How to Get There
The hotel was very nice. The staff everywhere were very nice and helpful. The restaurant had delicious food and the bar was fun. Pool was nice a little shallow but relaxing. It was within walking distance of restaurants and the beach as well.
Visiting for our annual Birthday Ball we have been burned by expensive convention centers with group package hotel offers. When we asked for a quiet, comfortable place away from the noise, that’s exactly what we got. Very easy to control climate panel, very comfortable linens and robe. There is even a magnified vanity mirror for makeup applications in an otherwise romanticly lit room. When we requested additional soaps (because my wife needs all of them) we got a whole bag of refills. Everything we hoped for and more. Only points that some may find annoying, the pillows were very soft but fluffy. The parking garage is large but separate, a bit of a walk from the main hotel. Otherwise we loved our stay.
I booked through Hotels.com for a suite with double beds and a sofa bed. I received a handicapped king suite with a sofa bed instead. When I called down to the front desk I was informed that when Hotels.com sent my reservation over, they requested a king suite and not a double bed suite. I then informed the front desk staff that my reservation is stating double bed suite with sofa bed. I was placed on hold then offered a complimentary roll away bed and was told that unfortunately my room could not be changed due to the hotel being full. Here's my problem(s):
1. the shower floor was extra nasty, I'm assuming bc it is a wheelchair accessible bathroom it's due to the tracking of the wheelchairs on the shower tile floor
2. the carpet was nasty
3. the toilet had an extra high seat on it that you could not remove
4. it took them at least 1 hr to bring up the "complimentary" roll away bed
5. I was not offered anything substantial for my inconvenience
I'm booked to stay for another cheer competition in March 2019. Even though it's convenient bc the competition is at the adjoining convention center, I'm seriously considering taking my business elsewhere from this now on.
We spent 4 lovely days in Myrtle Beach. Loved staying at Shearaton, they have certain standards that are met no matter where you go. Great customer service, tasty food, clean rooms. There are many great places to eat around the hotel; we especially enjoyed
sushi and pizza.
Arrived at the Sheraton in Myrtle Beach on Wednesday morning with high hopes for the visit. Initial thoughts about the hotel...situated in a high travel area/busy, close to restaurants and entertainment, and nice appearance, but they are having some work done in/around the lobby area. Initial thoughts upon walking into the room...huge black spots in the middle of the carpet (inside the doorway..in the room) and some red spots...just looked bad; the wallpaper was peeling away from the wall in the bathroom; run stain going down the wall in the bedroom and there was the most foul smell that came out of the bathroom (couldn't tell if it was coming from the water or some pipes). The housekeeping staff also didn't clean my room for 2 days...had to call the desk in order to get fresh towels and toilet paper. And, they somehow checked me out of my room a full day early and left me scrambling for a minute. I utilized room service several times as well. Timeliness was great, staff were great...but, the food and selection was not that great. Lastly, the conference rooms were nice and spacious...a definite plus for the hotel. Overall, a memorable visit...yes....but for all of the wrong reasons. At this point, I cannot say that I would stay there again or that I could comfortably recommend them to anyone else. I believe there are much better facilities that would provide a much better experience.
