How to Get There
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Beach Club in Charleston, South Carolina. On the property they had an excellent restaurant called the Fish House. When we stayed, we took the water taxi across the harbor to activities in Charleston. At the end of days of sight-seeing, we rode the hotel shuttle back to our gorgeous suite. I highly recommend upgrading your room to a harbor view. It’s breathtaking as you sit in your Adirondack chairs on your balcony facing the pools and harbor. The room was also so pretty! It had a comfy king bed, fireplace, desk, sofa, tub, vanity, and free-standing shower. Although many travelers may want to stay in Charleston proper, we were so glad to stay at this resort across the harbor. The Beach Club offers the best of both worlds—access to charming Charleston and relaxation at the resort on the water.
I was very disappointed with the hotel room 437. It was cramped, dated and dirty. It was loud and smelly because of the dumpster location just below my room. There was an old sock on the balcony that looked like it had been there for a while. Our room wasn’t cleaned until Saturday morning.. Dirt and grim remained on the bathroom door molding and the metal shelve in the bathroom was rusty. The bathroom door had to be left open after we showered to clear the steam from the mirror because the bathroom vent did not work. I was grossed out at the site of the shampoo, conditioner, body wash bottles and the hand soap and moisturizer bottles bolted to the bathroom walls. The bottles did not appear to be cleaned daily. There was soap scum around the bottle covers. Nor were they filled during our stay. There was very little body wash in the bottle and the shampoo and conditioner bottles were almost empty. By the end of our stay on Sunday, the body wash was completely empty. The hair dryer was not working either and had to be replaced by another one brought to our room by your front desk. The bathroom pocket door did not operate very well, making a loud noise when opening and closing the door. The door had to be slammed shut in order to close it completely. The TV remote control did not work properly. I also found it difficult to get a good night sleep due to the light shining through the gap between the room door and frame. It was very drafty as well.
The Beach Club is a spectacular resort. From the moment you walk in, it was without a doubt one of the nicest hotels we have ever been in. We love the decor, the room and the location. The pool is like a Caribbean resort over looking the harbor. We preferred the location being in Mount Pleasant because it is a little more laid back but easy enough to scoot over to Charleston.
