South Beach- Best Staycation Yet!
Reviewed 1 week ago

Oh, South Beach! It was a truly amazing privilege to be able to spend a few getaway days at this lovely hotel. It doesn't look like anything fancy from the outside but upon entering you start to realize that South Beach is a hidden gem. The staff is friendly, helpful and discreet. The rooms are clean with a modern charm, completely outfitted with a kitchenette, cutlery and crockery, rain shower, AC, dining and living area and a nice balcony. Ours had a tree-obscured view of an otherwise pretty ocean from the 4th floor and served us well for a couple quiet romantic dinners before we had to leave. Complimentary continental breakfast is also included- a tasty way to start the day! It is also in a great location surrounded by many nearby places to purchase food or have a fun night out- whether it's listening to some jazz in the Gap or taking a stroll on the boardwalk. If you want to get away for an affordable price, this is the place for you. Whether it's a couples staycation or a family holiday, I would highly recommend that you spend it at South Beach!

Perfect Location :)

This stay was great, we had most of our needs met by the staff members. On arrival we were greeted by the famous Cheron who provided us with some complimentary bajan rum punch. We had our luggage taken to our room whilst we dealt with formalities at reception. Our room was very spacious and had a little living area alongside a balcony view of the pool front of the hotel. The decor within the room was very modern and up to date. A lock was provided for the safe in the room alongside an iron and an ironing board. Tanya provided beneficial information needed to get around and explore the Island. In relation to special occasions,a birthday card was left in the room by the hotel, when asked if anything decorative could be added to the room it was declined by Cheron.
Breakfast lacked a wide range of options and mainly consisted of beans, bread (french toast), sausages, scrambled egg, stewed tomatoes, plantain and cereal which was only ever cornflakes or frosted flakes. The service at breakfast was not necessarily the best and could have been given with a smile by certain staff members. The area was very presentable and looked to be very hygienic and tea and coffee were always offered with sachets of herbal tea on the tables.
The only other issue I would say I had with the hotel was the lack of towel changing, we had this issue for a couple of nights which led us to use beach towels instead. The issue was eventually resolved by the lovely Troy who explained that he would be talking to housekeeping and made it didn't occur again.
In regards to local amenities South beach is based next door to Chefette which is well know fast food chain in Barbados, it provides a wide range of food choices but are mainly known for their chicken. There are further food restaurants near by such as Salt Cafe, KFC and Tapas these can accessed on the main street and also on the board walk by Accra Beach. The board walk is a very serene place to take a nice stroll and has a great view of the beach. You are able to catch local buses from the front of the hotel at the price of $2 bds which is a set price for any bus journey.
South Beach is a 5-10 minute walking distance to St Lawrence Gap which gives you a variety of bars, restaurants and clubs and is always lively and will show you a good time. Oistins is further away so the local bus will be required, bridgetown will also require a local bus. There's also the quayside centre, arts splash centre and the Lanterns mall which provide many shops, restaurants and craft stalls.
Overall, South Beach I believe is a good location with access to the beach and many restaurants. Upon leaving we had Romario who was an absolute pleasure who came and helped with our luggage and kept a watchful eye on it whilst we had our last few hours of exploring.
