How to Get There
The room (737) was nice, but showing it’s age (stains in the carpet, chipped paint and furniture).
The bed was comfortable, the Water pressure good (though the water did have an odor), and WiFi great.
Was it worth the $84 per night (before tax)? Maybe when you include the pool, gym, and the fact it is directly attached to the convention center. Otherwise, not!
Rooms were average at best. Even after upgrade to suite nothing to write about. After getting in after 8pm still needed to wait 2 hours for room to be finished. Asked 4x for extra blankets after 9 hours finally got some. Workout room was a mess. Half the equipment didn’t work and neither did TVs. I would think in offseason they would be able to work on some of these items.
This hotel location is really good but maintenance is not up to the mark. The should maintain the brand value at least. There is no feel of luxury in the hotel. Rooms are with old and dirty carpets and mattresses needs to be changed. Even pool area is also not maintained.
My room had not been cleaned properly - the recycling bin had not been emptied before I checked in, and the bathroom sink and toilet had clearly not been cleaned. Further, housekeeping left used toiletries presumably left over from the last guest. On a positive note, management promptly responded to these issues and discounted the cost of the room; however, it was just an overall gross experience for me. I gave 3 stars for service given management's quick remediation of the housekeeping issues, but I would have given 2 stars based solely on the state of the room.
My wife and I decided to take a trip to Myrtle Beach for some R & R prior to Christmas. We got a very good rate on the room. The hotel was easy to find and parking is available for $8.00 a day. The young lady at check-in was a pleasure to work with, she helped to make check-in a breeze, and we received an upgrade. Our room was located on the 11th floor. The view was not bad. You could see the boardwalk area. FYI this hotel in not located on the beach. The room was clean and in good order; however the door handle on the closet door was installed wrong. During our stay there was a football event going on, so there were a large amount of people in the area all the time. This didn’t affect us at all; the area was still very quiet. There is a small coffee shop, but it is expensive. Muffins (small) $3.50, apple fritters $3.00, and juice/water $3.00. One of the elevators was a little shaky; a young man got stuck in it for about 30 minutes. We are Marriott reward members, so we try to check out all the hotels in their chain as we travel. We had no issues with this hotel and may visit it again in the future.
