The Beach at Bude offers a stylish stay, overlooking the sands of Summerleaze Beach, which is recommended by the Marine Conservation Society’s Good Beach Guide for its excellent water quality, and heralds its own salt-water swimming pool, set into the rocks. The hotel itself gains ample kudos as part of the Smith Collection, whilst appearing in The Good Hotel Guide, The Michelin Guide and The Sawdays Collection. Kick back with a Cornish cocktail before a refined dinner of seasonal British cuisine in the hotel’s stylish restaurant.
How to Get There
At the entrance to the hotel from the carpark there is a sign declaring that this hotel breaks the mould of British seaside hotels. And thank heaven it does! Wary of crummy British hotels with creaking stairs, dim rooms with rubbish beds, and dark old furniture where the wardrobe creaks open and prods you from behind, this hotel is very removed from this. Totally renovated, modern and light rooms, this hotel buzzes with Mediterranean style. Room seven especially has an enormous deck, a great view, and is as nice a room as you will find anywhere. Queen size bed, a fridge, no tub but a walk in shower. If the other rooms are half as good as this one you will still be comfortable. The restaurant is easily the best in Bude. Good value for the quality, and the wine list has something for everyone at great prices.
Totally booked out in the high season and deservedly so, yet the prices are reasonable especially for half board.
A family run hotel and a tribute to them. Lovely staff.
There is some parking, 7? spaces for the sixteen rooms but free parking right outside on the road. We had no trouble finding parking which is always a challenge in Cornwall.
Terrific stay. One of the best hotels in Cornwall without any doubt.
I would recommend the rooms overlooking the harbour /beach.
Extremely good food, well presented ,great flavours and above all served by staff that care.
If weather permits drinks on the terrace at sunset .
Would happily return for another short break.
Great position overlooking the bay/beach and very helpful/friendly staff. We had a lovely room with balcony with great views. Downside was that it was immediately over the busy and noisy bar terrace and as there was no a/c in the room if you closed the patio doors to close out the noise the room became really hot.
But great location and we would probably go back - just not to this room!
We’ve stayed here three years running and recommend it. The rooms are large and comfortable, the bar and restaurant are hard to beat in Bude and the staff are lovely. The hotel is ideally located for the beach and has great views.
Excellent dinner using the private dining room for a happy group. Great service, great food and a really good atmosphere. Lovely bar and design, well thought out areas which all worked. Thank you for our best night here in Bude
