How to Get There
We had never been to The Sanctuary in December and it was a special treat. The hotel was beautifully decorated and quiet. The weather turned out great for our Golf or Gourmet package. Our oceanfront room gave us access to beautiful views, including a spectacular sunrise.
The staff were attentive, as always. Just a great 3 day stay with friends at our favorite place!
Four of my college friends and I went there to celebrate my friend’s 40th birthday.
We stayed in a suite with an ocean view. There were stunning views. We had the hospitality suite. John took great care of us with unlimited drinks and food.
The beach is perfect with chairs set up for you and you can relax all day with drinks and a book. We took the transportation to the Ocean course for dinner. It was delicious.
I plan to return soon because it was the most relaxing and wonderful adult vacations I have ever been on. Top notch place and top notch staff.
We had been looking forward to this trip for months. We usually travel to South Carolina a few times per year and this was our first try at the Sanctuary. We don’t golf so all of that was lost on us but we can talk about the resort itself.
The grand entrance is spectacular, opening up to a large lobby with a stunning view of the rear lawn and the ocean beyond. The beach is the non golf highlight and they sure do a good job highlighting this.
Check in was delayed as we were there early. Went and had dinner while we were waiting. Since it was on Thanksgiving we had reservations for a holiday buffet and the food, options and variety were all top notch. First time trying deep fried turkey and not sure I will ever go back to plain old boring regular turkey.
Up to the rooms after dinner....they were spacious and had a balcony overlooking the lawn and the ocean to the left. The bed was lumpy and we needed to call to have them replace the mattress topper. One day housekeeping forgot the room but someone was sent up to rectify the situation. The shower was the absolute best we have ever had. More pressure than any other hotel! There was also a soaking tub and separate water closet.
Breakfast at Jasmine Porch was a buffet and it was spectacular. Both of the Jermaines and Mellissa were great as was James at the omelet station. Definitely a highlight and we looked forward to breakfast each day.
This is touted as the premier luxury accommodation in South Carolina. We would say that it comes in second to Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton SC. No ocean there but incredible staff, amazing accommodations and the stunning May River. Maybe the golf puts Sanctuary over the top but again it was not important to us.
This is what a true 5 star hotel should be. Great resort on a great beach. The staff is very attentive and friendly and the restaurants are wonderful. We have been coming to the sanctuary every year (multiple times a year) for over 8 years and have never been disappointed.
This is a stunning setting just 40 minutes from Charleston. The hotel is beautiful inside and outside, and the perfect beach is a very short, easy walk. I plan to return soon for a restful 2 or 3 day visit.
