How to Get There
Quaint and accommodating, staff was great. Didnt charge for having a rent a car and made sure I was comfortable and happy. Awesome experience, great hot tub and pool area and breakfast was really nicely setup.
This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in, although this time we were in one of the 3 bedroom condos for a family vacation in Vail. The staff is outstanding, totally on call and helpful in every way. Breakfast is done in a fashion suitable for American, international and child cuisine. The hotel is so convenient so that you can park your car and never have to use it until departure unless you want to sight see in the area.
This was my first visit to Austria Haus. About a week prior to arrival, I received a call from the hotel concierge to introduce herself and she offered to make dinner reservations, spa appointments, etc. She also offered the use of the hotel’s parking garage on my day of arrival, since I was skiing prior to check in time, and said that when I arrived, if the room was ready, I could check in immediately. This worked out perfectly, and I was upgraded at no charge. The room was spacious, with 2 dbl beds, perfect for myself and daughter. There was a fridge, fireplace, large bathroom, with heated floors, also new large flat screen tv with Directv, and a remote that actually worked and was easy to use! Beds were comfy, room was quiet. Breakfast was toast, bagels, jams, waffles, yogurt, coffee, oatmeal, and on one day, made to order omelets - all of this was more than adequate. There was an inviting pool and hot tub, we did not use. The staff was genuinely friendly and helpful, something that is rare these days. There is no bar, and no restaurant - this didnt matter since the hotel is located within a few minutes walk of everything in Vail Village. It took us about 3 minutes to walk to the slopes. An added surprise was free ski check at the bottom of the mountain, so we did not have to lug them to/from hotel! I would stay here again, without question.
My Husband and I have been coming here for the last 11-12 years. The Boutique Hotel is so quaint and boasts a Bavarian look. Many amenities including a fabulous breakfast each morning, skis are kept at the gondola for your convenience to go right up the mountain. Very friendly staff and Manager, Tellico, always trying to be there for their guests, helping in every way they can to have their guests have the most enjoyable vacation.
Convenient to the gondola, shopping, great great restaurants, free local bus, ice skating, etc.
Everything from the staff to the rooms to the breakfast was fantastic! We may have gotten lucky due to early season pricing, but I was pleasantly surprised by how great Austria Haus was for what we paid considering how expensive everything is in Vail; our stay was much more luxurious than I expected. The folks we talked to in town also agreed that Austria Haus is a good choice, which is nice to hear. We would definitely stay here again.
FYI, the website does not make this clear, but there is a very nice hot tub and heated pool on the patio. It is free for guests, and not related to the spa package they advertise on the website. We didn't bring swimsuits and had to buy them in town, so remember to bring a swimsuit!
