How to Get There
We arrived after a long car trip and received the warmest welcome from the hotel - especially the valet/bellman/everything Marc-o. The hotel was charming and in a great location. We used the complimentarily bikes for the short ride just a few blocks to the main part of town for dinner, and again the next morning to breakfast and the gondola. my kids loved it! Our room was great and the beds were amazingly comfortable. I loved the coffee and papers and comfortable seats in the lobby area in the morning while my family slept in. Great stay!
Our family enjoyed our 2 nights. We took advantage of the bikes to ride and explore downtown. Hotel is very conveniently located in walking distance of the free gondolas. The lobby was inviting with tea, coffee, and cold water (flavored) and warm cookies in the afternoon. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the area which was great fir our first time visit. Rooms were nice sized with private balcony and nicely appointed.
We only spent 1 night but the hotel was very nice and descent views.
Service was great and they always had refreshement and cookies out in the lobby.
Rates were descent considering time of the year we were there,
They had underground parking with no extra charge.
I loved everything about this town and this hotel! My husband and I were so excited when we pulled into town and saw that our hotel was just a few blocks from the historic downtown! We arrived right when a big group came, but we were greeted in the lobby by Molly. She noticed we weren’t a part of the group, and she chatted with us about all the things there were to do, all the amenities the hotel offers, and kept us entertained while the group settled in. She even walked us to the desk and gave a cookie to my son.
My only complaint is how much time my husband spent in the hot tubs! :) They have a window to the bar, so we were able to get drinks (and juice) without having to walk around the lobby in our swimsuits.
We didn’t use the shuttle, cause we wanted to walk about the town and burn off some of my sons energy, but we always felt welcome to do so!
One of my favorite parts was the small town friendliness.
Christy, introduced us to my most favorite EVER taco shop in the downtown area, and she had great tips for things to do with when traveling with a small child. She suggested the library, which was amazing and entertained my son for hours... she also knew of a candy store at the top of the gondola, and for a four year old, that’s just like icing on a cake!
I can’t wait to come back!
I recently visited the Hotel Telluride and am a bit speechless. This is my first review ever and I hope it can help others plan their stay when they visit the beautiful city of Telluride. Our trip began a bit stressful as our flight was canceled. I called The Hotel Telluride to let them know we would miss our first night and asked if we would be responsible for payment as the canceled flight was unforeseen. They told me over the phone that it was highly likely we would have to pay, but to ask a manager when we checked in the next day. Needless to say, we had to book a second hotel that night on top of the one at The Hotel Telluride. The next day we were greeted by an extremely unfriendly staff member who said we were responsible for payment (regardless of our circumstances) and told us "too bad, there was nothing we can do." We asked to speak to a manager and Kristie came out and rudely said the canceled flight wasn't "her fault" and "we didn't call soon enough" so we were out the $400. She was very unapologetic and dismissive. Obviously, there was no way for us to know our flight would be canceled let alone call the hotel in a timely fashion. We then decided to let it go and went to our very small and dated room. DO NOT be fooled by the pictures and description of this hotel as "mountain chic." The rooms are tiny and in need of a major renovation. There is no spa and the restaurant is an annex off the lobby. The description of the hotel says they are an upscale property, but there is nothing upscale about this hotel. The next day we asked to see Kristie again to see if she could at least comp our parking. (it's $20/day). Again, her manner was rude and dismissive but she agreed. Upon checkout, there were no notes that she agreed to comp our parking and India, an employee told us we needed to pay. At this point I just flat out refused and India proceeded to say that Kristie had called her before checkout and specifically told her that she was not allowed to credit us for anything. My friend and I thought it strange that a manager would go out of her way to call before a customers checkout to make sure that we, paying patrons received no reimbursement or credits. We already had been told this 4 days before and just wanted our parking comped. It didn't feel very professional or comforting to know that a manager would call the front desk employee to make sure she DIDN'T give us any perks or positive customer service. We were already (rudely) made completely aware of this. India finally called Kristie and agreed to comp the parking. I travel all over the world and have never met an entire hotel staff so rude and unaccommodating. They have no idea what customer service or hospitality is and I wish I had the opportunity to see the reviews that were left before this one. I couldn't agree more that this hotel staff and management need to learn a thing or two on how to treat people in general. They are in the service industry. The negativity and attitude they showed us was horrible and made us feel like we were an imposition. I would be remiss however if I didn't acknowledge Dave O who was a bellman. He was wonderful and the antithesis of everyone else at this property. He was very friendly and helpful. Kristie and India, in particular, were extremely rude and seemed put out anytime a question or comment was asked of them. I hope that they learn in the future that they are in a profession where kindness goes a long way. I will NEVER return to this property and if any of you decide to come regardless of the recent reviews, just know that your needs will be met with no smiles, kindness or hospitality.
