Copper Beach Inn
Ivoryton, Conn.

The Cooper Beach Inn is perhaps one of my most favored places in Ct. This magnificent B & B also features a fabulous restaurant. This is no Johnny come lately. I have been dining here since the 70’s when it was operated by the McKenzie’s. The Copper Beach has been reviewed by Zagat’s, Frommer’s and a multitude of food critics and it always comes up a winner. You can choose to have a light fare in the Oak room or indulge in a formal dinner in the main dining room. I have had the pleasure of both and whichever you prefer you will not be disappointed. Dinner choice favorites were Smoked Salmon or Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes for appetizers and Pan Seared Diver Scallops or Branzino Provencal for an entrée. Great location near Essex.

Charming Inn

Two of us stayed one night in October and enjoyed our visit. Our room was clean and comfortable. We had the free breakfast and two meals in the dining room and liked all our meals. The staff was very helpful and cheerful. We loved our visit to The Copper Beech inn and would stay there again if we were in Ivoryton.

Lovely Inn

The Copper Beech Inn is a lovely Inn. The staff is very friendly and attentive. This is our second event in the last few years at the Copper Beech Inn. This year we had a large party in the formal dining room and we enjoyed a wonderful meal with terrific service. Claudia, the innkeeper, was thorough and helpful throughout the process. I had quite a few last minute details which they handled perfectly. So happy with our event and accommodations! We booked several rooms and all the guests were comfortable and enjoyed their stay. The breakfasts each morning were also delightful! I would recommend this Inn as a great place to stay and have an event.

$276.00 Room With No Heat !!!!!

First off the place looks nothing like the picture you see. It is badly in need of repair and upgrading. The grounds are overrun with shrubs and trees that need trimming. When entering our room there was a musty smell like it had been closed for a long time. We opened the door to the deck and the window and turned on the fan unit to clear the air. After about 1/2 hour the smell was gone. The furniture is old, tatty and in some cases falling apart. The large cabinet that held the television had the veneer on one door missing and had a huge crack in it. After we returned in the evening it was starting to get a little chilly so we turned on the air conditioner/heater unit and no matter what we did no heat came out. What did come out was a little warmer than the room temp. so we left it on. I would guess the room temp. was about the mid 60s. Comfortable for sleeping, but not comfortable when getting out of the shower. At breakfast the next morning in the main house, there was no heat either. I was sitting next to the baseboard and it was stone cold. They must have turned all the heat off to save a few bucks until it really gets cold. I am not a snob, but for $276.00 I expect to be comfortable. The only pluses for this dump were a newly renovated bathroom that was very nice aand the breakfast which was good. Would I ever stay here again? Not at gunpoint. I do not recommend it to anyone else either.

Poorly run

I stayed here for my wedding. We were getting ready here the day of and supposed to have an after party with fire pit and s’mores. Claudia, the “event coordinator” called me at 5pm during my rehearsal to discuss the details which was highly inappropriate. I had previously asked her via email multiple times what was going on with the after party. I would never do an event here ever again. She was so unprofessional and disorganized. It’s unfortunate because the food and rooms were delicious and gorgeous.
