Overview

Sleek chalet-style digs steps from the slopes in the heart of Beaver Creek’s tony resort village

The Look

This perch is the perfect compliment to Beaver Creek’s exclusive resort village, a Euro-inspired gated enclave with heated sidewalks, trendy boutiques, gourmet eateries and lively bars. The property adds a modern spin on traditional chalet style with gabled roofs and a horseshoe layout that wraps around a courtyard. The lobby and public areas received a recent facelift adding a river rock water wall, exposed beams and a crackling fireplace ringed by comfy leather sofas and chairs.

Bed and Bath

With accommodations ranging from cozy hotel-style king rooms to four-bedroom, four-bathroom condos, there’s room for romance and family fun. Condos are privately owned, leaving decor up to the owners; expect lofted ceilings, picture windows, warm natural hues, stone fireplaces, and, in most, balconies. Condo units add kitted out kitchens and dining areas for home-cooked family dinners – have the concierge stock your fridge in advance of your arrival or pop downstairs to the village’s gourmet market.

Beyond

Since it is connected to the heated sidewalks of Beaver Creek’s pedestrian village, it’s difficult not to be wowed by the St. James based on location alone. Another plus are the dedicated ski valets on call with a cart to truck your skis 200 yards to the ski lifts so you don’t have to schlep a thing. What puts the property over the top, however, is the indoor fitness and pool complex. The pool, hot tubs, sauna and steam room were all recently spiffed up, making them a relaxing escape within this ritzy resort.

In the Area

Though Beaver Creek grooms some of North America’s premier ski pistes, this four-season resort isn’t just about powder riding. Just outside the front door, Beaver Creek’s Black Family Ice Rink offers skate rentals, and it’s lined by full-service fire pits where you can relax with a mug of cocoa. Not far down the cobblestone lane, the Vilar Performing Arts Center is a 535-seat theatre operated by the Vail Valley Foundation; performances range from Broadway musicals to concerts featuring the likes of Michael McDonald, Trombone Shorty and St. Petersburg’s State Symphony Orchestra. Colorado is known for its microbrews, and one of the best is Crazy Mountain Brewing Company, the Vail Valley’s original microbrewery. Find the hoppy Crazy Mountain Amber Ale on tap at the Beaver Creek Chophouse. Come summer and fall, Red Sky Golf Club has two of the nation’s most stunning courses, one designed by Tom Fazio and the other by Greg Norman.

St. James Resort, October, 2019

St. James provides everything you would expect from a first class resort/hotel. We have loved it for years and will go up for a week whenever it comes available on RCI. My 11 year old grandson looks forward to a visit also. He loves the pool area and would be down there all day if we let him. The hot chocolate in the check-in area is a big draw also. Best hot chocolate we've tasted (including the ones I make at home). We also enjoy the restaurants in the village and frequent them almost every day even though the kitchens are more than adequate. Did I mention that the views are fabulous especially in the fall.

We were pleasantly surprised at the spaciousness and the view on the balcony. Close to the shops and restaurants. The staff were wonderful, very accommodating and friendly. We would definitely go back.

We love this hotel! The units are so big and spacious and provide amazing views of the mountains and town. The rooms are large with really comfortable bedding and oversized bathrooms. The staff here is incredible. We met Matt at the front desk and he was incredibly polite and welcoming to us. Everyone was so nice and quick to help us for anything we needed. They also provided great recommendations of things to do. We will definitely be back!!
