Contemporary crash pad a block from the beach with a rooftop cocktail bar and a sleek spa

The Lowdown

Next to the Avenue Mall and a block from the beach, the Hotel Baraquda is a contemporary crash pad with a super-central location in Pattaya. The 72 guestrooms are bright and breezy, with a turquoise and sand color scheme, and all come with iPod docks, DVD players and tea- and coffeemaking facilities. Splurge on a Baraquda Suite for a separate living room and a Jacuzzi. There’s an impressive array of facilities given the low room count, including a spacious outdoor pool, a rooftop bar and restaurant, and a serene spa with a modern fitness room. The Sea restaurant is a split-level all-day dining spot overlooking the pool, and the Sunset Lounge serves light bites and cocktails up on the roof.

In the Area

Pattaya’s main attractions include the Nong Nooch Tropical Garden elephant show, the spectacular Tiffany transvestite review and the Floating Market. In nearby Wong Amat don’t miss the massive all-wood Sanctuary of Truth Temple. Beach Road in central Pattaya is lined with bars and bargain markets, while south Pattaya’s Walking Street is a unique and noisy zone of adult go-go bars and eateries.

Top Notch Hotel

I stayed here for one week, while on business.

Modern & clean, with an extremely service friendly staff.

Restaurant on site - with a good breakfast buffet (+ eggs cooked to order) and then lunch & dinner, room service and the rooftop bar. Everything I had was freshly cooked, and of good quality ingredients. I had the grilled Tuna Sashimi, with pesto mayo, several times - excellent.

The rooftop bar had a good view, was not too busy, and offered a full selection of beer and mixed drinks.

I was working, and used the hotel laundry services several times, good quality and prompt service.

The pool was very nice - not too busy, and a good place to relax.

The gym has a full set of weights and equipment.

I wonder about bringing a family to this hotel, being right on the edge of the “tourist” trade, but the hotel itself is excellent

Good location. Good design. Great staffs

Locates on a busy street but it can make you feel relax when steps in to the hotel. Several restaurants nearby. Staffs are very nice, smiley, friendly and attentive. The pool is rather small but no problem.
PS. No kid club.

Damp room

Our room had a serious damp problem I’m not sure what the cause of it after we complained they sent maintenance to work on the air conditioning system but it didn’t solve the problem, the staff then gave us a large dehumidifier and there was so much moisture in the room 84 % humidity it had to be emptied every few hours, the bedding was damp and all our clothes we never kept any doors open obviously because it was the rainy season in hindsight we should have asked to move rooms but because we were only staying a few nights we never so that was our fault, also the decking around the pool looks old decking needs to be maintained or replaced, other than that I would say the hotel has good staff and is in a good location.
