Reviews
The Sheraton Steamboat Villas are about as close to the ski area as you can get (truly ski in, ski out, not hike in, hike out). The condos / villas offer the choice of several amenities and services, yet the cost and participating in said services in optional. One very nice feature is the rooftop hot tubs. Nothing like sitting in a hot tub while the snow is coming down on you, especially after snow riding. The kitchen facilities are basis yet adquate. The beds are excellent.
This is a great place to stay even if you don't have access to a vehicle. There's free shuttle service to downtown Steamboat Springs and back, that runs about every half hour, and seats on the shuttle can be reserved in advance. This substantially increases the dining and entertainment options during your stay.
Location, location, location! The Sheraton is truly ski in ski out! Great bar/restaurant in the hotel and an awesome bar/restaurant attached next door. The shuttle (tips only) is so convenient and punctual to take you into town for dinner/drinks/shopping that you don’t need to drive at all! Rooftop hot tubs for after skiing are very relaxing! Oh, and the mountain/skiing is phenomenal!
The Sheraton is at the base of the mountain, and as a result, makes it easy to access the lifts. Our room was a one bedroom suite; there was a basic kitchenette, refrigerator, propane gas fireplace, and a balcony facing the mountain. There was a connecting door to the adjacent room---this was somewhat problematic as the family in that room were very noisy. Our room was on the 2nd floor; I would recommend you ask for a higher floor, each morning we could hear staff rearranging furniture around 6am and sometimes earlier.
The staff were friendly; we used the "green" room ticket, which meant that staff would not clean the room. This was fine as we got extra towels from the hot tub area.
The hotel includes a restaurant (so so food), best option is to go to the restaurants in the area or downtown; there also is a small coffee shop with breakfast sandwiches.
The hotel offers a garage for parking but you have to pay a daily fee, which can be high especially if you valet. We opted to fly into Hayden and use the local, free transportation.
The hotel provides a free shuttle to downtown but we opted for the local buses. They are free and the bus sop is about a five minute walk from the hotel. Buses leave frequently from the mountain and the pick-up spots downtown are easy to find. Out longest wait downtown was maybe 10 minutes.
There is a small grocery store near the hotel---be forewarned, it is VERY expensive. Take the bus or shuttle downtown to one of the other grocery stores.
The hotel was clean, convenient, and staff with friendly people. That's what we look for in a hotel. Our only issue was the noise each morning with the furniture being moved and from the family next door. Our advice---get a room on a higher floor (4 or 5) and ask for a room without a door to an adjacent room.
Modern, convenient hotel and suites at the base of Steamboat. Newly renovated suites are well equipped with kitchens, large sitting rooms and comfortable bedrooms.
The gondola might take a slow walker a little over a minute. Not sure why some reviews said five.
Friendly staff and helpful concierges. Some dining options at the base but need to shuttle to the town.
Fantastic experience at this Sheraton. Everyone was so helpful and kind. Our 1 bedroom unit was beautiful and comfortable. Can’t wait to go back next year. The location couldn’t have been better and the concierges were extremely helpful.
