Contemporary crash pad a block from the beach with a rooftop cocktail bar and a sleek spa

The Lowdown

Next to the Avenue Mall and a block from the beach, the Hotel Baraquda is a contemporary crash pad with a super-central location in Pattaya. The 72 guestrooms are bright and breezy, with a turquoise and sand color scheme, and all come with iPod docks, DVD players and tea- and coffeemaking facilities. Splurge on a Baraquda Suite for a separate living room and a Jacuzzi. There’s an impressive array of facilities given the low room count, including a spacious outdoor pool, a rooftop bar and restaurant, and a serene spa with a modern fitness room. The Sea restaurant is a split-level all-day dining spot overlooking the pool, and the Sunset Lounge serves light bites and cocktails up on the roof.

In the Area

Pattaya’s main attractions include the Nong Nooch Tropical Garden elephant show, the spectacular Tiffany transvestite review and the Floating Market. In nearby Wong Amat don’t miss the massive all-wood Sanctuary of Truth Temple. Beach Road in central Pattaya is lined with bars and bargain markets, while south Pattaya’s Walking Street is a unique and noisy zone of adult go-go bars and eateries.

Great location but has shortcomings
Reviewed 4 days ago

First impressions were this hotel has a great location. It has a modern feel both in the lobby and public areas and also in the rooms.
The upsides are that the staff are polite and friendly. The pool area is nice. The gym which overlooks this has enough to fulfill most requirements.
The room was well soundproofed and the bed was really comfortable.
The negatives were that foe me the toilet is not private enough. Personally I like a bit more privacy whilst sitting on a toilet. A real downside was the limited storage space. The only two shelves suitable for clothes are so high I could just about reach the bottom one, fully stretched and I’m 6ft.
We asked for the use of Iron and Ironing board. The board we were provided with had a surface as smooth as the moon! The lining had all bunched over the years and I presume and no-one has bothered to replace it. The room is not abundant with sockets and the way they are located on the desk area means you will struggle to use 2 at the same time unless you have Thai plugs.
We were given 2 drink vouchers as a Gold member, to use in roof top bar. We unfortunately chose 2x Margaritas and they were arguably the most disgusting drinks I’ve ever tasted. Avoid these at all costs. Needless to say they were handed back hardly touched.
Overall the hotel has really good points but the price of their rooms means it should be better.

Comfortable stay in central location

Despite being close to central area of pattaya the hotel managed to let you have a peaceful environment for restful stay.I especially love the room design and also the pool area of this place. I would suggest adding a USB plug in slot to hotel rooms and provide another rubbish bin to the room. Then everything will be perfect. The rooftop bar offered us a good chance to rest with a nice open sky viewing. After an almost half day of driving from Bangkok to Pattaya during a long holiday period the bar helped relieve us. I would like to compliment all staffs for their excellent service throughout my stay. I would suggest that the hotel should give a complimentary breakfast buffet along with a paid extra bed. We had added an extra bed to our room and was told not to be given a breakast meal for the extra person in our room. Please consider the scheme for better satisfaction of the extra guest.

Central Pattaya.. located 7 minute walk to beach.. next door to western food to thai foods.. new pizza place next door yummy.. Hotel food was awesome. .Parking was perfect underground.. we had the ste. 4000 very nice.. Real nice furniture with huge wall mirrors.. Amari a tad higher in price but this hotel has perfect location within walking distances of everything..Pool area has a separate kids pool and seemed really pleasant with great service from hotel staff on serving drinks and food. THE Location is perfect again and walking distance to Hops Restaurant a super restaurant I recommend with great pricing. Para sailing and wake boarding are options at the beach..
The bed was awesome!
