How to Get There
We stayed at the Highland Haven during a recent trip to Colorado. Our only regret is that we didn't plan more time there. The room was super comfy and clean. Breakfast alone is worth going back for. And of course, there is your canine host. It is located in a beautiful Creekside setting. It was a great way to start our vacation. We let the creek sounds just wash away real world and put us in vacation mode. A very nice reset. It didn't hurt that our cell phones didn't pick up WiFi in our room. A negative for some, but we can't wait to go back.
This TreeHouse was made for romance! That's why my husband and I chose it for our wedding anniversary.
When we arrived, we were offered an assortment of wines at Happy Hour, and warm gooey cookies. We took them back to the TreeHouse to explore our new digs. There was soft music playing, champagne on ice, and fresh flowers throughout. There was artwork everywhere: Whimsical treehouse paintings and photographs adorned the walls, antique stained glass hung from windows, and every nook and cranny of the space held something charming, quaint, cutesy, or I daresay “magical”. We continued to find little, hidden pieces of art and endearing touches right up until the moment we left.
The lush bed is as beautiful as it shows in the photos on their website, and crowned with the stunning (and even SPOTLESS) crystal chandelier, it's quite a site to behold.
There is a two-person jetted tub on the top floor, surrounded by views of the forest. This was probably our favorite part of the stay!
There is artwork all throughout the grounds... it blends in so well, that some of the art we didn't notice until night, standing from our balcony, and overlooking the courtyard where subtle lighting highlighted the things we missed during the day.
In the morning, we ate breakfast outside because it was a beautiful day, but they offer breakfast in bed, if you desire. The breakfast was hot and tasty, and the coffee delicious.
The staff was amazing, from check-in to check-out, making sure we had everything we needed, including dinner recommendations. (We ate in the Historic Downtown Evergreen, which is only a five minute walk from this property.) The owner was very kind and we chatted her up about her landscaping, and she was thoughtful enough to give us some clippings from a vine that we are trying to grow at our house! I liked seeing that the owners were entrenched in keeping the property beautiful. Love is in the details, and this TreeHouse and entire property were clearly made with a lot of love.
From the outside, it’s very charming. Happy hour was going on with a nice selection of wine and beer. It smelled lovely. The room was attractive and cozy to look at. The bathroom was clean and well appointed. When we came back to settle in after dinner, the room was uncomfortably cold. We could not get warmth to come on. We called the after hours person. (It was 8) He was very friendly but struggled with the controls. We finally got it warm, then couldn’t get the heat to stop. We then opened the windows to allow air in. Every step the occupants took above us resonated loudly through our room. All small details to be sure. But, a room is only as good as it’s bed. Ah. So the bed was not comfortable. We both tossed and turned and also due to the temperature inconsistency did not sleep. So we did what any loving married couple do when both awake and interested. The noises the bedsprings made were mercilessly loud!!! The bed pushed away from the wall and make the floor creak noisily. I cannot imagine any inn presenting itself as romantic would have a bed of that nature. It was embarrassing and funny but not funny at the same time. When it comes right down to it, a romantic inn should have its beds turned regularly and replaced when used well.
Special little cozy getaway for a peaceful rest in the mountains. Comfortable, clean, quiet. Visited about a year ago, and already going back in the fall. Each little cabin is a different set up. Our room had a kitchen and living room area. You can go as a couple or bring friends. Go for a romantic retreat and enjoy a room with a jacuzzi. Breakfast is included and it's all made from scratch, buffet style. Go eat in the dining room or take it back to your room and enjoy the crisp Colorado air on your porch.
Not too far from Red Rocks Amphitheatre, just a short drive down the mountainside. Spectacular music venue that you don't want to miss on your trip. Love this place and so happy we found it. Almost hate sharing!!
A beautiful setting, gorgeously decorated rooms, dreamy beds. The staff were so welcoming and friendly the breakfast and happy hour were yummy. Took my daughter and granddaughter for a birthday celebration it was a perfect choice. We’re already planning another stay! Thank you Highland Haven
