Nearly had a panic attack on arrival!!!!!!
Reviewed 2 days ago

It was 5.00pm, rush hour, lots of beeping of horns and people milling around and I have to say I thought 'oh my God what have we done!!!
Roll on 24 hrs, I had acclimatised (usually having stayed in the much quieter St James area) and I loved it.
Yes it is busy but as soon as you get on the beautiful beach, peace and quiet prevails.
The hotel itself is very stylish, with lovely large rooms and spotlessly clean. Nice size balconies which you can watch the hustle and bustle of Bajan life before you with the sea in the distance in between the trees.. we thought there was only a Continental breakfast on offer but in fact there are the usual eggs bacon etc which was obviously a bonus. The staff , in particular Troy and Lydia are extremely helpful and accommodating., with always a smile on their face. There are numerous good restaurants to choose from. We went to Harlequin, Mojos, Champers, Tapas and Shakers. The former being my favourite followed very closely by Champers,. Shakers has got extremely good reviews but certainly on the night we went I felt like we were on a conveyor belt and the food was just ok. One thing to be made aware of is that this is a no smoking hotel, not even on your balconies and they are very strict about it.

Good hotel,good location

My daughter recommended this hotel and we were not disappointed. The location is great and directly over the road to the beach. It is a busy main road into Bridgetown, but having said that it is only narrow and the drivers simply stop and let you cross. Hotel rooms are large and even the standard rooms (junior suite) has plenty of room with a huge bed table, sofa etc. And if you really want to, it has a small kitchen area for cooking. The hotel staff are very and friendly, with more than enough choice for breakfast. A good place to stay in Barbados.

Very Nice

We actually we here in June of 2017. Rooms were excellent, partial ocean views in many of the rooms. Elevator worked without an issue.Hotel Staff was pleasant and attentive. The restaurant and bar staff have gotten some negative reviews but we did not find this at all. We treated them pleasantly and they did the same. I think that cultural differences are sometimes viewed by some travelers (aka we Americans) as being aloof or cool or whatever. Smile, treat people with respect and tip appropriately. Everyone will enjoy your stay much better.
The hotel is located on a very busy road. The noise is not that bad except when the guy in the taxi stand across the street starts yapping in a loud voice. Inside the room you cannot hear the traffic etc.. By the pool one hardly notices. Lots of good restaurants within walking distance, particularly the one over looking the beach.
The beach across the street is okay, except the waves get a little rough at times. Not a big problem unless you are a little older or have balance issues. Little kids would need a adult near by when there are beyond the beach. Nice boardwalk to follow down the shoreline. We had a very good time and would return if the opportunity presets itself.

Great value hotel - very underated

Spacious rooms, very clean and really comfy beds, what noise from the road sorry never heard it? Such a relaxing stay here.
Breakfast staff really lovely, and helpful. Can’t wait to come back, reception very helpful although upon arrival not very smiley, never mind we all have an off day.

Beyond Excellent!

Just got back from 2 weeks here and it was fantastic! Having read some reviews we were a little apprehensive. I will say that be aware of the Barbados levy payable on check-in. (luckily we where) Also the $500BBD room security fee (we were not aware of) - Just worth noting.

Grounds - We maintained and spotlessly clean. There is a bar and it shuts at 8pm and to be honest that suited us. All the rooms face outwards so overlook pool and bar area and I could not think of anything worse than trying to enjoy an evening on the balcony and listening to people being rowdy or drunk while trying to relax and enjoy ourselves. The bar is not always manned - again its so quiet by the pool and with having apartments the demand for the bar to be staffed just isn't economical. You can get ice etc and take it the room. Pool was quiet and really child friendly.

Reception and Room - Modern, chic and stylish throughout. More than just a room! Fully equipped kitchen, dining space, balcony with partial sea views. Free use of safe and beach towels. Yes sometimes towels do not arrive until 4pm however we never showered until evening so this didn't effect us so not a problem. Just fantastic.

Breakfast - Varied every day, Always cereal, fruit, cakes, bread, hot buffet etc. All fresh and replenished constantly. The girls in here work so hard - they are always smiling and were always quick to accommodate requests such as boiled egg or poached etc.

Location - Yes it is on a main road however it is not noisy and doesn't interfere with your stay at all if anything it enhances it. We hired a car so could park opposite. Taxi stand is right outside and there is an abundance of eateries and shops a stone throw away. The beach is directly opposite where you get beds free of charge if staying here - umbrella $10BBD. Centrally located for exploring.

Staff - I don't even know where to begin - nothing is ever too much for the staff here. They go above and beyond what is expected of them and quite frankly are an asset to the hotel. Big shouts to Troy, Tonya, Orietta, John and Lydia.

The managers party was a nice touch.

Overall - If you are looking for somewhere chic and stylish in a prime central location to submerge yourself into the Bajan way of living. A place to get away and be left to your own devices with down to earth friendly staff, offering great value for money then this is the place for you!!!

Thanks South Beach for making our first visit to Barbados so memorable.
