Contemporary crash pad a block from the beach with a rooftop cocktail bar and a sleek spa

The Lowdown

Next to the Avenue Mall and a block from the beach, the Hotel Baraquda is a contemporary crash pad with a super-central location in Pattaya. The 72 guestrooms are bright and breezy, with a turquoise and sand color scheme, and all come with iPod docks, DVD players and tea- and coffeemaking facilities. Splurge on a Baraquda Suite for a separate living room and a Jacuzzi. There’s an impressive array of facilities given the low room count, including a spacious outdoor pool, a rooftop bar and restaurant, and a serene spa with a modern fitness room. The Sea restaurant is a split-level all-day dining spot overlooking the pool, and the Sunset Lounge serves light bites and cocktails up on the roof.

In the Area

Pattaya’s main attractions include the Nong Nooch Tropical Garden elephant show, the spectacular Tiffany transvestite review and the Floating Market. In nearby Wong Amat don’t miss the massive all-wood Sanctuary of Truth Temple. Beach Road in central Pattaya is lined with bars and bargain markets, while south Pattaya’s Walking Street is a unique and noisy zone of adult go-go bars and eateries.

I have just spent 16 wonderful nights at the Baraquda Hotel....This was my first stay and will definitely be coming back again. The hotel is very good with good facilities and very clean.
What made my holiday was the staff. They could not do enough for me and my father. Always a welcome smile.

Locate in the lively district in Pattaya city, mall and restarants are nearby. Well soft touched with sea and blue theme interior. Wide and functional room with comfortable mattress. Cleanliness and facilities are good. Were upgraded to baraquda suite, wide space with living room zone that come with another toilet and bedroom which comes together with jacuzzi tub and separated shower and toilet. Another thing that impressed us the most of this stay is staffs, make me feel so welcomed and really nice and helpful. Impressive stay for weekend in Pattaya. 24/7 gym but small and limited machine, outdoor pool.

Fab stay!

Great stay! This is one of the better hotels in Pattaya and the reviews on various online sites do justice. stayed here for five nights in the month of Jan. Being an accorplus member helped a lot as I got the room at a reasonable rate with one night stay free. The communication with the manager prior to arrival was a breeze and he was really helpful. Arrived at around 0900 hrs due to the red eye flight and the staff went all out to make the room available within 45 mins despite being way before the check in time. The staff is ever smiling and will go out of their way to help you. Will try to bring the pros and cons in detail:

The location. It's on the parallel road to the beach road. 12 mins walk from the iconic walking street. 10 mins to the Pattaya Night Market. All the major shopping malls are within 15 mins walking range. The road outside is dotted with bars, pubs, restaurents, coffee shops, family mart, 7/11, currency exchange and much more. Beach is five mins walk.

The hotel. It's more of a boutique hotel. It's managed by Sofitel and that says a lot. It has a very unique look unlike any other hotel i have stayed at. A large swimming pool, spacious rooms (deluxe King bed), balcony in every room. There's a sunset bar on the roof for those who want to chill while watching the sun go down.

The room. Deluxe King room. it was clean, comfortable beds and very cozy. The room overlooked the pool and that was fab. The positioning of bed in centre is a little unorthodox but still feels good. Might not sit well with some. Huge wall mirrors accentuate the look. so do the floor to ceiling glass separating the balcony. The wooden look on the floor is a very nice touch. All basic amenities are available in the room and if you want more, the room service is quite prompt.

Ambience. It's quiet despite it being close to the highly active road. Might have muffled music coming out of the scores of bars nearby at night but that's just part of the charm. An excellent hotel for couples and single people. I stayed solo and had a peaceful time.

The staff. Just brilliant. always helpful. Remember, what you give is what you get. Be polite and you'll get the respect.

Smoking is allowed in the balcony. No smoking in any of the rooms. You can have a drink and smoke by the pool and the sunset lounge. No joiner fee for guests.

The sun light doesn't really come directly into the room and I preferred it that way. Lot of light once you draw the curtains open.

Can't comment on food as i didn't have.

They're actually minor ones and one can live with it. The main one I feel is that the shower area doesn't have a door- just a curtain. Now that could be an issue for some. The toilet has a door but that can't be locked either.
The bedside has switches for controlling the lights but also could've had mobile charging points for those who like to use the phone in bed while it's getting charged. The switch panel has sharp edges and one might get hurt if not careful.
Overall, a fabulous stay. Will definitely stay here again next time.

Excellent Location, Great Staff, Luxury Living

I have been visiting this hotel for more than 7 years now and i am yet to find a better hotel in Pattaya. Inspite of achieving No. 1 spot, they still keep improvising on little little things.

This time around i found the new Coffee Machine, a whole new sofa set in the breakfast area, new improvised menu for the Breakfast but to top it all is there ever smiling and ever loving staff.

Baraquda will always remain very close to my heart and always my first choice.

Yes its more expensive but its worth every $ as soon as you step inside your in a little oasis away from the craziness of Pattaya yet your in an excellent location for all of Pattaya's entertainment. The rooms are fabulous and the bed was to comfiest ever. Staff are very pleasant. Well done Sofitel
