How to Get There
Very clean and modern condo. Very large and upscale bathroom with nice tiled floor, granite countertop sink and large comfortable shower. Kitchen had ample granite countertops with upscale GE Profile dishwasher, refrigerator, and smooth top range. The view from the 21st floor was awesome. We could see all the way to Sunset Beach, Ocean Isle Beach, and the water tower on Holden Beach, North Carolina!
Really helpful staff. Great view. We had a good time in the lounge. The staff was willing to do anything to help us. Pool area clean and well kept. Easy walk to very good dining. Valet would be on-the-spot with the car.
Ocean 22 is a beautiful facility. A great place for just the two of you or for the entire family. Units are quiet and well furnished.
We love the beach in the winter but it is a great place to stay any time during the year.
I do wish the pool was saline the chlorine is overwhelming (year round).
We stayed in a 3-bedroom unit, #1507, on the 15th floor. All of the 3-bedroom units are oceanfront, but our unit was a corner unit too, so we had ocean views from 2 sides! The condo was huge. It seemed to be about 1100 sq'. 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, fully stocked kitchen, nice patio with furniture, comfortable beds and plenty of soft linens. The unit was quiet and peaceful. I could sit with coffee and wine and just watch the ocean roll in. I absolutely hated to leave.
Arrived Monday night. Upon check-in, I was IMMEDIATELY sent to another desk to receive “a free gift”. I promised my husband I could quickly take care of the free gift (I figured it would be the two free bottles of water promised online and the free tickets to wild water and wheels promised online) and then meet him and the kids in the room to unpack. I was given discount coupons that I could easily acquire on-line and told the water park was closed. I asked if I could have the tickets anyway because I told the kids that even though the water would be too cold, we could still enjoy the go karts. I was told no, the tickets were for the water section only which was closed. Not what was advertised online! You would think there would be a substitute offered but, nope. I was then immediately asked to make an appointment to see the sales team on Wednesday to “go over any questions about my ownership “. I told her I would have to ask my husband but, right now, I had promised him I would simply go to her desk and get the gift. Never got free water promised with 3 bedroom suite. Normally sitting in the room upon arrival at every other Hilton resort and even Home2Suites. Before we could even get our luggage off the cart, the phone rang, it was Kelly explaining that she had to leave so if we could please make the appointment now. We made the appointment for 10:45 am and took the luggage off the cart. We were starving so, I immediately went into cooking mode only to notice there was one small frying pan (in a room that sleeps 8) large enough to fry two pork chops at a time. I called down for another. Then a knock at the door produced Kelly with paperwork to sign for our Wednesday appointment at 10:45. Again explaining that she had to go home for the night and the papers needed to be signed now. We signed the papers, had HER write the date and time in them and said our goodbyes. Frying pan was delivered by two employees and supper was again on the way. My children took a shower. My son first and then my daughter called down for conditioner because my son used half the bottle and her thick hair requires two bottles minimum. Again two employees showed up with a baggie with two soaps, two conditioners and two shampoo. We filled up the small kitchen trash can with our travel chip bags and the containers from from the meat and such used for making supper so we sat it on the kitchen counter so my service dog would not be tempted. Tuesday, we drove around to see a town that was mostly closed down as far as the kid activities were concerned but, we weren’t worried because every Hilton resort, we have stayed at, has plenty of kid activities. We had even called ahead to be sure. We got back to our room to discover that the room was exactly as we had left it. Nobody had even came in. We went downstairs to ask why and was told that the trash would be taken care of if we sat it outside the door. On Wednesday, we got up early, rushed around. took the service dog for a walk, woke the kids up early so we could feed them before going to our appointment. Promised them we would let them sleep in the rest of the trip we just REALLY wanted to find out more about our ownership PRIVILEGES. Upon arrival 5 minutes early, we were told that our appointment was actually at 12:45 not 10:45 and WE must have misunderstood because there is no way they could have made the mistake of booking two appointments at the same time. We were then sent away with no compensation because after all, it was OUR fault. We came back up to our room and decided to have more coffee and plan our day. That is when we remembered that we had Kelly write down the time and day of our appointment in HER handwriting. My husband went back downstairs to get a pack of coffee (the room only comes with one decaf and one regular which we drank on Tuesday) and show the paper to the preview office to prove that in fact WE did not make a mistake. My husband demanded compensation for our time and inconvenience. We were not offered. Sad...very sad. We sent the kids downstairs to ask for trash bags.By the time that was all over with, it was lunchtime so, We decided to sit at the pool bar, have some drinks and order some lunch while watching the kids swim like we read that we could do since you have an indoor pool and bar for winter guests. Nope, BAR CLOSED! We were told by the person cleaning up the towels but, not the trash from the pool deck, “off season but, you are more than welcome to enjoy drinks at the inside sky bar.” I am capable of making drinks in my room, if I have to dry off and get my kids out of the pool, get dressed and go to the sky bar get a drink, go back to the pool, get undressed, get the kids back in the pool, then what’s the point? We let the kids finish swimming and then went to the desk and asked the front desk for a list of resort activities for the kids. Excited about our last day at the resort and finally having something to do, we went back to the room, cleaned, swept, cooked, put our trash outside the door, went downstairs to get coffee, shampoo, trash bags etc for the following day. Oops, forgot dishwasher detergent, called down in the middle of watching a movie for that to get delivered. Of course delivery (in my mind) requires a tip. YAY, something to do on Thursday! It was early in the day again but, the kids and I were more that willing to get up early, walk the dog and have breakfast so we could paint a seashell and then have pizza from the marketplace! We got to the front desk and asked where to go paint the shells. “Shell painting has been canceled “. SERIOUSLY!!! Why would you hand an activity schedule to us if the activities are canceled?????!!! We took the kids to wonderworks. Fantastic place, great customer service! Well worth the Groupon! Had a great time. Had to call or go to the desk for every single thing! Even after asking (and complaining) every day could our room please be checked for full garbage cans, empty coffee, no shampoo....BARE NECESSITIES! Every time I complained, I got a blank stare followed by, just call and we will take care of it. Friday check out, .....”how was your stay?” Seriously?? My stay was awful! Service is better at the crappy hotels we are forced to stay in for our children’s ball games! Motel6 at least delivers what they promise when you book. Home2Suites not only replenishes your coffee and shampoo everyday, they put the promised free water on the counter daily. I never received one single free water! “What can we do to improve your next stay?” SERIOUSLY? BE A RESORT, DO YOUR JOB, TAKE CARE OF YOUR CUSTOMERS! As an OWNER, I should be treated even better than a regular guest. The only perk I received was the invitation to go to the preview office to discuss my ownership. When I showed up for that I was accused of being a liar. No other owner perks! Oh, five dollar a day discount for valet parking, sorry my bad. I forgot about that! The sign says 10 dollars a day for self park, 15 dollars a day for valet. Parking is free for owners so, 10 dollars a day free parking right? Nope, if you valet, 15 dollars a day valet minus 10 dollars a day free equals 10 dollars a day on my bill, for parking plus of course you tip the valet. Doesn’t 15 minus 10 equal 5? New math I guess.
