How to Get There
I stay here often and service is always very good. Room is set up well with desk and lots of USB chargers by the nightstand. L-Bar in the lobby has good drinks, food and a great vibe. Room service is quick and convenient plus some good restaurants within walking distance.
Second time I’m staying here, and enjoyed coming back. The Marriott is located dead center downtown, walking-distance close to all the big office towers of Hartford. The hotel was booked out when I arrived (a convention going on in the next-door convention center) but the people at the front desk are so professional and friendly, they make you feel like you’re the only guest that matters to them.
I had a room up on the 14th floor, nice view over the river and (bit of luck) the beautiful landscape in the distance. Spotless clean, well maintained facilities. Beautiful pool where you just love hanging out and relaxing. But ultimately, it’s the hotel’s people that matter most, and their staff is top notch. Highly recommend!
This hotel in downtown Hartford is attached to the Convention Center, and is really the best choice for those attending meetings there. Rooms are clean and warm, although water pressure is limited...(why are so many hotels severely restricting water flow from shower heads? Not at all necessary in water-abundant Northeast)...TVs are klarge and modern, good picture. Staff is warm, friendly and helpful...
Stayed there two nights while attending an event at the convention center. Some friends stayed at other close hotels and complained of noise and activity. We had no complaints like that. It was great. The staff was accommodating. It was clean. The extra “ roll out “ was just a blow up mattress - Not very comfortable - but whatever - the next night they got us two beds.
This was my first stay at this property and the end of a trip just before the Thanksgiving holiday. The hotel had less then 60 guests on property due to the holiday, but from the moment I checked in through my entire stay you would have never known based on the attitude and level of service this staff provided. I want to particularly recognize April, bartender in the L Bar and one of the managers, Ana D. As I said there were few guests on property and because of a short staffed situation April had been there for two shifts at the L Bar. Whats amazing is that I had lunch at L Bar, and then returned around 9:30 for a snack and drink and Aprils attitude was unbelievably upbeat and positive throughout. Although she saw very little business which means she made very little money in gratuity for the day, she continued to serve with a smile and have great conversation. Just before making last call after a very long day, a group of 5-8 business travelers abruptly came to the bar and started ordering drinks. April could have easily been upset and discouraged as it was a moment of "are you kidding me, Ive been here alone all day". Instead April smiled, and said gentlemen what I may get for you. At this time another group of travelers came in and now she had the customers she waited for throughout the day, but ironically it was 5 minutes before she was to be going home for the evening. At that time her manager, Ana arrived and also greeted all the guests with a smile and said we will be happy to serve each of you. Their dedication to the customer and way they served in a guest first attitude was truly remarkable considering all the factors of the day. I stay at a lot of Marriotts around the country and although you expect this type of service it is not often the standard. April and Ana should be recognized for their efforts to maximize the guest experience regardless of the circumstances. I look forward to my return to Hartford as I know with employees like this, it will make traveling a little more comfortable and enjoyable. Great job ladies!
