disappointment, even our dogs had a plate of dog treats to enjoy whilst we savoured the freshly homemade sandwiches and cakes.
Can't wait to book for next year.
Just like to give a special mention to the gentleman who was putting the pitch and putt flags in today he noticed the wife was strugging walking up the path and he offered her lift in his buggy to the front entrance of the hotel. We are thinking of booking a few days next year to stay at the headland and this member of staff has given us a great impression of customer service and will be looking to make booking
