Great Inn!

The attentive staff, the cleanness of the Inn and the closeness to the skiing was spectacular! It was my first time skiing in CO and it was so much fun. The Inn was very knowledgeable concerning all the restaurants and events that were taking place in the Village. Thank you THE INN for making my trip so enjoyable.

Our favorite hotel has been "found!"

We have stayed at TIALC for several years, usually in the autumn for the leaves. It is a gem of a hotel that has been "discovered" and recently ranked #14 of hotels in CO by Conde Nast Traveler. We wish it were still hidden and off the beaten track! It is a cozy boutique hotel that is perfectly situated in Mountain Village just steps from the gondola. A few years ago, it was bought by Telluride Ski and Golf (who seems to have bought up just about all of MV at this point) and, despite a quick blip in service due to almost 100% sudden staff and mgmt turnover, it has recovered nicely and is at a very high standard of service.

The rooms are cozy with very comfortable beds and linens (towels and sheets). All rooms have some sort of kitchen facility ("ette" to "full), which is incredibly helpful. Be careful of the small "dorm size" refrigerators as ours froze all the glass bottles of water solid and they all broke with water spilling everywhere. The staff was quick to respond to our notification about the frig. The larger rooms are well worth the extra money, with much more spacious accommodation and not a sense of cluttered furniture. Not all rooms are configured the same way - some have large bathrooms and moderate sized bedrooms & living space; and others have bathrooms so small that the tolerance to get past one another and to close the door to the water closet is incredibly tight. Most bathrooms lack adequate shower racks or even hooks on which to hang a clean towel within reach from the shower or to hang a wet towel to dry, although there is a rack next to the tub that's hard to reach. Lighting has improved in the years that we've stayed there. One feature that seems to be possibly on hold is that every room has a small washer and dryer, which is lifesaving. However, for the past several years, the washer and dryer in almost every room in which we've stayed has had a sign "out of order" posted on it. No one mentions that when you check in and so we advise asking when you make a reserveration if this is an important needed feature. Housekeeping supplies complimentary water daily and the bathroom offers a supply of personal items like toothpaste as well as lotion, etc. Chapstick and sunscreen are usually in a bowl at the front desk that is complimentary along with ice water. The hotel frequently has a turndown service with a small chocolate.

The hotel has an arrangement with the Peaks (a Westin) across the street so guests can use their very well equipped gym and pool, which is a very important feature we use and appreciate.

There is a complimentary breakfast buffet in the Thai restaurant. The highlight is long time staff member Jen. Jen is incredibly polite and professional, managing the buffet and seating guests. Jen remembers us each time we stay there. This year, when she learned that the next day was my husband's birthday, she asked what he likes a lot. The next day, everyone knew it was and wished him a happy birthday, and Jen had asked the chef to make crepes with chocolate sauce in little cups and whipped cream available. Jen put a special small cup of raspberry sauce at my husband's place as she knew he likes that with his crepe. She then did the "candle in a muffin" and sang to him. That was very nice of her to add such a special thoughtful touch and we appreciate her kindness.
Otherwise, breakfast has declined somewhat in quality and quantity of buffet choices. The buffet tends to have a "theme" which is often Thai or Tex Mex, so if you want something that is not very spicy or peppery, your choices are very limited. Sliced bread and bagels tend to be extremely stale and good only for feeding the ducks in Elk Pond.

We appreciate the staff at TIALC and look forward to returning. Thank you!

A Gem in Telluride

Beautiful place - small, quiet and just perfect for us! Will go again! I have no tips, as it depends on why you go to Telluride. We were there for the hiking in the area. There are several trails on the slopes and many just a short drive away. The gondola was nice to go into the town of Teluride - you don't have to drive down. That is a plus, with parking at a minimum in town. We enjoyed the quiet of the Village, which is why we stayed up on the mountain. It is just a very nice place to stay!
